Miles Morales Can't Join The MCU Yet Says Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige
Image
There's a leading fan theory that Tom Holland is looking to hang up his web shooters sooner rather than later and that Marvel Studios is actively looking to bring Miles Morales into the MCU.

Whether or not that theory held any actual weight, it now seems to be irrelevant thanks to a key update from Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige.

According to Feige, Sony has made it clear that Marvel should steer clear of Miles Morales, casting significant doubt on any near-future plans for the character within the MCU.

Speaking at a roundtable press event ahead of the release of Fantastic Four: The First Steps, Feige stated, "That is nowhere," when asked about the state of a live-action Miles Morales movie in the MCU.

He added, "Sony has their brilliant, genius, incredible Spider- Verse animated franchise going and until that finishes, we’ve been told to stay away."

‘Ironheart’ Producer Reveals When Her Comic Book Accurate Suit Will Debut in MCU
Image
The Ironheart producer has revealed when fans can expect to see Riri Williams in her iconic comic-accurate pink armor in the MCU. Starring Dominique Thorne and created by Chinaka Hodge, Ironheart follows Riri Williams as she builds one of the most advanced armors since Iron Man.

Since her MCU debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Williams’ suits have been a constant point of intrigue for fans. And the new series reignited the conversation with three new additional suits, none of which closely resemble her classic comic book armor.

Zoie Nagelhout, the executive producer of the series, has told The Direct that though not yet, “we may see that pink suit in the future.” Nagelhout also explained that they chose to start with a scrappier, pieced-together suit to evolve toward the more polished, comic-accurate design gradually.

Ironheart Producer Explains Why Her Pink Suit Was Never an Option for MCU Show (Exclusive)
Image
Ironheart's producers provided new insight into why the McU's Disney+ show did not give Riri Williams her comic-accurate pink superhero suit. In her three-year tenure with Marvel Studios, Dominique Thorne's Ironheart has already donned a number of exciting costumes, displaying her technological genius and expertise. However, her pink-and-black suit from the pages of Marvel Comics still has not been adapted into live-action.

Ironheart producer Zoie Nagelhout revealed that the production team never considered Riri Williams' pink Ironheart suit as an option for her Disney+ series. While Riri did not get her final Ironheart suit until the penultimate episode of her solo show, it looked vastly different from what she normally wears in the comics from a color perspective.

Speaking exclusively with The Direct, Nagelhout gave credit to artist Mike Deodato and comic writer Brian Michael Bendis for their work on the suit that inspired the McU's red and black suit.

Only One Spider-Man Adaptation Has Gotten Mary Jane Watson Right
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Spider-Man is the most famous "nerd" superhero, so it's extra funny that Peter Parker has also had so many girlfriends. But there's one woman who always comes back: Mary Jane Watson. Mj's been part of Spider-Man's world since her first on-panel appearance in "The Amazing Spider-Man" #42, by Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. It took a while for her and Peter to truly get together, but Mj's the girl Peter Parker eventually married, no matter what Marvel Comics editorial has been saying since the controversial arc "One More Day."

Mary Jane is so famous as the Spider-Man love interest that a lot of adaptations skip right to her, like the 1994 "Spider-Man" cartoon produced by John Semper, Brian Michael Bendis and Mark Bagley's "Ultimate Spider-Man" comic reboot, and the Sam Raimi "Spider-Man" films, for instance. But to use...

Mike Deodato Speaks Out About Not Getting Paid for ‘Ironheart’ TV Show
Image
Mike Deodato, the artist who helped create Riri Williams (Ironheart), is speaking out. He says Marvel Studios did not pay him for using the character in the new Ironheart TV show.

Deodato worked with writer Brian Michael Bendis to create Riri Williams. She first appeared in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7 in 2016. The character made her big-screen debut in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, played by Dominique Thorne, who will also star in the Ironheart series.

Deodato posted a letter on social media. In it, he shared his feelings, both proud and frustrated. The full message, written in English, said:

7 major ways Marvel changed Ironheart's story from the comics
Image
Marvel Studios’ Ironheart brilliantly debuted with three episodes. This way, people can truly get into the show without having to wait weeks for episodic releases. Some of the benefits viewers were given are a clear idea of who the characters are, their motivations, and what struggles they’ll encounter.

