The idea for And Mrs feels like it was hatched after somebody stumbled upon the word necrogamy during a Wikipedia search. Necrogamy is a marriage in which one of the engaged is dead and was originally intended to provide financial support for war widows. First-time feature director Daniel Reisinger aims to use necrogamy as a unique way of exploring the idea of overcoming grief, with Aisling Bea playing a Londoner who decides to proceed with her wedding despite the untimely death of her fianc (Colin Hanks).

But Reisinger hides what little he has to say about dealing with such heartbreak behind the safe spaces of rom-com conventions and Melissa Bubnics anything-for-a-laugh script. While no one was expecting Harold and Maude-levels of risk and reward, Reisingers occasionally amusing film takes a well-meaning idea and drowns it in strained comedy, removing too much of the real-life messiness from it.

Over 50 years of British sci-fi television, the genre went from one golden age to another. The 1970s gave us bleakly devastating visions of the future, the 1980s gave us space invasions and comedy, the 1990s blended crime drama with sci-fi, and the 2000s remade shows from the 1970s and gave us Christopher Eccleston as two kinds of god.

The image, shot during filming on location in Croatia, shows Oscar winner Winslet as the pioneering American photographer who covered WWII in Europe for British Vogue.

Filming is ongoing on the directorial debut of respected cinematographer Ellen Kuras (Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind).

The film is not being called a biopic by Winslet and the producers, but it does explore the most significant decade of Lee Miller’s life. As a middle-aged woman, she refused to be remembered as a model and male artists’ muse and defied expectations by travelling to Europe to report from the frontline. There, in part as a reaction to her own well-hidden trauma, she used her Rolleiflex camera to give a voice to the voiceless. What Lee captured on film in Dachau and throughout Europe was shocking and horrific.

The life of England’s Prince George is being parodied in HBO Max’s The Prince, the 12-episode series premiering in one full batch at midnight Thursday. The project was originally delayed in May after the death of Prince Phillip.

The Prince is a biting, satirical look at the life of Prince George of Cambridge as he navigates the trials and tribulations of being a royal child. The youngest heir to the British throne will be voiced by creator Gary Janetti, who popularized the character and his royal adventures via his Instagram page.

By the looks of the new trailer, neither Prince Harry (Orlando Bloom), his wife Duchess Megan Markle (Condola Rashad) nor the rest of the family will be spared in the name of comedy—not even Queen Elizabeth (Frances de la Tour).

HBO Max will drop all 12 episodes of the animated British royal family satire series “The Prince” at midnight on Thursday. The show, executive produced by “Bob’s Burgers” alums Joel Kuwahara and Scott Greenberg, and produced by Leanne Moreau (“Young Justice”), looks at Buckingham Palace’s residents and staff through the eyes of Prince George — the eldest child of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge.

Writer and executive producer Gary Janetti, who has written for shows like “Family Guy” and “Will & Grace,” will voice Prince George. Despite an intensive online effort by a dedicated fan base, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency is closing down for good. The eclectic series was canceled by BBC America in December, following a slow but steady decline in ratings from a disappointingly received first season.

Based on the character created by legendary science fiction satirist Douglas Adams, Dirk Gently centered around the adventures of the titular detective (Samuel Barnett).

He introduced readers to Hap and Leonard and took us to the drive-in, but thanks to the film adaptation of his 1994 novella, writer Joe R. Lansdale is known by many for resurrecting Elvis, who recently returned in a Bubba Ho-Tep prequel novella by Lansdale. Now, the legendary author is teaming up with Idw Publishing to bring The King back to life in Bubba Ho-Tep and the Cosmic Blood-Suckers, a new comic book series adaptation premiering this March:

Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency, which starred Wood (Wilfred) as the titular crime solver’s trusty-ish sidekick, will not return for a third season, our sister site Deadline reports.

We've lost a lot of inspirational figures in the horror genre this past year, including the great Bernie Wrightson, a brilliant artist, co-creator of the Swamp Thing and passionate fan of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. Following his seminal illustrated version of Shelley's Frankenstein that was initially released in 1983, Wrightson recently teamed up with Steve Niles for a comic book series called Frankenstein, Alive, Alive, and Idw Publishing announced that the final issue of the series will be released in January, with artist Kelley Jones stepping in to finish what Bernie started, as per the legendary artist's wishes.

“Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency” enters its second season on BBC America on Saturday, but that doesn’t make the sci-fi/mystery/comedy/adventure series is any easier to summarize — even with a year under its belt. A new season doesn’t bring clarity, rather even more chaos and lunacy. Perhaps this is because it’s wholly the creation of Max Landis, who only kept the hero and the absurdist tone from Douglas Adams’ novels on which the series is based.

The Season 2 trailer, which BBC America released on Wednesday, reveals that Dirk (Samuel Barnett) and his pal Todd (Elijah Wood) will be reunited by the law. Meanwhile, Todd’s sister Amanda (Hannah Marks) appears to have figured out how things are connecting also. And it’s very quick, but we’re happy to see the corgi has returned as well as Bart (Fiona Dourif) looking a little bit sooty and the newly bearded Ken (Mpho Koaho). There’s also a prince with pink hair.

Only loosely based on the Douglas Adams of the same name, the first season of “Dirk Gently” took the title character on an original murder mystery adventure in which time travel, a kitten, and shark bites were involved. The story also included a cute corgi, creepy bald guys, a group called the Rowdy 3 that comprises four guys, and a maniacal assassin who believes she’s destined to kill certain people.

Beloved British actor Sir John Hurt passed away at the age of 77 after battling pancreatic cancer. The two-time Oscar nominee had over 200 acting credits to his name, including “Alien,” “V for Vendetta,” “The Elephant Man,” the “Harry Potter” franchise, and most recently Pablo Larraín’s “Jackie.”

Following the announcement of his death on Friday, his Hollywood peers and friends paid tribute to him on social media, sending their condolences and remembering the great times they’ve had together, as well as his incredible filmography.

Forget that it's an adaptation and this new, overstuffed Dirk Gently series is actually an agreeably daft watch...

Despite the perpetually stuck sofas and the alien ghosts and time travelling, Douglas Adams’ delightfully nutty book Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency somehow completely hangs together. For all its weird digressions and laundry list of characters it was clear there was a method to the madness, and with Adams we were always in safe hands. There was never the sense that either Dirk Gently or the follow-up, The Long Dark Tea-Time Of The Soul was too scattershot and ultimately, Adams more or less pulled his various narrative strands together. Could the latest attempt to adapt the story for TV pull off the same thing?
