90 Day Fianc star Colt Johnson hasn't always been easy to love, but I'm feeling for him right now... as he faces the possible amputation of his leg, Colt is probably terrified. I'm a cochlear implant recipient, so I understand what it's like to become disabled. I lost most of my hearing, and then had some of it restored.
However, I've never had to go through an operation as serious as the one that Colt might need.
I think it's easy for most of us to imagine the horror and the dread that inevitably accompany a "possible amputation" diagnosis, but few of us can really feel his pain. Only those who've gone through the same thing can truly understand. It's a journey that so many people have had to take, including the beautiful runner and model, Aimee Mullins, who competed in the Paralympic Games. She had both legs amputated when she was a child.

On Tuesday evening, Meryl Streep, Kevin Kline and Peter MacNicol hosted a special screening of Sophie’s Choice at New York’s Museum of Modern Art, presented by Lanvin, in celebration of the recent 40th anniversary of Alan J. Pakula’s seminal work.
“We’re a few of the only ones standing that made this film,” Streep said when introducing the movie alongside her co-stars. “There are a few still here: my hair and makeup artist, Jo. Roy Helland, and I believe my wardrobe woman, the great Alba Schipani. But the visionaries for Sophie’s Choice are not: the great writer William Styron, the beautiful soul that was Alan Pakula, and the master of light, Nestor Almendros, cinematographer, not here.”
MacNicol then shared a surprising anecdote about Almendros. “[He] was legally blind and wore eyeglasses that were as thick as Coke bottles,” the actor recalled. “I used to go up to the Thalia...

Directors like Steven Soderbergh and Tomas Alfredson have proven they can make great horror movies, but they haven't returned to the genre. Despite their success in horror, some directors, like Jonathan Demme and Kathryn Bigelow, have never made another horror movie. James Gunn's directorial debut, "Slither," was a hit in the horror genre, but he has since focused on other genres like action and superhero films.
While there are many directors known for making horror movies, there are others who have only visited this genre once, even though they proved they can make great horror movies. The horror genre is a tricky one as making a movie that perfectly balances good stories, well-written characters, and scares is not easy. Many directors dedicate their entire careers to the horror genre, bringing both great and not-so-good movies, while others go back and forth between horror and other genres, giving some balance to their filmographies.

Five years ago, with Beto O’Rourke mounting an electrifying campaign to unseat Ted Cruz from the U.S. Senate, Democrats seemed hopeful that the political winds were shifting in Texas to one day make it a purple state. He ultimately lost by 2.6 percent amid a record turnout for a mid-term election.
Since then, Democratic hopes for turning Texas into a swing state have diminished. In the 2020 presidential election, Donald Trump made gains with Hispanic voters. And the state legislature has become increasingly conservative with a host of bills signed this year by Republican Governor Greg Abbott that include barring public universities from creating Dei offices, banning transgender athletes from college sports, and restricting labor rights. In 2022, abortion was banned in the state following the overturning of Roe v. Wade.

When you think of Rupert Friend, chances are you remember his five seasons as CIA operative Peter Quinn on “Homeland” or his turn as the Grand Inquisitor on “Obi-Wan Kenobi.” But recently he’s become the latest member of Wes Anderson’s acting troupe, following up his role in 2021’s “The French Dispatch” with the Cannes Palme d’Or contender “Asteroid City” and the Roald Dahl anthology “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” now in post-production at Netflix. Variety spoke with the U.K.-born actor about his eclectic career, his upcoming feature writing/directing debut and why he had a “revelation” that he should be the next James Bond.
What’s your role in “Asteroid City,” and what can we expect from the film?

The recent revelation that Eleven could have killed her mother in Stranger Things season 2 would have profoundly affected the show. Since escaping from Hawkins National Laboratory, Jane Hopper/Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) has twice saved Hawkins, Indiana, and the rest of the world from the shadow realm of the Upside Down. More than this, each passing season of the show has revealed more about her time in Hawkins Lab and the experiments conducted to facilitate her psychokinetic powers. As a result, the extent of the trauma in her young life was revealed. This was perhaps best illustrated by the fate of her birth mother, Terry Ives (Aimee Mullins) after Eleven was effectively stolen by rogue scientist Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine).
Of all the tragic events in Stranger Things, few have been greater than what happened to Terry Ives when she tried to get her daughter back. This culminated with Dr.

I've lost count of how many times I've watched something wacky or frustrating unfold in "Stranger Things" and asked myself, "Why?" Over the past six years, the writers' room for the massively popular Netflix series has made decisions that are alternately exhilarating, awesome, and unfathomable. The show has soaring high points, but also some repetitive bits, and a few truly head-scratching narrative decisions. So it should come as no surprise that the choices they've left on the cutting room floor are often just as mind-boggling as the ones that were left in for the final cut.
The "Stranger Things" writers confirmed as much today with tweets that revealed two alternate plotlines for the show's second season, both of which involved core characters murdering their loved ones. The writers' room's official Twitter first shared that "a possessed Will was going to kill Bob," before admitting to an even more shocking plot twist.

As fans get ready for the much-anticipated final season of “Stranger Things,” the writers of Netflix’s hit sci-fi series are sharing the wild storylines that almost happened in the show’s earlier seasons.
“Crazy shit that almost happened #2: In season 2, Eleven was going to mercy kill her mother,” the show’s writers wrote on their verified Twitter account. In the second season of the series, Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown), decides to hunt down her birth mother, Terry Ives (Aimee Mullins). She eventually finds Terry in a catatonic state and is able to access her memories, discovering that Terry was a test subject in Dr. Brenner’s lab experiments.

