21st March 2020. Many of us reading that date will be reminded of the moment, two years ago, when lockdowns started happening everywhere around the world, and this is the setting for Sameer Sharma’s charming short film, Master Ji. Tyagi sir, a biology teacher close to retirement, arrives home, his nose and mouth covered by a handkerchief. He quickly washes his hands, and tells his wife that it’s no longer safe to be outside. Over dinner, as his family talks about an outing, he insists that no one will go anywhere. The next day is the beginning of a lockdown. As in many places, education moves online, and Master Ji will have to learn how to cope with the very different challenges online learning places on both students and teacher.

The National Media Museum and Bradford, Unesco City of Film celebrated the centenary of Indian cinema on May 3rd by welcoming Bollywood superstar Jackie Shroff.

Shroff, star of more than 150 films, marked 100 years since the first public screening of the first Indian feature film Raja Harishchandra on May 3, 1913, with a VIP visit to the city organised in association with Asian Express Newspaper.

During his visit, part of Bradford’s 100 Years of Indian Cinema celebrations, Shroff was welcomed to the National Media Museum and its exhibition Bollywood Icons: 100 Years of Indian Cinema. He was interviewed by exhibition curator Irna Qureshi before chatting to Bradford College students about filmmaking. He also visited City Hall, meeting the Lord Mayor of Bradford.

He said: “I am delighted to be visiting Bradford, the world’s first Unesco City of Film, and the National Media Museum, to join their celebrations around 100 years of Indian cinema.”

April 5, 2010: It is rare to see four of Bollywood’s talented music composers come together to be a part of a film. But this was what Hanif Shaikh; the music composer of Eros International & Shaira Khan’s ‘Paathshaala’ did while creating the music for the Shahid Kapoor starrer.

With his beautiful compositions and touching lyrics, Hanif was successful in roping in some of the greatest talents such as Lucky Ali, Salim Merchant, Vishal Dadlani and Kailesh Kher to sing for the movie.

We have got not one but 2 new songs from the film Paathshaala! The film, which is set to release on April 16th, stars Ayesha Takia, Nana Patekar and Shahid Kapoor in an extended appearance. Milind Ukey is at the helm of the film with the excellent music composed by newcomer Hanif Shaikh.

There is nothing over the top and experimental in the soundtrack of choreographer Ahmed Khan’s first production venture ‘Paathshaala’, but still the music appeals and is worth a hear.

The album of this Shahid Kapoor starrer offers six originals and four remixes.

The soundtrack starts with ‘Aye khuda’, a soothing, breezy number crooned by Salim.

Eros International's latest offering is Paathshala a film starring Nana Patekar, Shahid Kapoor, and Ayesha Takia. It is directed by Milind Ukey, with music and lyrics by Hanif Shaikh. We preview the film with character sketches and a full synopsis of the movie.
