‘Color Book’ Review: A Newly Widowed Dad and His Son With a Disability Rebuild in Moving Indie Debut
When Lucky lets himself lean ever so slightly into the groove of a soul classic playing on the radio of his newly purchased old ride, it is a moment of understated beauty the understated gem “Color Book.” The same holds for writer-director David Fortune’s debut. He slides into a precise yet gentle groove in telling the story of Lucky (William Catlett) and his 11-year-old son Mason (Jeremiah Daniels) as they begin navigating a space rearranged by an unexpected, upending death. To state that Lucky is the newly single dad to a child with Down syndrome seems both apt and somehow overstates what is handled with an unblinking, quiet care.
“Color Book” delivers lo-fi pleasures and struts high-fidelity clarity. Yet, what this spare drama truly offers is a new category. Call it “deep fidelity,” in which the filmmaker captures without flash or pretense the material, emotional and even spiritual lives of his protagonists.

Everyone knows NASA was a notoriously boring place in the summer of 1969. Nothing going on but smoking and stirring Tang. Thankfully, in Apple TV+'s Fly Me To The Moon, Channing Tatum and Scarlett Johansson inject some human drama into the horn-rimmed hallways of Merritt Island's Launch Operations Center. The Rom-Com-Dram, which dropped in theaters this past July - and spent an unusually long time in "rent or buy" limbo - is finally getting a streaming date this December 6th. Per the synopsis:
"Brought in to fix NASAs public image, sparks fly in all directions as marketing wunderkind Kelly Jones wreaks havoc on launch director Cole Daviss already difficult task. When the President deems the mission too important to fail, Jones is directed to stage a fake moon landing as back-up and the countdown truly begins"
Taking a lighthearted romp through one of the classic crackpot conspiracy theories, Fly Me To The Moon...

“Lodge 49” has been renewed for a second season at AMC ahead of its Season 1 finale.
The series is described as modern fable set in Long Beach, California about a disarmingly optimistic local ex-surfer, Dud (Wyatt Russell), who’s drifting after the death of his father and collapse of the family business.
In the first season, Dud found himself on the doorstep of a rundown fraternal lodge, where a middle-aged plumbing salesman and “Luminous Knight” of the order welcomes him into a world of domestic beer, easy camaraderie and the promise of Alchemical mysteries that may or may not put Dud on the path to recover the idyllic life he’s lost.
In addition to Russell, Jennings, and Cassidy, the series also stars Linda Emond, David Pasquesi, Eric Allan Kramer, Avis-Marie Barnes, Njema Williams, and Jimmy Gonzales.
Series creator, writer and executive producer Jim Gavin will return for Season 2 along with showrunner Peter Ocko.
