Biography

    • Merin Mary Philip is an Indian actress active in the Malayalam film industry, recognized for her compelling performances in films such as Vaathil (2023), Anchakkallakokkan (2024), and Sookshma Darshini (2024). Originally from Anchal, Kerala, she spent much of her upbringing in Abu Dhabi, where she cultivated an early passion for the performing arts.

Her introduction to acting began at the age of nine when theatre artist Biju Ishkannela guided her into theatre, leading to participation in various stage plays. By fourteen, she had joined the East Nela theatre group and later trained under Rajeev for Kadhaprasangam, a traditional Kerala performing art form. Her academic journey includes schooling at St. John's School in Anchal and Sunrise English Private School in Abu Dhabi, followed by a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Gregorian College of Advanced Studies, Thiruvananthapuram, and a course in journalism at the Institute of Journalism, Press Club, Trivandrum.

Merin transitioned to cinema with her debut in Poomaram (2018), directed by Abrid Shine, where she played a supporting role. She gained prominence as the lead actress in Happy Sardar and has since appeared in several Malayalam films, earning critical acclaim, notably winning the Best Supporting Actress award at the 22nd Santosham Film Awards for Vaathil in 2023. Alongside her film career, she has modeled for various print advertisements and magazine covers, contributing to the fashion industry.

Beyond her artistic pursuits, Merin is an animal lover and enjoys traveling. Her dedication to theatre and cinema, combined with her diverse talents, has made her a notable figure in contemporary Malayalam entertainment. Through her work, she continues to influence the regional film landscape, blending traditional performing arts with modern cinematic expression
