Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 8 Review: Mine Town
Image
Humanity continues ruling Patience, even if it’s overrun with aliens. Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 8 reminded us that change is hard, family is complicated, and mantids are just the worst houseguests.

“Mine Town” is the kind of Resident Alien episode that crams in emotional gut punches, sci-fi reveals, and turkey legs the size of your head — while still making time for AA meetings, cocoon body horror, and Harry singing in a lake like an unholy Disney princess. I mean that with love.

Let’s get into it.

(James Dittiger/USA Network) Harry’s Just Out Here Vibing With His Powers and Oversharing Again

It’s delightful watching Harry fully enjoy having his alien powers back. He’s flying through the water like a delightful dolphin, cackling like a maniac, and threatening to blackmail Ben with details of his sex dreams.

This is Harry in his element — and his element is chaos.

Alan Tudyk’s 98%-Rated Sci-Fi Hit Suffers the Same Premature Fate as Strange New Worlds
Image
Resident Alien is ending with Season 4, despite rocking a 98% on Rotten Tomatoes. That’s not a typo – it’s one of the best-reviewed sci-fi shows on TV. So, for longtime fans who’ve stuck with Harry’s chaotic alien journey, this news lands like a punch to the gut. And the sting gets worse. Just recently, Star Trek: Strange New Worlds was also given an end date – Season 5 will be its last. Two wildly popular, critically loved genre shows… both out the door.

Naturally, fans are asking the same question: why? These aren’t flops. They’re not running out of steam. But here’s the thing – when it comes to cancellations, ratings aren’t the full story. The real reasons? They’re tangled in budgets, streaming shifts, licensing deals, and networks quietly rethinking what “success” even means now.

Today Is a Very Sad Day for Black Clover Anime Fans
Image
For fans of Black Clover, today brings unexpectedly somber news. The Japanese rock band Kankaku Pierrot, best known to anime fans as the creators of the iconic first and sixth opening themes for the series, have announced they will disband later this year. Their emotional sound helped define Black Clover’s early identity, making this loss all the more painful.

The group revealed that they will officially part ways following their final one-man tour in October 2025, according to @sectionya on X, which consists of just four performances. With this announcement, fans are not only saying goodbye to a beloved band but also mourning what could have been, especially as the anime inches closer to adapting the intense Spade Kingdom arc.

The cancellation of Resident Alien—the critically acclaimed sci-fi dramedy starring Alan Tudyk—has left fans with many questions. Did the cult-favorite show find new life for a fifth season, or is the journey of Harry Vanderspeigle truly over? Here is everything we know about the fate of the series, what happened in Season 4, the ending, and what could have been.

Will There Be a Resident Alien Season 5?

Officially, Resident Alien will not return for Season 5. NBCUniversal has decided to end the series with its current fourth season, airing on USA Network, with the finale set for August 8, 2025. Despite dedicated fans and strong reviews, Resident Alien has been cancelled.

Series creator Chris Sheridan confirmed he was aware Season 4 was likely to be the end, allowing him to craft a satisfying finale. Sheridan shared, “I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season. Creatively, that...

Syfy’s Beloved Show with 98% Rotten Tomatoes Rating Canceled After Four Seasons
Image
Sci-fi comedy series Resident Alien has been canceled after four seasons. The announcement came on a Thursday night, just before the show’s finale, which was scheduled to air on August 8.

The series stars Alan Tudyk as Harry, an alien who crash-lands on Earth and tries to fit in with humans in a small Colorado town.

Resident Alien started on Syfy but moved to the USA Network for its fourth season in an attempt to reach more viewers.

The show also gained new fans when the first three seasons became available on Netflix last summer, giving it a boost in viewership. In an interview with TV Insider, Chris Sheridan, the show’s creator and showrunner, said he “knew going into [season four] that this was likely going to be our final season.”

He added, “Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending.

‘Resident Alien’ Canceled After 4 Seasons
Image
There will be no last-minute reprieve for Resident Alien this time as the sci-fi comedy-drama starring Alan Tudyk will be ending its run with the current fourth season, Deadline has confirmed. The upcoming Season 4 finale on August 8 will serve as a series finale.

Resident Alien came close to cancellation after Season 3. It ultimately clinched a renewal with a budget reduction and a move from its original home, Syfy, to sister NBCUniversal cable network USA. (Season 4 ultimately simulcast on both channels.)

