‘The Hunting Party’ Season 2 Gets Bumped From NBC’s Fall Schedule in Surprise Shake-Up
Image
NBC is the latest network to unveil its lineup for the upcoming TV season, and, like its counterparts, it comes with a few surprises. The newly announced schedule includes premiere dates for fan favorites like the One Chicago and Law & Order franchises, as well as comedies Happy’s Place and St. Denis Medical. Even second-year drama, Brilliant Minds, is set to return this fall. However, one notable absence is The Hunting Party, NBC’s other sophomore series. The procedural crime drama premiered in January 2025 and, despite a slow start that had many predicting cancellation, it managed to secure a second season renewal. While the original plan was to launch Season 2 alongside the network’s returning fall lineup, that’s no longer the case.

The Hunting Party Season 1 aired Mondays at 10 p.m., following Law & Order and Law & Order: Svu. After its Season 2 renewal, NBC initially planned for the show to return to that same timeslot.

In Cold Light Review: A Fever Dream in Neon and Dust
Maika Monroe at an event for Greta (2018)
Freedom is a fleeting illusion, a brief gasp of air before the inevitable plunge. For Ava, released from a two-year prison sentence, the world she re-enters is not a clean slate but the same cage, just with wider bars. Her return to Ponoka, a town etched into the rugged Alberta landscape, feels less like a homecoming and more like a surrender to gravity.

Here, amidst the dust of the rodeo and the ghosts of past glories, the criminal life she sought to shed clings to her like a second skin. The film wastes no time in re-submerging her, where a violent rupture—the swift, brutal murder of her twin brother—catapults her from the purgatory of parole into the hell of being hunted.

Her existence is immediately compressed into a singular, desperate objective: survival. The presence of her father, Will, a former rodeo champion locked in a world of silence and stern judgment,...

Saban Films Acquires Maika Monroe Crime Thriller ‘In Cold Light’ Ahead Of Tribeca Premiere
Image
Exclusive: Saban Films has acquired U.S. rights to In Cold Light, a crime thriller starring Maika Monroe (Longlegs), as well as Academy Award winners Troy Kotsur (Coda) and Helen Hunt (As Good As It Gets), which is slated to world premiere in the Spotlight section of the Tribeca Festival on June 7.

Marking the first English-language feature from Canadian filmmaker Maxime Giroux, the film will be released in theaters nationwide later this year.

In Cold Light is set in a fractured city where loyalty is currency and violence speaks loudest, following Ava (Monroe), who’s newly released from prison and ready to reclaim her territory — until she witnesses a brutal crime that forces her to run. Hunted by enemies and haunted by her past, Ava is pulled into a desperate fight for survival.

Script is by Patrick Whistler. Yanick Létourneau produced for Peripheria, alongside Mike MacMillan of Lithium Studios (Mobile Homes). Executive produced by XYZ Films and primarily financed by Telefilm Canada and Sodec, with additional investment from Ipr.Vc, the film’s ensemble also includes Allan Hawco, Jesse Irving, Patrick Sabongui, and Noah Parker.

In a statement on the acquisition, Saban Films co-presidents Jonathan Saban and Shanan Becker said, “Maika Monroe is a star of the highest order. Her talents are on full display in this electrifying thriller. Surrounded by Academy Award winners Helen Hunt and Troy Kotsur, In Cold Light is a tour de force on every level.”

Commented producers Létourneau and MacMillan, “We’re excited to have Saban Films on board for the U.S. release. Their enthusiasm for In Cold Light and their commitment to giving it a proper theatrical life in the U.S. is exactly what we were looking for.”

Jonathan Saba repped Saban Films in the deal, with XYZ Films’ Nate Bolotin and Pip Ngo repping the filmmakers.

NBC tweaks Law & Order fall lineup after devastating cast departures
Image
Law & Order laid the foundation for the interconnected procedural dramas that dominate networks today. It's hard to imagine a TV landscape without the franchise, and yet, it has been subjected to the same trials and tribulations as its peers. Svu has been forced to write two detectives off before its next season, Joe Velasco (Octavio Pisano) and Kate Silva (Juliana Martinez), and now, the franchise will have a new show following it on Thursday nights.

Law & Order used to hold down prime time on Thursday night by itself, between Law & Order, Law & Order: Svu and Law & Order: Organized Crime. The third of these shows was moved over to Peacock, however, meaning there's a huge vacancy where the Christopher Meloni-led series once was. And the network is going to try to fill it with a new series (again).

