Sony Pictures, Martin Lawrence, Unanimous Media’s Stephen Curry and Erick Peyton, and Brendan O’Brien are teaming on One and Done, a high concept comedy set in the world of women’s basketball. Sony is percolating the project as a star vehicle for Lawrence, who most recently starred for the studio in Bad Boys For Life.

Lauren Tyler is writing the script, based on an original idea by O’Brien, Kyle Pennekamp & Scott Turpel. Rae Proctor and Robert Lawrence are executive producing through Lawrence’s Runteldat Entertainment. Jiao Chen is overseeing the project for Sony Pictures.

For literally years now, I’d been looking forward to seeing Get a Job, the new (or newish, in this case now) film from Dylan Kidd. Last week, after an incredibly long delay/time spent sitting on the shelf, I finally saw the flick, which will be hitting theaters this Friday. I’m thrilled to report that it’s good stuff too, fully underserving of the fate it had been stuck with up until now. Get a Job hits on March 25th, and Lionsgate has released some new images. They don’t exactly offer a lot of surprises that the trailer (see below) hid, but we do get a nice group selfie shot… and learn that Miles Teller‘s character works in some manner of booth.

The premise of the film is, eventually, an interesting one, but you have to guess that the film doesn’t take as long to get there as the trailer suggests.

While the post-graduation angst film isn’t entirely new, and is in fact possibly overworked as practically a mantra of the new generation, the role reversal angle and relationship focal point should make this one interesting. It certainly has a cast that you expect good things from. Well, some of the cast anyway.

THR recently reported that director Dylan Kidd (Roger Dodger) will be helming the comedy Get A Job (title subject to change). The film will have a pretty decent comedic cast including Bryan Cranston, Anna Kendrick, Miles Teller, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Allison Brie, Jay Pharoah, and Brandon T. Jackson.

Here is the synopsis of the film:

A multi-generational comedy about four recent college graduates, written by Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel, the project will see Teller playing a young man struggling in an entry-level job, while Kendrick plays his type-a girlfriend. The concept is nothing that we haven’t heard before. However, the cast is really good so that might be all that it takes to get my butt into the theater. I guess we will have to wait till 2013 to find out.

According to Variety, the CBS Films project from "Roger Dodger" director Dylan Kidd has yet to be greenlit, but is either in talks with or attaching actors the likes of "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston and "50/50" darling Anna Kendrick.

The company snagged the Black List script by Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel in 2009, which "follows a college graduate and his friends who have to lower their expectations about life as they enter the real world during a recession." Writer-director Dylan Kidd made an impression with his 2002 debut movie Roger Dodger, but has been mostly absent since until co-writing and directing 2004's little-seen P.S. and, most recently, directing episodes of the Adult Swim series Children's Hospital. Now Kidd is looking to get back to directing movies with the comedy Get a Job for CBS Films.

Variety reports that Miles Teller (Project X) is in negotiations to star in the movie as a college graduate who, along with his friends, attempts to enter the working world during a recession. Offers have been made to Anna Kendrick (Up In the Air, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad) for unspecified roles, while Christopher Mintz-Plasse (Kick-Ass) and Jay Pharaoh (Saturday Night Live) could appear in the movie as well. Jesse Eisenberg, who co-starred in Kidd's Roger Dodger, would appear in a cameo.

No deals are yet in place and the project itself has yet to get a green light so no official production start date has been set. Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel wrote the original script.

Just a couple of weeks ago I finally caught up with Dylan Kidd‘s 2002 debut — the dark, funny, wonderful Roger Dodger. Having such a positive reaction to a wholly unique film, imagine my disappointment upon seeing that the guy’s only directed one other, seemingly forgettable project since.

So that’s why I’m happy to hear (from Variety) that Kidd will follow-up his last feature, 2004′s P.S., with CBS Films’ Get a Job. The comedy doesn’t sound as though it’s in the same morbid vein as his first movie; instead, the Kyle Pennekamp and Scott Turpel-written feature centers on “a college graduate and his friends who have to lower their expectations about life as they enter the real world during a recession.”

Casting is already underway for the film, with Project X‘s Miles Teller currently in talks, while Christopher Mintz-Plasse & SNL‘s Jay Pharaoh are also considering.

With the publication of the 2010 Black List another compilation of the year's best unproduced screenplays has arrived. To be nominated and included on The Black List a screenplay can't have been released in 2010. As well, the minimum number of votes that a screenplay needed to have to warrant inclusion on the list is five. The Black List started in 2005 when Franklin Leonard was working for Leonardo DiCaprio's Appian Way production company. Leonard was getting drowned in sub-par spec scripts, so he sent an e-mail out to his industry contacts looking for the best unproduced scripts out there. The 2005 Black List and the 2006 Black List were undeniably important in getting a fresh batch of writers on the Hollywood scene. Since then, too many people know about the party and the studio system has learned that people are paying attention. That means that increasingly, scripts have been lobbied into the Black List. [Note: I have no actual evidence I would be able to share, disclose or show you that proves this, so file that assertion under: "Things Dave thinks and gets to write because he's squatted on that soapbox long enough to get squatter's rights."]This year: the majority of the Black List Top Ten has already been sold or optioned. Back in 2004, a list was compiled of the best unproduced screenplays in Hollywood of that year. This came to be known as The Black List. It was all started by a young executive at Leonardo DiCaprio’s production company Appian Way, who polled 90+ peers to send him their 10 favorite, new, unproduced screenplays to read over the holidays. It has since become a tradition at the end of every year, in December, to release this list, which is voted on by a group of individuals in the entertainment industry from producer assistants, talent agency individuals, and many people involved with film development all the way up to VP's.

The 2010 Black List is here, and thanks to Deadline we have the list of best unproduced screenplays. Most of the scripts we've heard of, many of them are in production, some have already wrapped filming, they just wont be released until next year.

Shia Labeouf is attached to play Atwater and Paul Dano as Rove. Previous Black List leaders include 2008’s The Beaver, which became a long-delayed film directed by Jodie Foster and starring Mel Gibson, and 2009’s The Muppet Man, which remains on the shelf.

The annual list is compiled with a poll of 300 (up from last year's 250) development executives and high-level assistants, and contains a ranking of the hot screenplays making the rounds in Hollywoodland, which were written in, or are somehow uniquely associated with, 2010 and will not be released in theaters during this calendar year. Basically, the black list contains the hottest projects in Hollywood that you haven't heard of yet. Note: The headline is a slightly inaccurate, because a lot of these screenplays have already been acquired (six of the top ten listed), a bunch are in production now, and some have even finished production. One of this year's top ten screenplays, J.C. Chandor's Margin Call, about the last 24 hours at now-defunct investment bank Lehman Brothers is already in the can and set to premiere at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival with Chandor at the helm...

Frank Leonard is the most popular man in Hollywood today. This fine December day marks the release of the 6th annual Black List, a ranked collection of the top un-produced screenplays in the town, compiled by Leonard. Last year the top script was The Muppet Man from Christopher Weekes about “the life and times of the late Jim Henson.” Coming in second was Aaron Sorkin‘s The Social Network script, which is a current frontrunner to sweep the Oscars. The year before was The Beaver, now starring Mel Gibson and set for a release in 2011.

The top one this year, College Republicans, has Shia Labeouf and Paul Dano attached.
