Akanksha started her film journey working in the camera department in Mumbai on regional
television projects as a trainee and then began to freelance as an editor and cinematographer for
corporate films and documentary projects. After earning her MFA in Cinematography at
the American Film Institute Conservatory, she is now working as a Cinematographer based
in LA. She is driven towards surrealism and hyper-realistic stories and her goal is to find
new ways of visually motivating narrative film. Her recent short Afloat (2022) has
screened at several festivals including the Independent Silent Film Festival 2022 and won
the Best Cinematography Award at the New York Cinematography Awards 2022.
