Simone Ashley landed her first-ever role as a background character in 2015’s Straight Outta Compton. It was this small role that led to her appearances in episodes of Wolfblood and Broadchurch and her breakthrough role in Sex Education. Ashley’s casting in Bridgerton was announced when Season 1 of her other Netflix show became a major streaming hit.
Bridgerton gave her immense popularity and propelled her into a TV lead status. Fans of the regency romance drama would be thrilled to know that Ashley is reportedly part of The Devil Wears Prada sequel. Deadline reported that the actress has joined the ensemble cast, featuring Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci.
Ashley joined the cast after it was earlier reported that Kenneth Branagh was tapped for a role in the sequel. The new film will explore Meryl Streep’s character Miranda Priestly as she confronts the reality of the decline of the print industry.

Everyone stop what you’re doing: The Devil Wears Prada 2just added a major dose of Regency-era royalty to its fashion-forward sequel. Simone Ashley, best known for her scene-stealing role as Kate Sharma in Bridgerton, is officially joining the cast of 20th Century Studios’ long-awaited follow-up to the 2006 blockbuster, as per Deadline.
She’ll star opposite returning icons Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci, as well as recent addition Kenneth Branagh, who plays Miranda Priestly’s husband. Details of Ashley’s role are still under wraps, but with the film diving deep into a battle between old-school editorial and new era marketing magic and nous, it’s safe to assume she’s bringing more than a little edge to the runway. Groundbreaking.

Brad Pitt's "F1" (aka "F1: The Movie") recently hit theaters and has generated a great deal of buzz in the early going. Much of that has to do with its thrilling depiction of Formula 1 racing, thanks to the lens of "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski. "F1," as a result, was a big hit for Apple at the box office out of the gate. Unfortunately, though, one cast member who originally had a bigger role in the movie wound up having her screen time chopped down to almost nothing.
Simone Ashley, who many people will know as Kate Sharma from "Bridgerton" season 2, was originally set to star alongside Pitt, Javier Bardem, and Damson Idris in the racing blockbuster. However, her role was essentially cut from the movie, though she does briefly appear in a scene with no lines. So, what happened? In an interview with People, Kosinski explained...

Simone Ashley rose to fame after portraying Kate Sharma in season 2 of Bridgerton, and she’s now speaking out about some of the negatives that came along with her quick rise to being a celebrity.

If you were nervous about Jonathan Bailey and his fan-favorite character Anthony Bridgerton not appearing in future seasons of the hit Netflix historical romance, then worry no longer! The actor has made it clear he's not going anywhere, as long as the show keeps calling him back for more. With how much us fans love him, I'd hope the series would continue to do so.
The Bridgerton star recently spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about his time before the drama, teased a little bit of what's to come in season 4 (hint: he confirmed there is a wedding!), and told the news outlet about his successful career following his character's more central storylines in the first two seasons. The great news is that while we are waiting for the fourth season, coming in 2026, Netflix has already renewed the series for seasons 5 and 6. With these updates, Bailey is definitely in it for the long haul.

Season 2 of Bridgerton gave the audience one of the genre’s most electric love stories in the series so far. The slow-burn romance between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma has comfortably established its position as one of the best love stories in the Bridgerton franchise.
The season rose to popularity primarily because of the iconic “bane of my existence” scene between Jonathan Bailey and Simone Ashley. Delivered with an electrifying sense of desperation and urgency by Bailey, the impassioned confession became an instant cult-favorite and a classic Bridgerton reference.
That one Kanthony scene holds so much emotional weight that Season 3, despite strong performances, just failed to live up to the mark. While Colin and Penelope’s romance was no less fulfilling, I’m afraid Kanthony’s chemistry might have set the standards too high.

Bridgerton season 4 is still a ways away, so you know that means we'll take any little tease that we can get! Thankfully, we've had a first-look with the upcoming masquerade ball, some fantastically beautiful images of this season's central couple, Benedict and Sophie, and even a sneak peek clip of when this Bridgerton sibling first lays eyes on her.
Well, his onscreen older brother also had a tease to share. Jonathan Bailey, aka Anthony, the eldest Bridgerton sibling, spoke with The Hollywood Reporter recently about his career. Of course the hit Netflix historical drama came up, and he revealed a little spoiler about the upcoming season. He told the news outlet that he'd been "filming a wedding... People know that people get married in Bridgerton — that’s not a spoiler, right?”

As we continue to wait for an official Bridgerton season 4 release date, our eyes are on signs that filming has wrapped and which parts of the novels will make it to the story. At the same time, we’re getting a few teases of new cast members joining the series.
What’s On Netflix has the latest tea about new cast members, making Bridgerton season 4 grow bigger as the months roll along. It looks like most of the main production has finished, with the official wrap party already taking place, but there are still some smaller scenes that seem to be filming. This could also be reshoots, which are normal for post-production, and they’re part of the reason why post-production can take a few months.