You might know Rupert Friend from his notable appearances in films and TV shows over the years. The British actor started his career in the early 2000s with roles like the cunning charmer George Wickham in "Pride and Prejudice" and CIA officer Peter Quinn in Showtime's "Homeland." He's been busy with projects ever since, even dipping into screenwriting and producing. Now, he is the lead in the Netflix political thriller series "Anatomy of a Scandal" and will play the Grand Inquisitor in "Obi-Wan Kenobi," the upcoming "Star Wars" spin-off series from Disney+.
While his professional life is packed, his romantic life hasn't been as busy. The actor has publicly dated only a few people over the years, and he's currently off the market. From his "Pride and Prejudice" co-star Keira Knightley to athlete Aimee Mullins, here are all of Rupert Friend's romances over the years.

Devs Episode 3
We may not yet know all of what is happening behind the scenes of Devs, but at the start of the third episode a stern Katie outlines two strict rules: “We don’t look forward, we only look back. We don’t invade privacy.” The latter seems to set Amaya apart from other tech companies, ethical enough to not use their powers to invade private citizens’ lives. But the former… implies that that power is terrifying.
The fact that this conversation takes place because Katie caught Stewart and Lyndon watching Marilyn Monroe have sex with Arthur Miller distracts from the machine’s great and terrible potential. Instead, theirs is a specific, even cheeky conversation about a particular moment in time—Katie rolling her eyes at the machine as excuse for homemade porn, and Stewart defending that two humans having sex (even if they...

Lee Alexander McQueen was just 40 when he hanged himself at his London home in 2010, on the eve of his mother’s funeral. His suicide made headlines. But it was the revolution he started in fashion that is still being felt and fiercely debated – you don’t escape censure when you tag your early 1990’s collections with names like, “Jack the Ripper Stalks His Victims” and “Highland Rape.” The designer insisted his work reflected the brutality of the world without colluding with it. The argument about that still rages.

If you've ever wondered what kind of horror thriller that director Steven Soderbergh would make, wonder no longer because the first trailer for his new film Unsane has been released, and it looks great! Oh yeah, I should probably mention that the entire movie was also shot on an iPhone. This just goes to show that you don't really need much these days to make a good movie. All you really need is a solid story and script.
The story for the movie follows a young woman, played by Claire Foy (The Crown), who is "involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she faces her greatest fear – not knowing if it is real or part of her delusion."
I'm a fan of Soderbergh's work and it looks like he's made yet another intriguing and thrilling movie that audiences will enjoy. I love the tone of the film and that the...

"It would be better for everyone, especially yourself, if you would just do what I ask." Fox has debuted the first official trailer for Steven Soderbergh's latest film Unsane, which will be premiering at the Berlin Film Festival in-competition in a few weeks. Unsane is also Soderbergh's latest film that was shot entirely on an iPhone, which isn't new (see Sean Baker's Tangerine) but it is another impressive attempt at subverting the typical idea of using big cameras and film stock to make movies. Unsane follows a troubled young woman who is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear - but is it real or is it a product of her delusion? Claire Foy stars in the film, with Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins and Amy Irving. Soderbergh has been talking about how we can't tell this was shot on an iPhone,...

If you watched Steven Soderbergh’s new project Mosaic on the app when it was first announced, you likely saw it via iPhone. For his next film, he’s shot entirely on the Apple device a la Tangerine. Starring Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, and Amy Irving, the first trailer for Unsane has now arrived.
Written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the psychological horror film will premiere at Berlinale and arrive shortly after in March, and it likely won’t be the last time the director will use a mobile phone in filmmaking. “I think this is the future,” he tells Indiewire. “Anybody going to see this movie who has no idea of the backstory to the production will have no idea this was shot on the phone. That’s not part of the conceit.”

Modern technology and secret shoots drive Steven Sodenbergh’s first foray into horror with upcoming thriller Unsane.
Steven Soderbergh loves his new iPhone so much he shot a whole movie on it. The director of Traffic, Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven and Side Effects will self-distribute his first horror movie Unsane through his Fingerprint Releasing via Bleecker Street, the same team that brought his crime drama Logan Lucky to cinemas earlier this year. The screenplay was witten by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer.
Unsane tells the story of a young woman who “is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear — but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?”
Unsane stars Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, Amy Irving, and Jay Pharoah, who described the film as a "reality-horror type" of movie, similar to Jordan Peele’s Get Out.

Director Emily Carmichael has created a fantastic sci-fi comedy short that you’ve gotta check out! It’s called "Stryka," and it centers around the life of a strong reptile-like alien character from another world, her partner, and their life in crime. The story is set in a futuristic Brooklyn, New York and this is the synopsis:
Stryka is an awesome reptile woman from another planet who does heists and odd jobs with her (literal) partner in crime, Callen. But she has a secret–she’s been stealing with somebody else. (She just wants a partner who cleans up well enough to pull off a fancy jewel heist once and a while–is that so wrong?) Anxious about her career in thievery and torn by her loyalty to competing thieves, Stryka has to figure out where she belongs. Luckily, she has a highly advanced robot therapist to talk it over with.
