Daryl Dixon’s Defining Spinoff Scene Challenges Rick Grimes’ Legacy in The Walking Dead Universe
Image
The latest episode of Daryl Dixon's spinoff reveals a chilling contrast between him and Rick Grimes, as Daryl resorts to psychological and physical torment in his ruthless quest for information. Daryl's journey into darkness has shaped him into an almost unrecognizable character, desperate for home and willing to embrace any level of violence. Daryl's evolution from a guardian figure to a desperate wanderer sets him apart from Rick, making him a multifaceted and intriguing protagonist in The Walking Dead universe.

The Walking Dead's haunting post-apocalyptic realm is a stage where characters confront moral crossroads, leadership issues, and the innate quest to prevail. For close to ten years, the story revolved around Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and his poignant journey of safeguarding his kin. But with the narrative shifting to Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus), we've delved into an even darker realm, contrasting sharply with Rick's era.

Rick and Daryl are...

Daryl Dixon's Darkest Spinoff Scene Reveals His Biggest Difference To Rick Grimes
Image
Daryl Dixon's darkest scene in The Walking Dead reveals his ruthless side, surpassing even Rick Grimes' actions. In his spinoff show, Daryl becomes even more brutal and violent, driven by his detachment and desperation to return to his group. Daryl's darker and more shut-off personality sets him apart from Rick, making him a unique and memorable antihero protagonist in The Walking Dead franchise.

The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon's darkest scene showed the biggest difference between Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln). After nearly a decade of being The Walking Dead's protagonist, Rick passed the torch to Daryl who became the focus of the main series for the last few seasons and now has his own spinoff. While there have been several Walking Dead spinoffs, Daryl is the first to have one focusing solely on him. It shows how important he has become to the franchise, yet...

You're the Worst (2014)
Review: A 'You're the Worst' tour de force takes a closer look at Edgar's Ptsd
You're the Worst (2014)
A review of tonight's You're the Worst coming up just as soon as I have a plan to stop being fax-dependent by the time of the next war... "It's just turning down the volume. It's not living." -Edgar Funny story: five minutes into "Twenty-Two," after that had been no discernible dialogue (when Edgar turned up at the breakfast table, Lindsay and the others sounded almost as muffled as an adult in a Peanuts cartoon), I emailed some folks at FX PR to confirm that there was nothing wrong with the screener. I was told that it was a stylized episode, and all was well. So I just went with the idea that we were experiencing life as Edgar unfortunately was at the moment: tuning out the people around him as his Ptsd symptoms worsen, instead focusing on nature and visual and aural hallucinations. It seemed a daring stylistic conceit, but...

'Walking Dead' Season 6 Preview Has Alexandria Under Attack
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
The fall TV season is officially in full swing, with several new and returning shows hitting the airwaves. But we still have a few more weeks before the ratings juggernaut The Walking Dead is back. To get fans ready for the Season 6 premiere, First Time Again, AMC has released a new preview, where the cast and producers offer new insight into this explosive season. Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and his group found a new home in Alexandria last season, but it seems clear that even in this idyllic place, shut off from the zombie-infested world around them, they still aren't completely safe.

Season 5 of The Walking Dead saw our group being formed into consummate survivors by the world around them... nearly making some of them into villains. To make it as far as they have - to have persevered through all of their heartbreaking challenges - they have evolved into incredibly powerful people.

'The Walking Dead' Season 6 Photos Unleash Fresh Zombies
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
Yesterday, Entertainment Weekly released the cover of this week's issue, which featured The Walking Dead stars Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon), and Melissa Suzanne McBride (Carol Peltier). Unfortunately, these images were for the magazine's photo shoot, and didn't depict any scenes from the upcoming Season 6. If those images weren't enough to get you that Walking Dead fix you so desperately need, then you're in luck, because AMC has released five photos featuring some of the new zombies Rick, Daryl, Carol and the rest of these Alexandria survivors will have to contend with.

AMC revealed the first trailer for The Walking Dead Season 6 during the show's Hall H panel at Comic-Con last month. The footage introduced one of the new characters, Ethan Embry's Carter, who doesn't seem to be a fan of Rick and his violent ways. Norman Reedus teased that this season will feature "a lot...

'The Walking Dead' Season 6 EW Cover and Cast Photos
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
Yesterday, fans were introduced to two new characters in Season 6 of The Walking Dead, Merritt Wever's Dr. Denise Cloyd and Ethan Embry's Carter. Today, Entertainment Weekly has revealed the cover of this week's new issue, which features The Walking Dead fan favorites Andrew Lincoln (Rick Grimes), Norman Reedus (Daryl Dixon) and Melissa Suzanne McBride (Carol Peltier). The cover image also features a clever reference to the delicious cookies Carol baked last season.