After the news that Bridgerton Season 4 will officially be coming next year, we're learning a little more about the upcoming season. The season will be based on Julia Quinn's third Bridgerton book, An Offer from a Gentleman, and feature Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) as the leading man. Now, composer Kris Bowers is dishing on the music for the upcoming season as well as the connection to its prequel series, Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.
Bowers tells Shondaland that “I created a slightly different sound, which was a lot of fun in terms of fresh instrumentation and approach to the music for the Bridgerton world." He says, "There’s a slight connection to Queen Charlotte for me [personally] because of the fact that you’re seeing people who are maybe not as commonly seen in high society.” We also already know that the sound of Taylor Swift is returning once again to the series.

Netflix’s Bridgerton Sacrifices Kate and Anthony’s Chemistry to Stretch the Edwina Drama Pointlessly
Dearest gentle reader, the Viscount and Viscountess Bridgerton — yes, Anthony and Kate — are set to grace our screens once more, and I, for one, am positively beside myself. But there’s one relic from Season 2 I shan’t be pining for. What is you ask, gentlest reader?
Miss Edwina Sharma. After countless rewatches and many months of soul-searching (read: dramatic sighing and pausing at every Kanthony eye contact), I’ve finally come to a most unladylike conclusion.
I do not like her. Not even a little. Not even a whisper of affection remains.

More Bridgerton siblings will have their love stories told. Netflix’s hit Regency-era drama has received another two-season renewal, this time for Seasons 5 and 6. The pickup was announced at the streamer’s upfront presentation. No details have been provided but all signs point to the new installments focusing on Francesca (Hannah Dodd), whose love journey began in Season 3, and Eloise (Claudia Jessie), who has been a central character from Season 1, patiently awaiting her turn.

“Bridgerton” will continue its reign at Netflix with an additional two-season greenlight.
The Regency era romance series has been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 at Netflix, the streamer announced Wednesday during its upfront presentation in New York City. Netflix also announced that Season 4 will debut in 2026, but did not specify any specific release window beyond that.
“Bridgerton” Season 3 debuted in two parts in May and June 2024, respectively, while Season 2 premiered in March 2022 and Season 1 debuted in December 2020, so a spring or summer release for Season 4 looks likely. Filming for “Bridgerton” Season 4 kicked off in September 2024, just months after Season 3 dropped on Netflix, at Shepperton Studios in London.
Netflix similarly granted a two-season renewal for “Bridgerton” in 2021, bringing the series up through Season 4.
While the shocking conclusion of Season 3 led to fan speculation regarding which Bridgerton sibling could lead Season 4, Netflix announced the fourth installment will focus on Benedict (Luke Thompson), as...

While Netflix's "Bridgerton" isn't true to real English history in many ways, it does maintain a general accuracy when it comes to the ranks of the nobility, the customs of the Ton, and the nature of courtship during "the season". The order of importance and prestige in the aristocracy is never laid out explicitly on the show, but enough characters of different rank come and go that viewers can piece together some of the basics. In season 1, for instance, Simon Bassett (Regé-Jean Page) is a duke, which stirs up quite a fervor when he arrives in town and begins wooing Daphne Bridgerton (Phoebe Dynevor).
Simon is good friends with Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) as well, though their ranks aren't quite as comparable as you might assume. Anthony is a Viscount, inheriting the title from his late father. When he marries Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley) in "Bridgerton" season 2, she thus becomes his Viscountess.

Everyone talks about the Bridgerton glow-up, but no one really notices that it’s not as sudden as they think. The transformation is sprinkled throughout the seasons, hidden in little moments, and subtle shifts. It’s all intentional, so that when a character finally gets their spotlight, they can soar with open wings into the sky.
Something similar has been happening with Benedict Bridgerton. He’s one of the rare characters who captured the audience’s love the moment he appeared on screen. And to prepare viewers for his season, his attitude toward Kate Sharma, especially in one particular moment from the third season of the show, felt like a bit of overkill. Here’s what happened.
Why this Benedict-Kate moment felt forced in Bridgerton Season 3?
Benedict Bridgerton is one of the few characters in the series who has consistently held the audience’s affection without even having his season.

Bridgerton is one such show that has never shied away from using inanimate objects to show the emotions of our beloved characters. One such object, which may appear fairly inconsequential – and practical to say the least – at first glance, has transformed into one of the most meaningful reminders of Anthony Bridgerton’s love story. If you haven’t guessed it yet, yes, we are talking about Anthony’s pocket watch, which has developed a separate narrative of itself.
We are informed time and again during the episodes that Anthony Bridgerton (brought to life by Jonathan Bailey’s nuanced performance) received the heirloom pocket watch from his father, the late Edmund Bridgerton, on his eighth birthday. While the Netflix series cleverly wove the lore of the Bridgerton watch in the first season to portray Anthony’s emotional attachment to the timepiece, its glaring absence in the second season focused on the...