Despite a boost in awareness from previous seasons’ exposure on Netflix, the new episodes of Resident Alien have been a modest ratings performer amid declining overall cable viewership and haven’t gotten much traction on NBCU streamer Peacock.

Resident Alien creator, executive producer and showrunner Chris Sheridan, who based the series on the Dark Horse comics, had seen the writing on the wall and did not expect a second miracle renewal.

Crunchyroll Reveals the Top 10 Best Anime to Watch After One Piece

Anyone awaiting new One Pieceanime episodes or manga chapters can find some excellent and similar anime to fill the time.

Fans of One Piece have probably familiarized themselves with most of the other major shonen action titles by now, such as the rest of the shonen "big three" and recent hits like My Hero Academia, but sometimes, anime has common ground in ways no one might expect. That's because One Piece, as Crunchyroll's recommendation list makes clear, is about more than fighting. It's also about the spirit of friendship, adventures to exotic lands, and believing in oneself no matter what.

‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Episode 7 Review: Harry’s Emotional Climax Was Fire But Side Stories Just Sputtered
Image
The seventh episode of Resident Alien Season 4, titled Whatever Happened, delivers a peculiar mix of pathos, comedy, existential angst, and cosmic chess. Yes, all neatly parcelled in an episode that both pushes the plot forward and still feels like it’s meandering in molasses. Alan Tudyk’s Harry finally gets his alien mojo back, but only after an extremely emotional standoff with his father that ends in intergalactic patricide.

Mike finally figures out who the Mantid is, Asta gets existential (again), D’Arcy’s secret might just bubble to the surface, and the Hawthorns are scrambling to find a name for their inexplicably returned baby. There’s plenty happening, yet there’s a nagging feeling that the oomph from last week’s stellar episode fizzled faster than an undercooked Pop-Tart.

So what’s really going on? Who’s lying? Who’s alien? Who’s just bad at parenting?

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 7 Review: Daddy Issues
Image
Sometimes, the people who break you are the ones who made you. And sometimes, you survive them anyway.

If Resident Alien has taught us anything, it’s that no one gets through life — or the galaxy — without a few bruises from the people who raised them.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 7 is all about the damage done by family and the long road to self-worth, with plenty of humor along the way.

(USA Network/Screenshot) D’arcy Fights for the Truth (and Her Sobriety)

Let’s talk about D’arcy. My girl is standing in the street alone while everyone else waltzes around with partners, and that’s basically the mood of the episode.

She’s sober now. She thought about ending her life and decided not to, and went to AA instead. That’s massive, but it’s not as easy as deciding to stop drinking. There’s a lot more...

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Resident Alien season 4 episode 7.

It really does feel like this season is going to be the last. Dan returns with advice to Asta to leave town, and he’s not the only one with that advice. Are we seeing characters realize that it’s time to move on from the small-town life of Patience?

Well, for Harry, he continues to learn more about being human. And for Mike, he is delving deeper and deeper into the world of aliens, as Kate and Ben figure out what to tell people about their daughter suddenly turning up.

Resident Alien season 4 episode 6 recap: D'Arcy reaches her breaking point

Much of Resident Alien season 4 episode 6 is focused on D’Arcy. However, there is a chance to see how Harry learns a little more about himself and the world that he’s in.

‘Resident Alien’ Season 4, Episode 6 Review: Harry’s an Alien and Still Has Better Emotional Growth Than Me
Image
Sometimes a show hits you with jokes so smart, so ridiculous, and so razor-blade sharp that you snort-laugh before you realize you’re crying. That’s exactly what Resident Alien did in Season 4, Episode 6, titled Soul Providers.

So what’s really going on here? Alan Tudyk’s Harry is arrested by a cosmic tribunal for crimes he didn’t commit, the town’s adults officially go all-in on the alien conspiracy, and D’Arcy questions whether she’s even real. Meanwhile, the Grays are stealing baby souls to make skincare. Yes, baby souls. And yes, this is still technically a comedy.

In short: Who? Harry, D’Arcy, the Grays, and the entire town of Patience. What? Soul-snatching aliens, a personal reckoning, and an emotional metamorphosis. When? Now, when all pretenses are stripped away. Where? A café, a tribal powwow, an alien tribunal, and the heart of human vulnerability. Why? Because someone finally had to say it,...

