Biography

    • "David Hallows was born in Gravesend Kent on May 3rd, 1949 to aristocratic Dorothea Hamilton and Kenneth Hallows a WW2 Royal Navy officer. He had a Victorian type upper-class upbringing and was taught to have manners fit to sit at the Queen's table. Hallows is descended from the Scottish royalty Robert the Bruce and James II.

Hallows studied Zoology at the University College of North Wales Bangor in 1968-1971, concluding this study with First Class Honours. He went on to study for a D.Phil at Christ Church Oxford University 1971-72. After his degree Hallows ran a successful fishing bait business which he eventually sacrificed for his acting career.

Hallows pursued his acting qualifications with Pamela Blunden and Anthony Carrick who have shaped him into the incredible artist he is now. Since then Hallows has taken classes with the Actors Centre on character voice development, acting for screen, screenplay structure and storytelling. He is now with The Actors Base for online and zoom tuition sessions, honing his craft, also studying 'Different Every Night' the actor's bible from famous director Mike Alfreds.

Hallows has been gaining recognition among independent film makers with his captivating looks and unique acting skills for quite some time now. His enthusiasm and commitment make him a rewarding actor to work with for roles such as an English gentleman of higher class, father, grandfather and professional figure. His expert ability with accents however adds versatility to enable him to occupy many brand statuses. Hallows started his acting career when he answered a casting call from BBC radio Suffolk at the University of Suffolk Digital Film Production. For his casting, he did a 5-minute improvisation of Great War Australian hero 'Walt' McKenzie VC, that he intricately constructed. Inspired by the 'Admiral' father of a disastrous romantic relationship he once had in 1985, Hallows performance impressed a casting director so much that he was immediately invited to perform in 'Arthur' (2020) his first debut film. His starring role in the English film 'The Patcher' (2019) as Murray Goldfleck received widespread recognition and critical acclaim. Hallows has also starred in 'Grey Matter'(2020 )with actress Stephanie Beacham of 'Dynasty' fame.

Hallows has been applauded as an actor who has true self-awareness and the capability to criticise oneself to be able to fully embody his characters on screen. This popularity has gained him roles not just in London but nationwide."