Dearest gentle reader, This author dares say: if longing were a scandal, then the wait for Bridgerton Season 4 would rival even Lady Whistledown’s juiciest exposé. For what is more delicious than a tale laced with wit, waltzes, and wayward heartbeats? Now, beyond the matters of the heart. Whilst Eloise and Benedict’s sibling rapport continues to bloom like a spring debut, one cannot help but note a conspicuous absence—a void of deeper bonds beyond ballrooms and banter.
Benedict and Eloise share a disdain for society’s constraints, yes. But this author’s quill trembles with the revelation that whilst Viscount Anthony battled duty, death, and desire, his siblings…well, they simply dallied.
It is high time, dear reader, that attention be drawn to the most underrated relationship in the ton: the poignant, oft-overlooked connection between Anthony and Benedict Bridgerton. Hidden beneath cravats and clever retorts lies a brotherhood worthy of candlelight and commentary.

While many of you might know the English actor Jonathan Bailey for his roles in Chewing Gum, Crashing, and the comedy series Campus—for us, he’s the swoon-worthy Viscount Anthony Bridgerton. Because this particular role of making ladies across the ton (and the internet) weak in the knees, in the hit Netflix series, is what catapulted Bailey to global stardom.
However, surprisingly, before he became Netflix’s heartthrob, Jonathan Bailey was waking up at 5 Am—not for horse riding or a secret affair with Siena Rosso—but to stir lemon curd in a honey factory. And guess what? This unexpected gig turned out to be the strange but sweet catalyst for his rise to fame.

By the time Edwina Sharma finally came to realize Anthony Bridgerton’s heart and soul belonged elsewhere, I could already sense myself missing the Duke and Duchess drama days. Can we talk about how Season 1 of Bridgerton took the streaming landscape by storm? Viewers weren’t just watching a show; they were devouring every episode like it was brimming with Lady Whistledown’s finest ton-related gossip.
It’s safe to say Season 2 somewhat tiptoed through the whole will-they-won’t-they minefield slower than a scandal at a garden party.
Season 1 was a proper carriage ride through scandal
Let’s go back to 2020, when Bridgerton first took over hearts along with Netflix charts. It wasn’t just a love story set against the Regency era; it was an absolute rollercoaster full of illicit art studio encounters, reputational peril, and a marriage that began as a sham and ended in fireworks. There seems to be something hypnotic about Bridgerton. I feel it’s the gown, the gossip, and the orchestral covers of pop songs. In all honesty, it’s one of my favorite forms of escapism, and if you’ve binged your way through all the seasons so far, you’ll probably agree that the show’s love stories are a bit redundant.
Don’t get me wrong, I live for a good slow burn, but there’s a pattern that I’ve seen all too many times now. The duo starts on the grounds of mutual disdain, only to have a predictable finale where they’re both head over heels for each other.
Been there and shipped that: The enemies-to-lovers arcs in Bridgerton

Dearest Gentle Reader, it has come to this author’s most discerning attention that while the eldest Bridgerton son carried the burdens of title, tragedy, and torrid tension, his brothers were merely rehearsing their tales of romantic unrest.
One cannot help but observe: Anthony Bridgerton walked through fire (and gardens) so that Benedict might wallow in bohemian angst and Colin could perfect the art of pining. While one wrestled with duty and desire, the others dabbled in daydreams and devotion.

Make no mistake – without the Viscount’s stormy season, the younger Bridgertons would’ve naught but scandal-free seasons and terribly dull storylines.

So far, we have seen three Bridgerton couples fall in love and marry after a series of hurdles and challenges. However, we can all agree that it was Kate and Anthony’s enemies-to-lovers storyline that stole our hearts.
While their love story was unique and quite different than what Julia Quinn had originally written, the one thing that Bridgerton season two made increasingly clear was: Kate Sharma was the heart of the season.

Simone Ashley’s breakthrough performance in the season, of the sharp, duty-bound, emotionally layered character, was what immersed us in the drama, however, Anthony Bridgerton’s turbulent family dynamics stole the show.

One of the most popular alternative history regency romance series on Netflix is Bridgerton. Created by Chris Van Dusen and Jess Brownell, the series, set during the early 19th century, is an adaptation of the book series of the same name by Julia Quinn.
The popularity and success of the show were seen since the premiere of the first season, as fashion and interior design trends started to get influenced by the show’s aesthetic, which was dubbed Regencycore or the Bridgerton Effect.

Bridgerton, now in production for its fourth season, has had a positive response from the audience and critics. The audience, especially women, appreciated the fact that the show goes on to explore the power of the written word from a female perspective and has strong female leads.