Thanks to review bombing (the same kind that ruined the cinematic debuts of Captain Marvel and The Marvels), Ironheart isn’t getting the respect it deserves. Thankfully, as Screen Rant said, fans are fighting back and giving it a chance to shine. Hopefully, people will tune in because it's worth watching.

Some of the Disney Plus show’s greatness can be attributed to the changes made from the source material. These seven examples show what was altered to make Ironheart a must-see.

Real Reason Dominique Thorne Didn’t Want to Play Ironheart
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe isn’t done with introducing new characters to the big screens yet. While it is already in its final phase in the Multiverse Saga and headed toward a soft reboot after Avengers: Secret Wars, it is focusing on some of the lesser-known superheroes from the comics universe as well, like Dominique Thorne’s Ironheart.

Set in the world of Black Panther, the recently kick-started spin-off series Ironheart will see Thorne continue her run as Riri Williams in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after her official debut in Wakanda Forever. But as tremendous of a gig as this one is, Thorne confessed to having had her own reservations about accepting it in the first place!

5 crucial things to know about Ironheart's Riri Williams
Image
Around the 2015 event Secret Wars, Marvel Comics was in the process of creating new characters to continue the legacy of its veteran stars. This is why heroes like Miles Morales (Spider-Man), Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel), and Sam Alexander (Nova) were brought into the spotlight. To help promote them, they sided with Tony Stark during Civil War 2.

The trio hoped that their intervention would stop Carol Danvers from ruining innocent lives. They were joined by a mystery person in a bulky, but effective, version of Iron Man's armor. We later learn that it was Riri Williams. While little was known about her (and this was not her first appearance), she joined Team Iron Man. Considering their similarities, it wasn’t shocking.

With Marvel Studios’ Ironheart premiering on Disney Plus (and bringing Dominique Thorne's version of the character back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe), it seems like the right time...

Phenomena Book Three: The Secret

By Brian Michael Bendis and André Lima Araújo

Abrams ComicArts/144 pages/$25.99

I have to hand it to Brian Michael Bendis. The writer is far from a one-trick pony, and no two series have the same feeling. Here, partnered again with André Lima Araújo, he has come up with a light family-oriented science fiction epic that is rather satisfying to read. The third and final volume was just released and does a fine job wrapping it all up.

Apparently, from the back matter, this was Araújo’s dream project, something he’d been noodling on for years. Bendis added his patented way with dialogue, and they were off and running.

In the first book, we meet Matilde, an alien warrior, Spike, and a teen, Baldon. Set in an intergalactic realm, something called the Phenomena changed Baldon’s world. They meet up and have adventures in the...

Riri Williams starts thinking outside the box in the new trailer for Marvel’s Ironheart
Ryan Coogler
The adventures of Riri Williams continue after the events of Ryan Coogler‘s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Now, Williams is trying to find her own path to becoming a protector of the people. She encounters pushback from her loved ones for dedicating her intelligence to building Iron Man armor. As well as encountering a new threat in the form of Anthony Ramos’ new character. Ironheart premieres later this month and Marvel has now released a new trailer just prior to its release.

Dominique Thorne, who stars as the character to take up the Iron Mantle, stated, “What was interesting for me was how different Riri’s story and entrance into the MCU was in comparison to other characters. After bringing Riri to life in the world of Wakanda, we had an amazing opportunity to follow that up with a deep dive into the character that allows for the exploration of her origin story.

The Creator of The Sentry Pitched Him to Marvel and DC Multiple Times
Image
At the April 29 afterparty for the Thunderbolts* Hollywood premiere, comic book writer Paul Jenkins heard someone calling his name. When he turned around, he was surprised to see it was director Jake Schreier. Jenkins was flattered, but also confused. Afterall, it was Schreier’s big night. Shouldn’t he be too busy greeting well-wishers to talk to a comic book writer?

But Schreier earnestly wanted to know what Jenkins thought of the movie, in particular, Lewis Pullman’s Bob, better known as The Sentry. Jenkins co-created The Sentry in 2000 and spent time consulting on the movie, which has earned praise for telling a story of mental health struggles through the lens of a comic book feature.

