Sports Emmys: Winter Olympics & World Cup Coverage Lead Programs; ESPN, Fox Top Networks – Full List

ESPN, Fox and a pair of quadrennial global athletic events were among the big winners as the 44th annual Sports Emmy Awards were handed out tonight during a ceremony at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall in Manhattan.

Among programs, Fox and FS1’s coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup and NBC/USA’s Xxiv Winter Olympics tied with three Emmys apiece. ESPN and Fox led all network with nine trophies each, though the former beat with latter among network groups, 13 Emmys to nine.

Stephen Palgon’s "Fantasyland," a documentary about fantasy sports players based on the book by Sam Walker, premieres Friday on SnagFilms.com.

"Fantasyland" follows Jed Latkin, an amateur fantasy baseball fan who earns the chance to compete in an expert league called Tout Wars during the 2008 baseball season.

Financed and produced by James D. Stern's Endgame Entertainment, the film was produced with McG's Wonderland Sound & Vision and John Limotte and Doug Bernheim's Sound Pictures.

SnagFilms will feature the film on its flagship site and throughout its distribution network and will introduce fantasy-centered content across all platforms.

"'Fantasyland' has a built-in audience of 30 million fantasy sports players, other fantasy and sports enthusiasts as well as people intrigued by the exciting, humorous, sometimes scary and surprising lengths to which otherwise normal people will go just to win a mere contest of pride," Stern said.