The whirlwind success of Bridgerton’s first season in 2020 was nothing short of sensational. It wasn’t just another run-of-the-mill period drama, but a true cultural reset. At the center of it all was the magnetic Simon Basset- The Duke of Hastings, played by the inarguably handsome Regé-Jean Page.
His portrayal of the tall, dark, and desirable Duke and the palpable chemistry between him and Daphne (Phoebe Dynevor) put him on the global radar of stardom almost immediately.

So when it was revealed that he won’t be returning for season 2, fans all across were naturally devastated. In hindsight, his not returning may have been the best thing for the show.
Why did Regé-Jean Page exit Bridgerton?

Unless you've completely sworn off all of Netflix's original series, it's pretty hard to have completely avoided "Bridgerton." The lush period romance took the streamer by storm, becoming one of Netflix's most watched series in no time at all. Revolving around the romantic exploits of a prolific Regency-era family, "Bridgerton" spends each season focusing in on one of the family's adult children as they search for love in the midst of the drama-laden London society.
But even if you've seen "Bridgerton," you would be forgiven for having all of the different characters mixed up in your head. There are a lot of people to keep track of, even just within the immediate Bridgerton family, without considering all of the various side characters. (It certainly doesn't help matters that the actors playing the three eldest brothers are difficult to tell apart at first glance.) If you find yourself wondering, "Wait,...

Bridgerton is one of Netflix's hit series, based on Julia Quinn's bestselling book series of the same name. The series, set in Regency-era London, follows the titular family and its children on their journey to find love.
The series, which premiered on Netflix in 2020, follows an anthology-like format, switching the main characters every season to allow every Bridgerton sibling to get their chance at glory. The show kicked off with Phoebe Dynevor's Daphne Bridgerton, the second-oldest child and the eldest daughter, and Regé-Jean Page's Simon Bassett. The latter recently addressed whether he would be willing to reprise his role as the Duke of Hastings in a new interview with Entertainment Tonight.
While promoting his latest film, the spy thriller Black Bag, the actor was asked about returning to Bridgerton. Although the romance series follows a different main couple every season, most of the other characters return to reprise their roles,...

Change is once again coming to Bridgerton. As has been the case from the start, the new season will welcome a changing of the guards as the focus shifts from one Bridgerton to another. In this case, we’ll finally get to see Luke Thompson’s Benedict taking center stage as Netflix adapts the third book in Julia Quinn’s series, An Offer from a Gentleman.
With the series shifting attention onto Benedict’s love story, we’re about to see a wave of new characters making their Bridgerton debuts including his love interest in the season Sophie Baek to be played by the amazing Yerin Ha. This also means that cast departures are inevitable and that some characters will be taking a smaller role in the season as the attention shifts to this new story.

We're in the long waiting period once again between seasons of "Bridgerton," which brings the tempting prospect of pivoting to Julia Quinn's novels to find out what happens next. It's been confirmed that "Bridgerton" season 4 will focus on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), the second son of the eponymous family. However, Benedict's journey through the Netflix series has been quite different from his characterization in the novels, which means that "Bridgerton" season 4 might make some big changes from the source material.
In the books, Benedict is the star of "An Offer from a Gentleman," the third novel in the series. Netflix skipped to book four, "Romancing Mr. Bridgerton," which focuses on Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan), for season 3, and is now going back for Benedict's big love story. Bridgerton season 2, episode 6, "The Choice", features the long-awaited wedding between Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) and Edwina Sharma (Charithra Chandran) but Anthony's feelings for someone else can't be subdued for long. "The Choice" comes right off Bridgerton season 2, episode 5, "An Unthinkable Fate", often regarded as one of the best episodes of Bridgerton ever, meaning a lot was riding on this season 2, episode 6. A new crop of characters in Bridgerton season 2 has raised the stakes for everyone, but particularly for Anthony.
Since meeting the Sharma's in the season 2 premiere, Anthony has been taken by Kate Sharma (Simone Ashley), the older half-sister to Edwina. However, Anthony ends up proposing to Edwina in season 2, episode 4, "Victory", because he specifically does not want to marry for love, seeing the heartbreak his father's death caused his mother. Instead, he wants someone to check all the boxes, a diamond as it were, which Edwina was named in the season premiere.

Production on “Bridgerton” Season 4 kicked off this fall, though original star Phoebe Dynevor revealed she hasn’t heard anything about getting to return to the Netflix romantic drama series.
The streamer announced in September 2024 that production on Season 4 — led by Luke Thompson’s Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha’s Sophie Baek — was officially underway, but despite Dynevor appearing in the show’s first two seasons, she said she’s “still waiting for that call.”
“I mean, they’ve not called me yet, and I think they’re shooting Season 4 right now,” Dynevor said in a Thursday interview with The Direct about her potential return. “So, I’m still waiting for that call.”