“He was concerned that he’d adhered to something that had meaning,” says Jenkins, who indeed was pleased by both the movie and the character’s depiction.

Sentry’s path to the screen took decades.

Marvel Has Completely Screwed Over Ironheart’s Co-Creator: “A small share of that success feels only fair”
Image
The Marvel Cinematic Universe is all set to return to the screens with tons of new projects lined up, though the one closest to release this year seems to be garnering quite a bit of attention as compared to the rest. The next live-action piece in the talk is none other than Ironheart, the forthcoming television miniseries set to hit the screens in June this year.

One to have many more new faces debut in the universe after taking birth from the comics, this streaming show will be based on the comics of the same name. However, the surprising part is that Marvel is allegedly continuing with its unfair treatment of its comic book creators, considering co-creator Mike Deodato’s recent complaints about the same.

Ironheart Co-Creator Mike Deodato Hasn't Hasn't Been Paid for MCU Disney+ Series
Image
Even though Marvel and Disney+ are all in on Riri Williams / Ironheart, they haven't fully compensated the team that created the breakout character. Debuting in May 2016, Ironheart was created by Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis and artist Mike Deodato, marking her first appearance in Invincible Iron Man Vol. 3 #7. In less than a decade since she was created, Riri Williams has been featured in the animated series Marvel Rising and debuted in the Marvel Cinematic Universe with Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, setting up her own solo series set to debut on Disney+ in June 2025.

Ironheart co-creator Mike Deodato took to Instagram before the debut of the Disney+ trailer to share his mixed response to seeing his work adapted. In the post, he highlighted how the trailer recreates one of the scenes he drew from the comics, saying, "As a comic book artist, there are few feelings more satisfying than seeing...

Riri Williams Co-creator Says Marvel Didn't Pay Him Anything For Ironheart Disney+ Series
Image
When characters or storylines created by comic book writers and artists appear in Marvel films or series, the original creators are typically compensated with a one-time payment rather than ongoing royalties.

This compensation is generally modest, often cited as being around $5,000, and usually comes with an invite to the project’s red carpet premiere.

It's a gesture of goodwill on Marvel's part as often times, the company brings in artists and writers on "work-for-hire" agreements, and any characters, places, or other intellectual property created end up being owned by Marvel Comics and not the artists and writers.

This payout is frequently viewed more as a symbolic gesture than true compensation—an unspoken nod to the creator’s contribution, rather than a share proportionate to the massive profits these adaptations often earn.

For instance, Ed Brubaker was paid more for his cameo appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier than he...

Ironheart Creator Is the Latest to Call Out Marvel's Treatment of Writers and Artists: "Marvel, You Can Do Better"

In advance of the debut of the trailer for the Marvel Cinematic Universe adaptation of Ironheart, the character’s co-creator, Mike Deodato, has joined the growing number of former Marvel creators who have expressed apprehension about the company’s business practices, noting that “the compensation model” for artists and authors “hasn’t kept pace with the success” of the publisher and its movie studio wing.

5 comic book moments we need to see in Daredevil: Born Again season 2
Image
Viewers are eager for the return of Daredevil: Born Again with Season 2 on Disney+. Let's hope the action-packed Marvel drama pays homage to its source material and brings to life certain comic book moments.

During the first season finale, "Straight to Hell", Mayor Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) unleashed his wrath on New York. As Fisk's corrupt task force took over the streets during the blackout, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) recognized that they were about to face a growing number of enemies.

With Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), a.k.a. The Punisher, captured, their number of allies was dwindling. Murdock realized it would take more than Daredevil to end Fisk's reign of terror, telling Karen "We need an army".

Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’ Trailer: Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams Makes Own Iron Armor In Preview For Disney+ Series
Image
Disney+ has released the first trailer for Ironheart, the Marvel Television series executive-produced by Ryan Coogler and starring Dominique Thorne.

In the preview for the comic book-based series, Thorne’s Riri Williams is on a mission to create the ultimate armor.

Riri, a genius inventor, made her debut in Coogler’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.

“Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” said Coogler. “In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship—she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”

Ironheart: Riri Williams Battles The Hood In Action-Packed Trailer For Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Spin-Off
Image
As promised, the first trailer for Ironheart is here (a good couple of hours before Superman) and the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever spin-off looks like it'll take Riri Williams on quite the ride.