If you're struggling to think of what show...

‘The Hunting Party’s Fate Has Been Decided Following the Season 1 Finale
Image
The Hunting Party concluded its final season at the end of April, and NBC has finally decided on the future of the series. The network has ruled that The Hunting Party, which is streaming on Peacock, has been renewed and will receive a second season. The Hunting Party premiered alongside other shows such as original dramas Suits: LA and Grosse Pointe Garden Society, and it was the strongest performer of the bunch, which was enough to earn it another season. The Hunting Party debuted with a shocking 0% from critics on Rotten Tomatoes, and it finished its first season with an 18% but an 81% rating from audiences on Rotten Tomatoes. After receiving only 10 episodes in Season 1, The Hunting Party Season 2 will move to an 18-22-episode season, and it's expected to be released later this year or early 2026.

‘The Hunting Party’ & ‘Brilliant Minds’ Renewed For Season 2; NBC Plans To “Lean Into” Them In 2025-26
Image
NBC has picked up freshman drama series The Hunting Party, starring Melissa Roxburgh, and Brilliant Minds, headlined by Zachary Quinto, for a second season. Both are part of the network’s September-October fall schedule unveiled today. Brilliant Minds, from Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Prods, is staying in the post-The Voice Monday 10 Pm slot while The Hunting Party, from Universal Television, is moving to Thursdays 10 Pm.

Besides the five Dick Wolf series, The Hunting Party and Brilliant Minds are the only other current NBC series to make it to next season amid a bloodbath at the broadcast network which canceled a slew of scripted series in anticipation of NBA’s arrival on the schedule next fall.

This is a changing of the guard in NBC’s scripted lineup as all four non-Wolf returning scripted series are from this season’s freshman class, The Hunting Party, Brilliant Minds and comedies St.

6 NBC shows I need to see renewed by May 2025
Image
It’s that time of year when we know that more cancellations and renewals are likely to come. There are still far too many shows on the bubble, and it’s hard to call which way the networks will go with some of the shows. That’s certainly the case with the NBC shows.

While I would love to see everything make it through because I think the hard work of the cast and crew deserves to be recognized, there are certain shows that I want to see more than others. I’m invested in the storylines and the writing, or the shows have already ended on cliffhangers that I need answers to. Here are the six NBC shows I need to see make it through to the 2025–2026 TV season.

The explosion sets dozens of killers free, changed in surprising ways by their incarceration but just as deadly. Criminal profiler Rebecca “Bex” Henderson (Melissa Roxburgh) is asked to lead a team to round up the killers, including her former partner Oliver Odell (Nick Wechsler), CIA agent Ryan Hassani (Patrick Sabongui), and Pit prison guard Shane Florence (Josh McKenzie), before all hell literally breaks loose.

At WonderCon, alongside other press members at several roundtable interviews, The Direct’s Jeff Ewing interviewed Roxburgh, McKenzie, Weschler, Sabongui, creator J.J. Bailer, and producer Jake Coburn about the process of designing deplorable killers, character secrets,...

"There's No Aliens": Melissa Roxburgh Compares 'The Hunting Party' to 'Manifest'
Image
Melissa Roxburgh is back at NBC but not in a reboot of Manifest, the mystery show she starred in for five seasons. The actress is now leadingThe Hunting Party, "a high-concept crime procedural about a small team of investigators who are assembled to track down and capture the most dangerous killers our country has ever seen, all of whom have just escaped from a top-secret prison that’s not supposed to exist," according to the official description. The shows are similar in that they're all driven by mystery, but some aspects set them apart. During a set visit at which Collider's Samantha Coley was in attendance, Roxburgh was asked what makes The Hunting Party different from Manifest. "Manifest was very sci-fi based, and so there was like an out-of-world, out-of-body experience on that one," the actress responded. She added:

"The difference here is that it's grounded in reality to a large degree.

