Released in December 1982, he movie follows Stingo (MacNicol), a young writer, who moves to Brooklyn in 1947 to begin work on his first novel. As he becomes friendly with Sophie (Streep) and her lover Nathan (Kline), he learns that Sophie is a Holocaust survivor. Flashbacks reveal her harrowing story, from pre-war prosperity to Auschwitz. In the present, Sophie and Nathan’s relationship increasingly unravels as Stingo grows closer to Sophie and Nathan’s fragile mental state becomes ever more apparent.

If you watched Steven Soderbergh’s new project Mosaic on the app when it was first announced, you likely saw it via iPhone. For his next film, he’s shot entirely on the Apple device a la Tangerine. Starring Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, and Amy Irving, the first trailer for Unsane has now arrived.

Written by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer, the psychological horror film will premiere at Berlinale and arrive shortly after in March, and it likely won’t be the last time the director will use a mobile phone in filmmaking. “I think this is the future,” he tells Indiewire. “Anybody going to see this movie who has no idea of the backstory to the production will have no idea this was shot on the phone. That’s not part of the conceit.”

Now that Steven Soderbergh has returned to moviemaking after a four-year hiatus, it seems that the celebrated director isn’t going to be slowing down. Less than a year after the theatrical release of “Logan Lucky,” Soderbergh returns to theaters with “The Crown” breakout Claire Foy for “Unsane.”

Steven Soderbergh just won't stay retired, as the director has what's described as a "reality-horror" film on the way with his film Unsane. The film stars star of The Crown, Claire Foy, who can be seen in these first two images from the film below (via Slashfilm):

The film, which is described as a film similar to Get Out,  also stars Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, and Amy Irving. The entire film was shot on an iPhone, and is set to debut at the Berlin International Film Festival next month. As for a more widespread release, folks can expect to see Unsane more widely available March 23, 2018.

Five more films have joined the main lieups of the 2018 Berlin International Film Festival (Feb 15 - 25). A further six films have been selected for the programme of the Berlinale Special.

Steven Soderbergh’s Unsane will get an out of competition world premiere. It stars Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Jay Pharoah and Juno Temple and was reportedly shot on iPhone.

Also premiering out of competition is José Padilha’s true story thriller 7 Days In Entebbe, starring Rosamund Pike, Daniel Brühl and Eddie Marsan.

New films from Lav Diaz and Alonso Ruizpalacios will play in competition.

Rupert Everett’s Oscar Wilde biopic The Happy Prince and Becoming Astrid by Pernille Fischer Christensen have been added to the Berlinale Special Gala section.

Modern technology and secret shoots drive Steven Sodenbergh’s first foray into horror with upcoming thriller Unsane.

Steven Soderbergh loves his new iPhone so much he shot a whole movie on it. The director of Traffic, Erin Brockovich, Ocean’s Eleven and Side Effects will self-distribute his first horror movie Unsane through his Fingerprint Releasing via Bleecker Street, the same team that brought his crime drama Logan Lucky to cinemas earlier this year. The screenplay was witten by Jonathan Bernstein and James Greer.

Unsane tells the story of a young woman who “is involuntarily committed to a mental institution where she is confronted by her greatest fear — but is it real or is it a product of her delusion?”

Unsane stars Claire Foy, Joshua Leonard, Juno Temple, Aimee Mullins, Amy Irving, and Jay Pharoah, who described the film as a "reality-horror type" of movie, similar to Jordan Peele’s Get Out.

In the age of modern technology, many people have the resources to pick up a camera and go shoot a movie, but with his new movie Unsane, Steven Soderbergh is going to prove that many of us are already walking around with our own moviemaking device.

EW reports that a March 23rd release date has been announced for Soderbergh's new film Unsane, which was reportedly filmed entirely with an iPhone. Steven Soderbergh is nearly ready to unveil his next movie.

The director's next project, Unsane, will be released on March 23. He will self-distribute the film through his Fingerprint Releasing via Bleecker Street — the same strategy he used for his ensemble crime title Logan Lucky earlier this year.

Unsane will open opposite the wide releases of Paramount’s animated sequel Sherlock Gnomes, Johnny Knoxville comedy Action Point and the Legendary/Universal sequel Pacific Rim Uprising. Fox Searchlight’s Wes Anderson film Isle of Dogs is also debuting in a limited release.

On May 1, 2016, the Homeland star tied the knot with Mullins — an actress and model who is a double amputee and former champion sprinter — in a surprise ceremony.

Director Emily Carmichael has created a fantastic sci-fi comedy short that you’ve gotta check out! It’s called "Stryka," and it centers around the life of a strong reptile-like alien character from another world, her partner, and their life in crime. The story is set in a futuristic Brooklyn, New York and this is the synopsis:

Stryka is an awesome reptile woman from another planet who does heists and odd jobs with her (literal) partner in crime, Callen. But she has a secret–she’s been stealing with somebody else. (She just wants a partner who cleans up well enough to pull off a fancy jewel heist once and a while–is that so wrong?) Anxious about her career in thievery and torn by her loyalty to competing thieves, Stryka has to figure out where she belongs. Luckily, she has a highly advanced robot therapist to talk it over with.

Emily Carmichael is back with a new sci-fi short film titled, “Stryka.” Starring Aimee Mullins and Rupert Friend, the comedy is set in futuristic Brooklyn and takes a look at the inner life of a reptile alien thief.

The film starts with Stryka (Mullins) in a therapy session, talking about her partner Callen (Friend) and how she is searching for more opportunities. She expresses that she’s been stealing and working with another thief and is too scared to tell him. As she starts planning a new scheme with her new partner in crime Peterson (John Behlmann), she finds herself torn between the two guys since they both want to execute their plans at the same time.