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 6 Review: Soul Providers
Image
There’s something so magical about a show that can swing from alien wrinkle cream made from stolen baby souls to a broken woman asking if she should even exist, and make both hit you right in the feels.

“Soul Providers” isn’t just a turning point for Harry.

It’s a reckoning for almost everyone. And I have to admit, this one got to me. Deeply.

(James Dittiger/USA Network) The Truth About the Grays (and the Soul Trade)

We finally get the full scope of the Grays’ horrifying plans: they harvest human souls — pure, untouched infant souls — for anti-aging serum and dipping sauce.

Only Harry could have heard that admission and responded with, “Have you not heard of ranch?!” That’s peak Resident Alien.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 5 Review: The Human Condition
Image
I’m not saying this show understands me better than most humans, but it’s getting close.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 5, titled “The Human Condition,” reaches deep into the gooey center of what it means to be a person, complete with social awkwardness, loneliness, dog rejections, and one very awkward adoption proposal.

At this point, I don’t know whether I feel more like Harry, D’arcy, or Asta. But I’m definitely crying in my coffee either way.

(James Dittiger/USA Network) Harry’s Aloneliness and the Awkward Search for Belonging

Harry is trying. Really, he is. He starts the episode jogging with headphones, plastering up inspirational signs like “Life is Good” and hashtagging his existence like a pro. Hashtag lake. Hashtag blessed.

And yet… he still feels empty.

Poor Harry is struggling with loneliness throughout Resident Alien season 4 episode 5. Meanwhile, Asta is realizing that she may have bitten off more than she can chew.

Black Clover Anime Revival Hinted After 5 Years ( Photo Credit – Facebook )

Black Clover wrapped up its original anime run in 2021, just as things were starting to build toward something bigger. Asta’s growth was far from over, and the anime didn’t even touch the manga’s final war arc, leaving viewers with half the story and all the anticipation.

For years, nothing concrete followed as there was just silence while Studio Pierrot focused on other major projects like Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War.

Black Clover Season Return Rumors Spark Hope Among Fans

Now, five years later, signs of life have finally emerged. A recent tease from Jump Giga magazine suggests that Black Clover might finally be returning. The publisher hasn’t made anything official, and Studio Pierrot hasn’t stepped forward either. Still, the rumor alone has stirred up excitement. The fanbase hasn’t let go of this series, and the buzz is getting louder again.

Resident Alien, the quirky sci-fi dramedy led by genre chameleon Alan Tudyk, has officially dethroned NBC’s Chicago Fire to take the No. 7 spot on Peacock’s Top 10 TV shows. Not only has the SyFy/USA crossover hit surged in popularity following its Season 4 premiere on June 6, but it's now poised to knock Chicago P.D. out of the No. 6 position, continuing what might be a full-on extraterrestrial takeover of the streamer’s algorithm.

Powered by a nearly spotless 98% critics' score on Rotten Tomatoes, Resident Alien has proven it’s far more than a niche sci-fi sideshow. With its biting humor, the series has grown from fan-favorite to legitimate streaming contender, and Tudyk is, unsurprisingly, at the center of it all. With a resume reading like a Comic-Con greatest hits list, Tudyk brings his signature...

‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Ending Explained & Finale Recap: Will Harry Wage War Against The Greys?
Image
In Resident Alien season 4’s ending, Harry had been struggling with the dilemma of whether he should tell Heather the truth or not. The Greys had stolen Harry’s alien energy, because of which he was no longer attracted to Heather’s alien form. Actually, he felt disgusted and couldn’t stand the odor coming out of her alien body. But he didn’t want to break Heather’s heart, which was why he decided to hide his true feelings until his best friend, Asta, convinced him that relationships are all about being honest with your partner and he wouldn’t be able to lie to Heather forever. So, in the end, Harry gathered enough courage to tell Heather that he was no longer an alien and therefore might not be able to see her the same way he saw her before. He didn’t want her to spend the...

Resident Alien season 4 episode 4 recap: There's a wedding happening (or is there?)
Image
While Resident Alien season 4 episode 4 starts in the past with D’Arcy and Ben almost getting together, we spend the rest of the episode in the present day. It looks like a wedding is about to happen!

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Resident Alien season 4 episode 4.