“The Lines Got a Little Blurred”: ‘The Hunting Party’ Co-Showrunners Break Down Bex and Oliver’s Relationship
Image
Bex (Melissa Roxburgh) and Oliver (Nick Wechsler) have a history in The Hunting Party, not just as work partners but also as lovers. Even so, viewers shouldn’t expect romance or rekindled affection between the two, who will supposedly remain professional. Still, considering their history, showrunners JJ Bailey and Jake Coburn shed more light on the dynamic of their relationship; maintaining romance is not essential given the show's setup. During a set visit at which Collider's Samantha Coley was in attendance, Bailey said:

“There's a little more of like a mentor-mentee relationship from the past that we explore sort of crossed some lines that maybe got uncomfortable just before sort of their big blow up, but we sort of found that you know it wasn't a needed romantic relationship where we landed with that."

Before Bex split with the FBI, she worked on a case with Oliver, who, as...

NBC shows on the bubble so far in 2025 (Which NBC shows could be canceled?)
Image
There are some great NBC shows still on the bubble. That’s nothing too major to worry about just yet, as we’re only into March. NBC has a habit of waiting until closer to the May Upfronts to make some final decisions.

However, with so many shows on the bubble, we can look at the ones likely to be renewed and canceled. While NBC doesn’t only just rely on the linear ratings, this is usually a strong indication as to whether a show will get another chance.

Something I do want to point out is that Friday and Sunday linear ratings tend to be lower than other nights, and that is something that needs to be considered when look at the ratings to determine which NBC shows could be canceled.

NBC shows likely canceled: Grosse Pointe Garden Society, Lopez vs. Lopez, and more

I hate to put this new series on the list,...

Found’s Gabrielle Walsh & Arlen Escarpeta Tease Lacey & Zeke’s Shifting Dynamic, Jamie Mystery, and More!
Image
If you think you love Found‘s Lacey and Zeke as individual characters, it may pale in comparison to how fond you may be of their portrayals.

They’re incredibly talented, passionate artists who have nothing but the utmost respect for their characters, craft, the series, and one another, and it’s a pleasure to see and hear this respect in action.

TV Fanatic had the privilege of catching up with Walsh and Escarpeta to discuss the evolution of their characters during Found Season 2, the shift in the dynamic between Lacey and Zeke, and so much more.

(Mark Hill/NBC)

If you’ve been tuning into this incredible series, you’d know that Found Season 2 is, as I described it to the pair, “all gas with no brakes.”

The season has been absolute madness, as they’ve pulled out all the stops and gone in so many directions we couldn’t have anticipated.

Doc Post-Mortem: Patrick Walker On Tj and Amy’s Origins, Their Rift & Season Two Excitement
Image
If you’ve closely followed our coverage, you’ll know we’re crazy about Doc.

And we’re not alone. The breakout hit medical drama is dominating network television and becoming one of the most successful new series of the year.

The series is coming to a close of its first season, but fortunately, Doc has cemented a pleasantly surprising 22-episode season two renewal, and we can find comfort in knowing that we’ll spend more time with all of these great characters.

(Courtesy of Fox)

One of the characters we’re most excited to learn more about is Tj Coleman, played by the affable and charming Patrick Walker.

During Doc Season 1 Episode 9, we finally learned about Tj and Amy’s history, how they met, and how she inspired him to become a doctor.

I’m Worried About The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 19 Amid Tamra Judge’s Shocking Departure
Image
Since joining The Real Housewives of Orange County in 2007, Tamra Judge has been one of Bravo’s most polarizing faces.

She’s brought so much to the show, but people seem to think she’s the most toxic reality TV star.

Sure, Tamra has brought a lot of off-screen drama to help the show maintain its status as one of the most popular entries in the venerable Real Housewives franchise.

(Bravo/Screenshot)

In the past, Tamra hasn’t cared about being dragged over the coals because if it makes for good TV, she’s on board.

Tamra had a rough go of it during The Real Housewives of Orange County Season 18 as she kicked off the season by teaming up with Alexis Bellino to take down Shannon Beador.

(Sami Drasin/Bravo)

These shows swing in roundabouts, and it’s Tamra’s turn for the hot seat when Season 19 debuts because...

Cruel Intentions’ Failure Is Further Proof Prime Video Needs to Leave Legacy Franchises Alone
Image
There’s so much great TV out there, and most isn’t derived from legacy franchises.

Prime Video didn’t seem to get the memo because it continues to bring these excellent properties back to screens without the thrill of their predecessor.

The latest effort, Cruel Intentions, based on the hit movie of the same name, premiered in November 2024 and was pretty much ignored.

(Prime Video/Screenshot)

The 2024 version of Cruel Intentions was a below-average teen drama at best, playing out more like Max’s canceled Gossip Girl reboot, which had some redeeming qualities at the very least.