After helping Wakanda fend off Namor and the Talokan army, Riri returns home and searches for her purpose. She finds one courtesy of Parker Robbins, though that looks like it could take her down a dark path she may not be able to come back from.

This sneak peek doesn't play up the idea of "magic vs. science" that we've previously heard forms the basis of this series; instead, it's mostly about Riri's continued evolution and her building a new Ironheart suit. There's a hint that she and The Hood will clash, though, and Alden Ehrenreich's mysterious character (thought to be Ezekiel Stane) also makes his presence felt.

Ironheart wrapped shooting at the end of 2022 and...

Marvel’s ‘Ironheart’ trailer debuts: See first look at Ryan Coogler’s new Disney+ show with Dominique Thorne
Image
Long in the works, Marvel is finally ready to unveil Ironheart to the world.

On Wednesday, Marvel released the first trailer for the Disney+ series, which picks up after the events of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and has director Ryan Coogler as an executive producer.

“Ironheart is such a great character in publishing,” said Coogler in a statement. “In 2016, Brian Michael Bendis created a character who would be a successor of sorts to the Iron Man legacy. In the comic book, Riri Williams and Tony Stark had a relationship — she was a student at MIT who came from an almost polar opposite background as Tony, but they came together in their passion to better society. Eventually, the character gets her own identity as Ironheart, and other writers like Eve Ewing picked up from there, taking Riri Williams to Chicago.”

Dominique Thorne is reprising her role as Riri from Wakanda Forever.

Marvel has released the first official trailer for “Ironheart,” starring Dominique Thorne as a super-smart teen who creates her own powerful, Iron Man-inspired amor. The show will premiere on June 24 on Disney+ and run for six episodes.

This isn’t the first time Marvel fans have seen Thorne as Riri; she made her MCU debut on the big screen in “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.” Ryan Coogler, who directed “Wakanda Forever,” executive produces “Ironheart.”

In “Wakanda Forever,” Riri is a super smart MIT student from Chicago who invented her power armor suit and a vibranium detector that catches the eyes of Wakanda’s leaders, the underwater king Namor and the CIA. New Avengers Revived with New Roster, New Mission
Image
New York, NY— May 7, 2025 — In March, Marvel Comics announced that a new era of Thunderbolts was coming this June by writer Sam Humphries (Uncanny X-Force) and artist Ton Lima (West Coast Avengers). Today, a startling truth is revealed—in classic Thunderbolts fashion, this latest iteration isn’t at all what it seems! They’re the New Avengers!

Since their debut as a team of disguised supervillains, the Thunderbolts have become synonymous with unpredictable twists and unconventional rosters. This legacy continues with a surprise—and first-of-its-kind—comic book title change that echoes the jaw-dropping twist in Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts*, now in theaters, while introducing an entirely new—and shocking—team of heroes!

The Winter Soldier. Black Widow. Eddie Brock, Carnage. The Hulk. Namor. Clea. Wolverine. It’s a group of the most dangerous loners and antiheroes in the Marvel Universe, yet they’ll come together as the New Avengers! In classic Avengers fashion,...

Fortune & Glory: The Musical by Brian Michael Bendis & Bill Walko
Image
Brian Michael Bendis’s Hollywood memoir-in-comics Fortune & Glory was republished about two years ago, for no obvious anniversary- or thematically-related reason. At the time, I thought it was just a random new edition, but now it’s clear that it was setting up for what we might as well call a sequel.

Fortune & Glory: The Musical was published at the end of January – I don’t think it was serialized first, which is a little unusual for a book written by a guy like Bendis and published by an outfit like Dark Horse – and it tells a different story of a younger Bendis getting pulled into writing stuff for other creative media. While the first F&g centered on trying to turn his creator-owned early noir GNs into movies – Spoiler alert! it didn’t quite happen, though Bendis got contacts and contracts and some income for a few years and other...

The New Avengers Recruit Hulk for New Series, But It's the Villains Who Will Blow Your Mind
Image
The New Avengers are back, as Marvel gives the beloved team their own series after years out of the spotlight. A new roster including Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Carnage, Wolverine, Clea Strange, Namor and the Hulk will assemble, but wait until you find out who they're up against.

