Alexandra Shields
An LA-based playwright and screenwriter, Alexandra cut her teeth in Chicago's theater and comedy scenes, receiving multiple playwriting commissions and awards for her work. Most recently, Alexandra wrote two TV episodes for The Hive. Prior to that, she wrote two episodes of TV for Nickelodeon and Paramount+. She's also a copywriter with clients that include three USA Today bestselling authors and a political lobbyist. She also worked for several years in Scripted Development as a Creative Executive at Citizen Skull, a production and management company.

Her experience teaching drama to children of all ages has given her a deep respect for children's intellect, which she applied to her commissioned plays for children's theaters. As a neurodivergent, bisexual woman with multiple disabilities, Alexandra is committed to art as activism.

Disabilities didn't stop Alexandra from graduating with honors from Northwestern University in playwriting and theater for young audiences. While at Northwestern, Alexandra began utilizing her passion for uplifting minority voices and intersectionality by founding the award-winning student organization, Lipstick Theater.

Many of Alexandra's characters come from her "over-extended" blended family, which clocks in at eighty-nine people and counting. While her writing spans multiple genres, Alexandra's signature style is "anti-Chekhovian." Her characters never wallow in tragedy, instead finding a hundred wild ways to solve the problem.

Alexandra's boundless curiosity and zest for life led her to run three marathons, sing in a choir at Carnegie Hall, found a theater company with her husband, study Shakespeare at Oxford and Prague, co-host a podcast about The Wheel of Time book series (hosting the premiere of the Amazon adaptation in Chicago), and write articles for publications like Cracked.com, The Second City Network, and Inside Survivor in topics ranging from feminist superheroes to Survivor.
