Vikings: Valhalla ended with its third season, leaving many loose ends and big storylines unexplored, but it also robbed the audience of the biggest and best Ragnar replacement. After the success of Vikings, the show expanded with a sequel series titled Vikings: Valhalla, set over a hundred years after the events of Vikings season 6. As such, Vikings: Valhalla followed new characters with different backgrounds and goals, though all of them connected through their Viking heritage. Vikings: Valhalla covered the final years of the Viking Age, beginning with the St. Brices Day Massacre.
Vikings: Valhalla followed siblings Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett) and Freydis Eirksdttir (Frida Gustavsson), who meet Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) when they arrive in Kattegat. The three become very close, and they team up with King Canute (Bradley Freegard) and against Haralds half-brother, Olaf Haraldsson (Jhannes Hawker Jhannesson), all this with the conflict between Christians and pagans as the backdrop.

Kattegat in Vikings is inspired by the real sea area between Denmark, Norway, and Sweden where dangerous waters hide deep history. Vikings: Valhalla showcases Kattegat's transformation into a massive trading port led by a fictional character Jarl Haakon. While Kattegat may be mythical, most other locations in Vikings and Valhalla are real, adding authenticity to the epic series.
The Kattegat Norway location is central to Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla, though the truth of whether Kattegat is a real place isn't simple. Created by Michael Hirst, Vikings debuted on History Channel in 2013 and was originally planned to be a short miniseries. As Vikings season 1 was very well received, there was a change of plans, and it was renewed for season 2 and beyond. The Vikings' spinoff Vikings: Valhalla returned to the location a century later, and there had been some major changes that took place in Kattegat, Norway, over the 100-year gap between Vikings and Vikings: Valhalla.

Vikings: Valhalla won't continue storylines set up in season 3, including Alfred's tragic fate. The real Harold Harefoot became King of England, and had Alfred tortured and killed. Alfred's murder by Harold Harefoot would have turned the latter into a villain in Vikings: Valhalla.
As Vikings: Valhalla ended with its third season, it won't continue the storylines it set up, including a very tragic one from Queen Emma's (Laura Berlin) side. Set over 100 years after the events of Vikings season 6, Vikings: Valhalla explores stories from the final years of the Viking Age through new characters, all of them connected through their Viking heritage. Vikings: Valhalla follows the highs and lows of siblings Leif (Sam Corlett) and Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), Norway's Harald (Leo Suter), Queen Emma of Normandy, and King Canute (Bradley Freegard), the first Viking king of England.

Editor's Note: The following contains spoilers for Season 3 of Vikings: Valhalla.Vikings: Valhalla Season 3 is now available to stream on Netflix. Creator Jeb Stuart never hid away from the fact that, though this show requires a huge amount of research (with the help of Vikings history specialists working on the show), it was also his job, as a storyteller, to fill in the gaps, to mix up the dates and the characters' relationships to deliver an understandable and entertaining story to the audience. Now that we can learn what happens to Freyds Eirksdttir (Frida Gustavsson), Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), and Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter) after the terrible battle of Kattegat at the end of Season 1, we thought we would take a moment to find out if the London Bridge collapsed as shown in the first season, or if Leif and Harald's brotherhood was as strong in real life, or yet,...

Harald Harefoot didn't kill King Forkbeard, but he might have been murdered. King Sweyn Forkbeard died in 1014 at the age of 50 under mysterious circumstances. Vikings: Valhalla deviates from historical accuracy in its portrayal of King Forkbeard's actions.
Vikings: Valhalla season 3 had many twists and turns, including King Canutes second son, Harold Harefoot (Pyry Khknen), killing his grandfather, King Sweyn Forkbeard (Sren Pilmark), but did this actually happen? It’s the end of an era: Vikings: Valhalla has passed on to the great medieval banquet in the sky. The Netflix series, a spinoff of the popular History Channel drama Vikings, catapulted the story several hundred years into the future to follow the stories of some of the most famous figures from the Icelandic legends and sagas. Full of epic battle sequences, a sprawling cast of characters, and a focus on the increasing tension between politics and religion, the series may have some dodgy bits when it comes to historical accuracy, but it’s certainly an exciting ride.
Netflix announced that the third season of Valhalla would be the series’ last earlier this year, though it doesn’t always feel as though this run of episodes was necessarily meant to serve as the show’s conclusion. Thankfully, whether this was...

Vikings: Valhalla is coming to an end with its third season, and it must address Canute's storyline and tie up loose ends. Canute, although not a main character, played a big role in season 1 as leader of the Viking army and King of England. Season 3 needs to explain Canute's actions in Denmark between seasons 1 and 2, explore his marriage with Emma, and address his promise to Harald.
Netflix’s Vikings: Valhalla is coming to an end with its third season, and as such, the final episodes have to give one important character the attention he deserves. The stories from the Viking Age weren’t over with the end of Vikings, and they continue in the sequel series Vikings: Valhalla. Set over a century after the events of Vikings, Vikings: Valhalla follows a new group of characters, leaving Ragnar, Lagertha, Ivar, and the rest behind, though their accomplishments and legacies have been mentioned a couple of times.