Season 5 of the hit AMC series ended in shocking fashion, with Rick killing the wife-beating Pete (Corey Brill), after the unexpected death of Reg (Steve Coulter). Just as that happened, Rick was reunited with his long-lost friend Morgan (Lennie James) and the season came to a close. We already saw in The Walking Dead Season 6 trailer that the new episodes will be rather intense, with several members of the Alexandria community, including Ethan Embry's Carter,...

'Walking Dead' Season 6 Photos Introduce 2 New Characters
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
During the Hall H panel for The Walking Dead at Comic-Con earlier this month, it was revealed that Emmy winner Merritt Wever and Ethan Embry have signed on, but it wasn't revealed who they are playing, and if their characters are from the original comic books by Robert Kirkman. Today, Entertainment Weekly has the first photos of these new cast members, revealing that Merritt Wever is playing Dr. Denise Cloyd from the comics, while Ethan Embry is portraying Carter. We also have a new photo of Corey Antonio Hawkins' Heath, who was introduced last month.

In the comics, Dr. Denise Cloyd is an Alexandria resident who is the town's chief medic, a role that becomes "critical" in Season 6, after the death of Pete (Corey Brill), another doctor, in The Walking Dead Season 5 finale. In the comic book, her surgical skills are put to the test after a gruesome injury,...

The Walking Dead Season 6 Trailer and Premiere Date Revealed! Rick's "Leadership" Is in Question
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
Let's be real: One of the best things about Comic-Con is the trailers and one of the best trailers to always come out of Comic-Con is for The Walking Dead. Those are just facts. The season six trailer is no exception! When we last saw the gang of zombie apocalypse survivors, Daryl (Norman Reedus) and Aaron (Ross Marquand) were rescued by a bunch of Wolves—deadly human scavengers—by Morgan (Lennie James). They returned to Alexandria just in time to see Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) put down Pete (Corey Brill) at Deanna's (Tovah Feldshuh) request. What a welcome for Morgan! Season six debuts with a 90-minute episode on Sunday, Oct. 11 on AMC. So how are things in Alexandria now? Well…watch the...

'Walking Dead' Season 6 Preview Goes On Set with Michael Cudlitz
Andrew Lincoln in The Walking Dead (2010)
With production currently under way on Season 6 of The Walking Dead in Atlanta, AMC has released a new behind-the-scenes video with star Michael Cudlitz, who plays Abraham Ford on the hit zombie series. The actor takes us through the set, chatting with co-stars such as Sonequa Martin-Green (Sasha), who hopes we learn more about the nefarious Wolves group from the end of Season 5. He also talks with Lennie James about Morgan finally reuniting with Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) in the Season 5 finale.

We also hear from Christian Serratos (Rosita) and Danai Gurira (Michonne), with Norman Reedus (Daryl) sneaking in to plant a kiss on Danai Gurira, unexpectedly. The video was shot while the stars were shooting the Season 6 premiere, which Michael Cudlitz reveals will "blow your minds." Sadly, none of the stars would divulge any specific plot details about the new season, but hopefully we'll learn more when the cast...

The Walking Dead Finale Recap: Keeping the Wolves from the Door
Carol Batay
For a community trying to build a civilization, the people of Alexandria have always been myopic. Unable to truly look at the bigger picture or to focus on more than one thing at a time, they betray a nearsightedness that has cost them some of their own people while the wolves circled ever closer.

In the season finale of The Walking Dead, "Conquer," Rick (Andrew Lincoln) managed, once again, to convince people that his way is the best way. Also, Father Gabriel (Seth Gilliam) was the worst, yet again, and one of our main heroes was nearly killed. An old friend finally returned,...

The Walking Dead Recap: Somewhat Damaged
Carol Batay
There have been some really well-chosen songs used in this season of The Walking Dead, but there was no more apt way to open "Try" than with Nine Inch Nails' "Somewhat Damaged."

The episode began with the aftermath of Aiden's (Daniel Bonjour) death, which was partly due to his own stupidity and unwillingness to listen – a fairly common disease among the population of Alexandria. Carol (Melissa McBride) tried to make nice by leaving a tuna casserole on the Monroes' doorstep with a note that read, "We're truly sorry for your loss." Deanna (Tovah Feldshuh) left the casserole and brought...

Five Mile Lake: Theater Review
Maybe you can’t go home again, though onstage that’s invariably what everyone does. Rufus (Corey Brill) left his forsaken hometown outside Scranton, Pa., to pursue his PhD in classics, while brother Jamie (Nate Mooney) remained behind to manage a donut shop and renovate their inherited old house by the titular lake. Jamie moons unrequitedly over his coworker Mary (Rebecca Mozo), who's feeling trapped after a failed engagement and caring for her traumatized and maladjusted combat veteran brother Danny (Brian Slaten). Ostensibly, Rufus has returned less to socialize with his roots than to find a retreat to thrash out the fraught
