Alabama have been celebrating 50 years together as a band with a tour announced back in 2018. While the pandemic scuttled the 2020 leg of the trek, the “Mountain Music” hitmakers will return to the road next month. The country group of Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry, and Jeff Cook announced a new string of dates on Monday.
Beginning next month with a pair of shows on July 2nd and 3rd in Nashville, the tour will visit states like Pennsylvania, Nevada, and Texas and run into 2022. Martina McBride is set to open the Nashville dates,...

Three of country music’s most popular male artists will headline the 2021 Faster Horses Festival. Luke Combs, Jason Aldean, and Thomas Rhett will each close out a night of the three-day Brooklyn, Michigan, country gathering.
Set for July 16th through 18th, Faster Horses 2021 is essentially the 2020 edition, at least in terms of headliners — Combs, Aldean, and Rhett were all slated to anchor last year’s fest, which, like so many other live events, was derailed by the pandemic.
The Faster Horses 2021 undercard is a mix of up-and-comers and veterans. Gabby Barrett,...

“So the house lights will be up. I’ll take a look around, maybe raise up the ‘Cheers!’” Dierks Bentley says, taking a break from strumming his acoustic guitar to lift a can of peach-pear Lacroix to eye level and predict how a live audience might react after a year without concerts. “They may look at us like we’re idiots.”
Turning to his band, he adds, “Y’all ready?”

A little boy once said “I see dead people”. In The Voices we have a little girl who can hear dead people. For better or for worse, this film is very much in the M. Night vein.
The Voices kicks off with two ladies restrained in a Saw-esque torture-basement before moving back in time to a little girl, seemingly receiving therapy from a young lady wearing sunglasses (while indoors). I am not a therapist, but I would imagine hiding your eyes from your patient is probably the last thing you would want to do. Having said all that, it turns out our therapist is blind, so that told me. We then have a rather confusing flashback after a flashback.

When David Ball’s single “Thinkin’ Problem” hit country radio in the spring of 1994, it played alongside tunes by neo-traditionalists Tracy Lawrence, Mark Chesnutt, and Alan Jackson. Yet even then it seemed like an anomaly.
With Ball’s a cappella delivery of the opening line, “Yes, I admit I got a thinkin’ problem,” sung with the hard-edged twang of a Buck Owens-George Strait hybrid, the song, written by Ball with Allen Shamblin and Stuart Ziff, was the first taste of mainstream country success for the Spartanburg, South Carolina,...

“I think I oughta say something about that song now,” Don Williams would tell concertgoers between the tunes he’d play while seated on a stool, guitar in hand. “I’ll think of something and say it later.” The joke being that country’s “Gentle Giant” would rarely get around to saying much, preferring instead to let the lyrics, and his warm, blanketing baritone do the talking, with his onstage motion mostly limited to moving effortlessly from one familiar hit to the next. Williams, who died in 2017 at 78, will be...