The Vikings sequel series, Vikings: Valhalla, continues to tell the stories of Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett), Harald Sigurdsson (Leo Suter), and Freydis Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson), but it also continues to make Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) even more impressive. Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continues the stories of Leif (Sam Corlett), Harald (Leo Suter), and Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), and while it was an exciting season, it also confirmed that it will never beat its predecessor: Vikings. Although Vikings covered the first years of the Viking Age and explored the stories of legendary figures like Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha, there are many more stories to tell, and that’s where Vikings: Valhalla comes in. The sequel series to Vikings is set over 100 years after the events of the main series, following a new generation of warriors struggling with different issues, with the conflict between Christians and pagans at the core.
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 saw Leif, Freydis, and Harald reuniting briefly following the invasion of Kattegat, and while Olaf (Jóhannes Haukur Jóhannesson) put a price on their heads, Freydis was taken to Jomsborg, and Leif and Harald traveled to Novgorod before sailing to Constantinople.

Vikings: Valhalla had a couple of surprises up its sleeve, the biggest one being the storyline between Queen Emma (Laura Berlin) and Godwin (David Oakes), with the former giving the latter’s wife a ring that provoked a very interesting reaction from Godwin – and here’s what the ring really means to him. Vikings: Valhalla is split into different stories, and while its main focus is the title Vikings (both pagans and Christians), the series also focuses on the English royalty, mostly as England got a Viking king in season 1 thanks to Canute (Bradley Freegard). Vikings: Valhalla season 2 continues the story of King Canute, Queen Emma, and Godwin, with the latter two’s relationship fracturing beyond repair.

Vikings: Valhalla is set over 100 years after the events of Vikings, and as such, it follows a new generation of warriors and royals who are carrying on the legacy of Ragnar Lothbrok, Rollo, and more. Season 1 saw the conflicts between Christians and pagans and England getting a Viking king after King Canute of Denmark took over, and season 2 continues these stories but with a different focus.
Vikings: Valhalla season 2 saw Freydis (Frida Gustavsson), Leif (Sam Corlett), and Harald (Leo Suter) briefly reuniting before parting ways again, with the former going to Jomsborg and the rest traveling to Kyivan Rus. Meanwhile, in England, Queen Emma (Laura Berlin) finds out that someone very close to her wants her dead,...

This weekend, Netflix is welcoming a true crime documentary, the second season of a TV series about the Viking Age, and a drama movie based on a book. Last weekend, Netflix kicked off the first week of 2023 with the addition of the action movie 10 Minutes Gone, season 2 of Love Island, and season 11 of The Walking Dead, along with the documentary series Madoff: The Monster of Wall Street, season 2 of Ginny & Georgia, Nicolas Winding Refn’s TV series Copenhagen Cowboy, and the mystery thriller movie The Pale Blue Eye, starring Christian Bale and Harry Melling.
This weekend, Netflix won’t see much licensed content added to its catalog, with the addition of the limited series Scattered Barriers, the Indian movie Thai Massage, and the Nollywood movie The Wait. All eyes, then, will be on this weekend’s original content, which is bringing titles from different genres, so there surely be something for everyone to enjoy.

The Vikings: Vallhalla review is spoiler free
The first season of Vikings spin-off Vikings: Valhalla had a lot to recommend it, from its sprawling cast of major characters and nuanced exploration of the tension between politics and religion to its massive action setpieces and incredible production values. But after a first season that saw a Viking army literally bring down London Bridge, many viewers are probably wondering where on earth the second season of Valhalla could possibly go next. And the answer is: Literally everywhere.
The second season of Vikings: Valhalla is bigger and bolder in every sense of the word, from the scope of its setting and the breadth of stories it’s telling to the sheer number of characters onscreen. There are more storylines, more bloodshed, and even more physical countries than we’ve ever seen before, as the primary narrative fractures into several major arcs and each...

Vikings: Valhalla is a series created by Michael Hirst and Jeb Stuart starring Sam Corlett, Laura Berlin and Bradley Freegard among others.
Today we get to see the second season of Vikings: Valhalla, a series that has known how to collect all of the essence of the preceeding series and transform it into something that is even better and richer. It knows how to make good use of all the film achievements of Vkings, but recreating the impact of the violence and extracting to advantage its barbaric and devastating essence.
This is a prequel that combines history and action, which taken to the most spectacular, has known how to reach millions of viewers with this subtle combination that works so well for some and leaving the sticklers for history rather unsatisfied.
A good, really good second season that continues the rhythm and speeds it up delivering more with regards to the first season.

Season 1 of Vikings: Valhalla on Netflix saw the type of pillaging and plundering that would make Odin proud. During show developer Jeb Stuart's epic first season which sees the Vikings blaze new trails and reshape Europe, we also get to know a small group of Greenlanders that includes show leads Leif Erikson (Sam Corlett) and Freydís Eiríksdóttir (Frida Gustavsson) as they brave the rough waters from their home country of Greenland to the Viking hub city of Kattegat to join a larger group that has vowed revenge against England and the Saxons for the slaughter of all their Danish brothers throughout the country by England's King Aethelred II (Bosco Hogan). The army of Norsemen is led by King Canute (Bradley Freegard), who has visions of uniting all the Vikings under one English flag. Meanwhile, a war is also waged over the religious differences of a Christian faction and their pagan counterparts within the group.