Fresh off recent events in the MCU, Marvel is releasing a new volume of New Avengers. Marvel promises "a revolutionary new era of Earth's Mightiest Heroes" in the spirit of the original team, created by Brian Michael Bendis and David Finch. The publisher is calling this team "Earth's Deadliest Heroes," as they go up against a threat that can't be allowed to survive.

Marvel had previously announced that Humphries' series would be a Thunderbolts title, however it's now been revealed that the roster will constitute a fresh version of the New Avengers. Shockingly, the team are going up against evil versions of...

Marvel Comics Retitles Upcoming New Thunderbolts* Series New Avengers Following Movie's Release
Image
Back in March, Marvel Comics announced that a new era for the Thunderbolts would begin this June with Sam Humphries and Ton Lima's New Thunderbolts* comic book series.

The inclusion of an asterisk raised eyebrows at the time, and like Marvel Studios' Thunderbolts*, the comic has revealed its real title: New Avengers!

Since their debut as a team of disguised supervillains, the Thunderbolts have become synonymous with unpredictable twists and unconventional rosters. This legacy continues with a surprise, first-of-its-kind, comic book title change that echoes the jaw-dropping twist in the movie, all while adding a fresh team of heroes to the Marvel Universe.

Here's what you can expect from the first issue of New Avengers:

The Winter Soldier. Black Widow. Eddie Brock, Carnage. The Hulk. Namor. Clea. Wolverine. It’s a group of the most dangerous loners and antiheroes in the Marvel Universe, and yet they’ll come together as the New Avengers!

'Ironheart' Was Approved by Iron Man Himself Robert Downey Jr.
Image
Riri Williams, aka Ironheart, has been positioned as the successor to Tony Stark / Iron Man, and it sounds like Robert Downey Jr. himself is more than cool with that. After being introduced in 2022's Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams' spin-off series, Ironheart, is finally arriving on Disney+ this summer to close out Phase Five of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the delays have left some fans skeptical about the series, the original Avenger that kicked off the MCU has given the series his full support.

Speaking with Empire, Ironheart star Dominique Thorne talked about the encouraging advice Robert Downey Jr. gave her. Soon after she finished filming Ironheart, the Avengers: Doomsday star showed his support for Thorne as an actress and Ironheart as a character, eager to watch the series. Thorne spoke about how Downey Jr. was supportive of her and how his words were reassuring:

The New Avengers Pushes Marvel Audiences Outside Their Comfort Zone
Image
[This story contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*]

Director Jake Schreier‘s Thunderbolts* caught many audiences by surprise this weekend. Not only in terms of what’s behind the name, which I’ll get to, but its lack of conventionality. The Marvel Studios movie proved to be a hit with critics who have been less forgiving of certain Marvel-isms of late. The positive reception feels like a legitimate game-changer for the MCU going forward. And not in the conventional way of box office records or audiences doing flips and screaming themselves hoarse in theaters. It’s a quieter, more profound and arguably more important kind of game-changer that once again shows that Marvel Studios is at its best when it leans on underdogs and defies expectations.

The cycle of proclamations claiming, “Marvel is over!” followed by, “Marvel is back!” has grown tiresome because neither is true. Marvel is simply here, a constant that, like all long-running franchises,...

Thunderbolts* Spoilers: The Meaning Behind The Movie's Mysterious Asterisk Has Finally Been Revealed
Image
Normally, we'd start a spoiler article like this with something along the lines of, "Thunderbolts* is now playing in theaters..." However, in a bid to increase buzz for the movie, Marvel Studios hosted fan screenings across the U.S. yesterday and held absolutely nothing back.

Even the post-credits scenes were shown, a courtesy which sometimes isn't even extended to the press at early screenings. As a result, spoilers are all over social media and Reddit.

So, about that asterisk. While it wasn't part of the title when Thunderbolts* was first announced, its addition has been a huge talking point among MCU fans for several months now. Social media scoopers were quick to claim that they'd discovered the truth, claiming that it stood for "New Avengers."

As it happens, they were right. The asterisk in Thunderbolts*'s title does indeed stand for New Avengers, with the team reportedly given the moniker...