The 1999 Cruel Intentions had a compelling plot and a cast that included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Ryan Phillipe, Reese Witherspoon, and Selma Blair.

(Courtesy of Amazon MGM Studios)

As the lame follow-up movies can attest, you can’t reinvent the wheel without the cast that made it such a success in the first place.

The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 6 Saw The Trio Hunt An Arrowverse Icon
Image
While most episodes of The Hunting Party focused on violent serial killers before and after their release from the Pit, “Arlo Brandt” differed from the previous ones.

Played by David Ramsey (Arrow), Arlo Brandt used to hoard possessions and bodies but escaped from the Pit with a renewed purpose.

As seen on The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 6, he’s become almost like a religious cult leader, hoping to force everyone to eliminate their possessions and become like him. It’s eerie, and it’s up to the trio to discern what’s behind his deranged mind.

(David Astorga/NBC)

Additionally, Bex gets impatient and condronts Oliver about information about Silo 12. This could affect their relationship moving forward.

Finally, Shane’s family mystery begins as he tries to learn more about what his dad knew, and someone else stops by the senior center.

NBC’s The Hunting Party has the potential to become the next popular procedural since it examines the psyches of serial killers and includes the overall mystery of why they escaped the secret prison called the Pit.

Patina Miller on Raq’s Struggles and Power Plays in Raising Kanan Season 4
Image
The past three seasons of Power Book III: Raising Kanan have been tough for Raq, and it doesn’t look like things will be changing in season four.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan Season 4 Episode 1 looked back at the events of season three through a different lens, and it was a difficult time for Raq, who had some secrets she was carrying.

The tension and estrangement between Raq and Kanan was still pronounced and showed no signs of thawing, and that relationship will once again be at the forefront of the Power spinoff.

When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10 Review: As One Mystery Ends, Another Begins
Image
Tonight’s installment of When Calls the Heart exceeded my expectations and was on par with the early episodes of Season 12.

Many characters were used well on When Calls the Heart Season 12 Episode 10.

While there was room for improvement, many arcs neared completion, and new ones began.

(Jeff Weddell/ Hallmark Media)

Among other things, McGinty showed his true colors by suing Lucas and threatening Allie with a trespassing fine, and one of the highlights was seeing the men of Hope Valley band together.

Georgie McGill (Melissa Gilbert) also returned for more answers about the gold. She and Rosemary started off on the wrong foot but grew to respect one another.

The spoilers and weekly promo hinted that Jack went missing, but that’s not the story we got. Let’s dig in a little deeper.

The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 6 Spoilers: It’s an Arrowverse Reunion When David Ramsey Guest Stars As A Serial Killer
Image
The Hunting Party has used some talented guest stars as their serial killers.

We’ve landed a massive one for The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 6. The spoilers indicate that David Ramsey will portray Arlo Brandt, a hoarder turned serial killer.

This will be exciting since it will reunite Arrowverse actors David Ramsey and Patrick Sabongui, who worked on The Flash as John Diggle and Captain Singh, respectively.

(David Astorga/NBC)

John Diggle was mainly a hero, so seeing Ramsey portray a serial killer will be intriguing. We hope more of his fans will tune in for this one.

Additionally, since Hassani and Bex learned about Silo 12’s existence, they will likely poke Oliver for more information.

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 4 “Doctor Ezekiel Malak.”] The serial killer the team pursues in The Hunting Party Episode 4 does to his victims what Melissa Roxburgh considers, so far, to be the darkest moment of the show. As they discover, he’s been killing his victims only to bring them back to ask them about the moment of clarity they experienced at the time of death (which he says he did). The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 3 Spoilers: The Team Tracks A Brutal Serial Killer Obsessed With Wolves

The Hunting Party keeps pulling audiences in with suspenseful cases and intriguing team dynamics.

At the end of The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 2, Jacob Hassani hinted that Oliver knew more about the Pit explosion than he revealed.

That will likely put Bex between the two men on The Hunting Party Season 1 Episode 3 as she debates who to pledge her allegiance to.

Spoilers for the main case indicate that the team tracks down a violent serial killer named Lowe, who is also obsessed with wolves and hunters.

This one sounds messy because the team must track her in rural Montana and stop her before she harms anyone else and before the local rangers enforce their form of vigilante justice.
