With themes ranging from family, culture, faith, and sexuality, here is a list of standout works from the last ten years that offer an intimate lens into Indonesian society.

Wei blends culture, cuisine, and faith. Through the lens of food, Rustandi offers a unique take on the increasingly popular discourse of interfaith and intercultural relationships. While it doesn’t rely on complex cinematic techniques and might even fall short in several production aspects, many of its shots are beautifully arranged, with thoughtful composition and framing.