At the end of Resident Alien season 4 episode 3, Heather returned with a surprise for Harry. They’ve had children, and Harry would have been happy about this if he was still an alien. However, now that he’s human, he finds Heather’s alien form repulsive.

Is there any hope for them? Well, maybe, if Heather is happy being in her human form all the time.

I Love ‘Black Clover’ But Even I Know Its Not the Best Anime Out There
Image
I love Black Clover as much as the next fan, but calling it one of the best anime out there is too much of a stretch. I might love the series, but it hasn’t made me go blind. The series is the perfect Shonen stressbuster, but not anything revolutionary.

Black Clover is the amalgamation of everything Shonen. An underdog and outcast of a protagonist, the emphasis on camaraderie, the never-give-up attitude, and the stereotypical villains, Black Clover has it all. It is a series that embodies both the good and the bad of Shonen anime.

I Can’t Deny Black Clover‘s Shortcomings

When strictly speaking about the anime, Black Clover has plenty of issues. The early episodes of the anime had inconsistent animation and poor visual quality. This was mainly due to the understaffed animation team and Studio Pierrot mostly dumping the series’ responsibility on its director. The...

Black Clover’s Most Controversial Episode was Secretly a Masterpiece
Image
Black Clover has been straddled with one controversial episode after another. But the uproar against it probably reached its peak when episode 63 of the anime aired. What was meant to be a fun and experimental approach was bogged down by criticism.

Tatsuya Yoshihara, the director of the anime, had struggled with an understaffed team and a lack of resources ever since Black Clover‘s pre-production began. Yet, as a creator, he longed for something breakthrough despite the handicaps. Thus emerged episode 63, a crafty approach to create a good episode without any proper backing.

A Black Clover Episode Sacrificed Cohesiveness for Experimentation

Tatsuya Yoshihara had been battling with Studio Pierrot’s lack of care about Black Clover for years before episode 63 of the anime debuted. Ever since it began, the anime has been full of inconsistencies and low animation quality. As the director, Yoshihara bore the brunt of the backlash. At the same time,...

Why Was Tatsuya Yoshihara Called the Second Protagonist of ‘Black Clover?’
Image
Black Clover fans might know Tatsuya Yoshihara as the director of the anime, but not many know about the struggles he faced in the position. His rise to fame with Black Clover came with a heavy cost, and his dedication to the work is why he is a central figure behind the anime, one who can even rival the influence of Asta.

The early episodes of Black Clover faced plenty of criticism due to their low-quality animation. Yet, fans need to understand that Yoshihara was not at fault; in fact, it was Studio Pierrot who had set the anime up for failure.

Masashi Kishimoto Needs to Take Notes From ‘Black Clover’ for Its Most Well-Written Character
Image
Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto might be one of the Big Three of the Shonen world, but at the same time, it has massive flaws when it comes to getting female characters right. In contrast, Black Clover, a series that has been called a ‘Naruto‘ copy time and again, has some phenomenal female characters.

Noelle is one of the most notable female characters of Black Clover who has gone through plenty of development and then some more. Noelle’s character when she first debuted is vastly different from the one that fans are currently familiar with.

Masashi Kishimoto needs to take notes from Black Clover Noelle is a better-developed character than most women in Naruto | Credits: Pierrot

Most of the female characters in Naruto are underdeveloped, and their potential is almost wasted. Since Naruto targets the Shonen demographic, it’s easy to see how the male characters get the most important roles.

‘Resident Alien’ Season 4 Episodes 1-3 Recap: Is Mantid Dead?
Image
The fourth season of Syfy’s Resident Alien picked up from where the previous season ended. In the season 3 finale, Harry Vanderspeigle and his friend, Asta Twelvetrees, portaled themselves to the Greys’ space station on the moon with the objective of saving their friend, D’Arcy Bloom, and blow up the Greys’ stronghold with the bomb D’Arcy had stolen from Harry. However, when the duo found D’Arcy, she told them the Greys had taken the bomb and hidden it somewhere on the station, so they had no option but to escape. This was when Robert came to their aid and told them the alarm had disengaged the portals up there and they’d need to steal a spaceship to return to Earth. In the midst of such chaos, the shapeshifting Mantid tricked Harry and locked him in his cell and took his form to travel to Earth with D’Arcy,...

