In recent years, the Grammy Awards have taken advantage of having so many top artists in one place by taping a second show a day or two after the main Grammy ceremony, all-star tributes to artists like Prince, Elton John, Stevie Wonder and others. With the Grammys just days away, the final preparations for performers and announcers are coming together: Among them, Variety has confirmed with sources that K-pop sensations Bts will be presenting an award at the show.

While Bts is up for one Grammy this year, it’s somewhat of a sidelong nomination: best recording package (i.e. artwork) for their “Love Yourself: Tear” album, for which they’re nominated alongside Seoul-based branding outfit HuskyFox. In that category, the group is up against St. Vincent’s “Masseduction,” Mitski’s “Be the Cowboy,” the Chairman’s “The Offering,” and Foxhole’s “Well Kept Thing.”

The Recording Academy today announced the next wave of artists to perform on this year’s 61st annual Grammy Awards: Multiple Grammy nominee Brandi Carlile and H.E.R. will both perform, as will past Grammy nominee Miley Cyrus, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers will join Post Malone (following the rapper’s performance with Aerosmith at the MTV Video Music Awards last year).

Tyler Perry will host a tribute special for Queen of Soul Aretha Franklin set to air later next year on CBS.

Aretha! A Grammy Celebration for the Queen of Soul hails from CBS, the Recording Academy, Aeg Ehrlich Ventures and Clive Davis. It will feature songs from Franklin’s legendary repertoire performed by Grammy winners olanda Adams, Shirley Caesar, Alessia Cara, Kelly Clarkson, Common, Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson, Alicia Keys, John Legend, Patti Labelle and BeBe Winans as well as current Grammy nominees Brandi Carlile, Chloe X Halle, H.E.R., Janelle Monáe, and Sza. Additional performances will be announced in the coming weeks.

The live concert will be taped Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019, at 6 Pm Pt at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. The special, hosted by Perry, will be broadcast later in 2019 on the CBS network.

As most fans will recall, earlier this year we lost one of the most important female voices in the history of music. Whitney Houston's untimely passing occurred just 48 hours before the Grammys were to take place, and a new behind-the-scenes documentary will show how the institution dealt with the tragedy.

The film will premiere on June 11 at the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences in North Hollywood with Dave Grohl, LL Cool J and Recording Academy president/CEO Neil Portnow scheduled to attend.