'Sinners' Star Miles Caton Wants To Play Spider-Man in the MCU
Image
Sinnners breakout star Miles Caton wants to play an iconic Marvel superhero. Caton makes his feature film debut in Sinners, playing the role of Sammie "Preacher Boy" Moore, the young cousin of Michael B. Jordan's Smoke Stack twins. Moore has been a musical prodigy since childhood, and now, at just 20 years old, he is one of the stars of the number one movie at the North American box office, and one of the best-reviewed movies of the decade.

Caton is likely going to be in demand, but it looks like he has his eyes set on one particular role. In an interview with Variety, Caton was asked what type of movie genre he would most like to join, and he revealed that action is high on his list, specifically citing his love for Marvel. When asked which superhero he wanted to play, Caton alluded to none other than Miles Morales,...

“Sentry is stronger than the Avengers,” but Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Is Capable of Killing Sentry Mercilessly
Image
Sentry, a.k.a. Robert Reynolds, a.k.a. Bob, is set to make his MCU debut with Thunderbolts* releasing next month. The trailers for the film have hinted at Bob’s Void personality, confirming that Sentry will be a part of the upcoming film. The Thunderbolts consist mostly of powerless heroes, which is funny considering how powerful Sentry is in the comics.

The anti-hero is known for his incredibly powerful superpowers, which are often compared to Superman’s. While Bob is not that bad of a guy, his hidden personality, i.e., the Void, can take control of him and make him do dark things. Coupled with his insane powers, he has the capacity to vanquish any threat, except one Avenger.

Sentry’s powers make him a threat that is beyond even the Avengers Sentry in Thunderbolts* | Credits: Marvel Studios

Neil Patrick Harris Voiced Spider-Man In A Forgotten Animated MTV Series
Image
"Spider-Man" is one of the most popular superheroes of all time, and one that is quite versatile when it comes to adaptations. We've had several "Spider-Man" shows and movies, from live-action to animation and video games, each with a unique take, visual style, and tone. Tom Holland's boyish Peter Parker is vastly different from Jake Johnson's jaded Peter B. Parker and Tobey Maguire's tragic, mopey version of the character (which audiences voted as the single best live-action Peter Parker).

Even in animation, we've seen many different interpretations from voice actors across games, TV, and film, portraying Peter as an older man, a newcomer just getting started with his powers, or an established hero. Though there have been many animated "Spider-Man" TV shows, each with their own fans and defenders, one show is usually left out of the conversation — MTV's "Spider-Man: The New Animated Series."

This was a wild experiment.

Why Gwen Stacy Died In Marvel's Spider-Man Comics, Explained
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

It's been said that everyone dies twice: the second is when someone says your name for the last time. Gwen Stacy has never died that second death. Since "The Night Gwen Stacy Died" ran in "The Amazing Spider-Man" issues #121-122 back in 1973, Marvel will not let Peter Parker (or their readers) forget about his lost love, taken from him by Norman Osborn/The Green Goblin.

For the recent 52nd anniversary of Gwen's murder, Marvel shared an animated short (produced by Wild Comet Media and Apus Studio) re-enacting the story:

Jeff Trammell, creator of "Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man," has also confirmed that Gwen will be coming in the show's in-production second season. That news has Spidey fans tingling with excitement. What doesn't is the news that Marvel apparently plans to resurrect Gwen Stacy.

Avengers: Doomsday Casting Suggests Several Possible Marvel Storylines
Image
We may receive a commission on purchases made from links.

Will "Avengers: Doomsday" have room for Doctor Victor von Doom (Robert Downey Jr.) himself? The film's casting announcement confirmed not only many MCU regulars but also the cast of the forthcoming "Fantastic Four: First Steps" and several returning faces from the 20th Century Fox "X-Men" films. Some major Marvel character absences suggest this may not even be the whole cast.

"Doomsday" is going to be a two-part film, like the last "Avengers" duology, "Infinity War" and "Endgame." We can guess pretty concretely what "Secret Wars" will be: Doom will achieve godly power and rule over a realm called Battleworld. In broad strokes, that's what both the original 1984 "Secret Wars" and the 2015 one (by Jonathan Hickman and Esad Ribic) are about.

But "Doomsday" is less easy to predict. Beyond it introducing Doom, and presumably setting the stage for "Secret Wars," other...
