Robby Steinhardt, violinist and co-lead vocalist of the rock outfit Kansas, died Saturday, July 17th. He was 71.

An idea for a Supernatural/Smallville crossover wasn't exactly what you might expect.

Supernatural is currently enjoying its 12th season, and there's no end in sight. Smallville, the show that arguably made the CW into the genre show haven it has since become (and perhaps helped make Supernatural possible), took its final bow at the end of its 10th season.

Now imagine, if you will, a crossover between the two shows. It's easy if you try (sorry), especially given how crossover happy the CW is with their current crop of superhero TV shows. And why shouldn't they be? They're absolutely killing it in the ratings. But a Supernatural/Smallville crossover would have come at a time when such exercises weren't necessarily a slam dunk.

Now, keep in mind we're not talking about something as basic as the Winchester boys making a pitstop in Smallville, Kansas and teaming...

During an appearance on Late Show with David Letterman, Rudd, 46, proudly admitted to his three-decade membership in the Letterman fan club.

Both the Kansas City Film Critics Circle and the San Francisco Film Critics Circle announced their annual awards this evening, naming Paul Thomas Anderson’s The Master the best picture of 2012. The film also received Best Supporting Actor and Best Original Screenplay from Kansas City, while also taking Best Actor from San Francisco.

Kansas City didn’t really hold any other surprises other than an award that we don’t see much among critics groups, one awarded to the Best Science Fiction, Fantasy, or Horror Film of the Year. The recipient was the outstanding The Cabin in the Woods.

San Francisco spread their awards out quite a bit, giving two to several films including Zero Dark Thirty (Best Director and Best Original Screenplay), Lincoln (Best Supporting Actor and Best Adapted Screenplay), and Amour (Best Actress and Best Foreign Language Film).

About 56.6% of Disney‘s shares were cast in favor of its controversial executive compensation plan while 42.8% opposed — down from last year when 76.8% supported and 22.7% opposed – according to the preliminary results announced today at the annual meeting in Kansas City. Shareholders also elected the company’s slate of directors; numbers weren’t broken out for each member. Executive pay became a big issue this year after corporate governance analysts Institutional Shareholder Services (Iss) and Glass Lewis & Co urged investors to oppose the package in an advisory vote. Glass Lewis gave Disney a “D” grade on its pay-for-performance analysis — the fourth consecutive year Disney got the grade. “Overall, the Company paid more than its peers, but performed moderately worse than its peers,” the firm said in a recent report. It urged a “no” vote “to signal dissatisfaction with the Company’s executive compensation program and to compel the board and the compensation committee to take corrective action.

As Iraq War veteran J.R. Martinez hoisted the "Dancing With The Stars" Mirror Ball on Tuesday, countless injured warriors and burn victims walked away with the inspiration to carry on.

The last two bits of news we brought you about director Sam Raimi‘s forthcoming film, Oz The Great And Powerful were that Joey King and Zach Braff had joined the cast, as China Girl and Oz’s assistant respectively, and that iconic composer Danny Elfman would be scoring the film.

The press release came in today announcing the commencement of shooting on Sam Raimi‘s Oz the Great and Powerful, which stars James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Michelle Williams. Cinematographer Peter Deming (Evil Dead II, Drag Me to Hell) is back on Raimi’s crew and along with him is an all star lineup of technical wizards including two-time Academy Award–winning production designer Robert Stromberg (Alice in Wonderland, Avatar), Oscar-winning film editor Bob Murawski (The Hurt Locker, the Spider-Man trilogy), veteran Oscar-nominated costume designer Gary Jones (Spider-Man 2), visual effects Oscar winner Scott Stokdyk (Spider-Man 2, Spider-Man) and Academy Award–winning special makeup artist Howard Berger (The Chronicles of Narnia series). Filming began Tuesday on "Oz: The Great and Powerful," the star-studded new-spin prequel to "The Wizard of Oz," in Michigan, Disney announced. James Franco takes the lead as the young pre-Wizard, a magician who finds himself cast off into Oz. There he meets a sparkling group of sister witches -- both good and bad -- in Rachel Weisz as Evanora, Michelle Williams as Glinda and Mila Kunis as Theodora, and alongside his assistant, played by Zach Braff, he finds himself further and further immersed into the magical land.

Disney has announced that director Sam Raimi's new film Oz The Great and Powerful has started shooting in Michigan with actors James Franco, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz, Michelle Williams, Zach Braff and Joey King.

Who’S It For?: The content of this movie is safe for “families,” but no one’s brain cells will be spared. Even though it takes place at a zoo, no one’s going to learn anything. Except that animals are useless self-esteem coaches.

Expectations: Considering the success of Paul Blart: Mall Cop, it was curious to see what James’ next leading family comedy would turn out to be, especially with such a cast voicing his character’s animal friends. Would this be a Hollywood misfire,...

There's no point in getting into the details, as a review of Zookeeper will only confirm the obvious. So, instead of belaboring the point, let me just describe to you what I saw on the screen in the minutes before I blacked out.

It started in a T.G.I.Friday's, where Kevin James was having baby back ribs with a talking gorilla voiced by Nick Nolte. They were at the T.G.I.Friday's because it was the gorilla's birthday. The gorilla had been feeling sad ever since it was locked in a below-the-ground closure with no view of the rest of the zoo, which an assistant zookeeper played by Donnie Wahlberg had put him. The gorilla had of course explained all of this to Kevin James' character, Griffin, who is essentially a bumbling fat guy who falls down a lot and is nervous around women, i.e.