The Point of ‘Black Clover’ Is to Make Asta a Simpler Character
Image
Black Clover is often stepped on by fans who call it too simple. Yet, many fail to realize that its simplicity is its boon, which also extends to its protagonist, Asta. This short king wasn’t born with any indicators of greatness, but paved his own way through all the insults thrown at him.

Asta might be the typical energetic, clingy, and loud Shonen protagonist, but he is also a simple guy who has one goal that he will tirelessly work towards. No matter how many obstacles are thrown at him, he manages to overcome them like a true Shonen protagonist, minus the chosen one narrative.

Black Clover stands out because of Asta’s simplicity Black Clover focuses on Asta’s simplicity | Credits: Pierrot

Plenty of popular Shonen anime and manga use the underdog trope for their protagonists. But on closer observation, it is revealed that these characters weren’t actually underdogs.

Resident Alien season 4 episode 3 recap: Harry has to make a choice
Image
Harry and D’Arcy head on a journey to the past in Resident Alien season 4 episode 3. Meanwhile, Kate starts to remember things about the moon ship, and Asta can’t hold the secret about the baby in any more.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Resident Alien season 4 episode 3.

The episode of Resident Alien starts with a look at Asta’s past. Her aunt tells her a story of beings from space looking down on them. It isn’t that surprising then that during the episode, Asta’s aunt is open to the idea of aliens. She doesn’t even question Asta’s explanation when she realizes that Kate Hawthorne is the baby’s mom.

In fact, she immediately believes that Harry is the alien. Out of everyone in town, it just makes sense that he’s the alien! At least she is still happy to protect the baby with this explanation,...

2025 is going to be a big year for the manga industry because of many new projects finally getting a release. These new projects will most likely shape the new era of the manga world, but there are also quite a few stories that will see their conclusion this year. In fact, some of them have already reached their end, bringing a close to their journey.

Black Clover’s Flaws Are Exactly Why I’d Pick It Over ‘Bleach’ or ‘Naruto’
Image
Black Clover is almost always dunked on by fans of Bleach, Naruto, My Hero Academia, or other popular anime. Sure, Black Clover isn’t ‘perfect’, but in reality, no anime is perfect. There are always flaws that can be pointed out or chinks in the story that can be made better, and even unexplained plot holes.

So why is it that while Black Clover gets immense hate for its flaws, other series get praised regardless of them? Black Clover has the same tropes as any typical Shonen and the same issues that plague them. But despite them all, I can’t help loving the series.

Alan Tudyk Heads Back to the '70s in 'Resident Alien' Season 4, Episode 3 Promo
Image
Few series airing today are as underrated as Alan Tudyk's sci-fi dramedy, Resident Alien. A tale of identity and morality wrapped up in a cozy sci-fi story about an alien's mission to wipe out all human life, Resident Alien has found itself a relatively small but impressively dedicated fan base across its four seasons to date. Earlier this month, the show returned for its fourth season following a break of just over a year, following the aftermath of the Mantid's arrival and Harry's attempt to flee the Grey's Moon base in late Season 3.

In the most recent second episode, "The Lonely Man," Harry and Asta (Sara Tomko), "work together to try and get something Harry desperately needs." Receiving an 8.4/10 on IMDb, the episode has already proven the show hasn't missed a beat since its return. But now, with Episode 3 on the horizon, the heat is about to be turned up,...

“Asta grows on the X-axis… Noelle grows on the Z-axis”: Black Clover’s Biggest Error Is How the Time-Skip Mistreated Noelle
Image
There is a six-month timeskip in Black Clover after the training in the Heart Kingdom. Not only does it mark the beginning of the Spade Kingdom arc, but it is also during this time that the characters like Asta, Yuno, Noelle, and others prepare themselves for their next bout.

During this time, the characters grow older and more mature and powerful. When they return, fans can notice a noticeable upgrade in their physical features as well as outfits. But while some characters have benefited from this change, Noelle might have been a bit mistreated.

Black Clover did not do justice to post-timeskip Noelle Asta and Noelle’s designs were treated differently after the timeskip | Credits: Pierrot

Before the timeskip, Asta had a short and lean look with an average build. But after the timeskip, he gained much more muscle mass and looked quite bulky. His tight-fitting outfits accentuated his bulging muscles even more.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2 Review: The Lonely Man
Image
There are times when Resident Alien is an alien comedy, and there are times when it’s a full-blown existential drama hidden inside a body-snatching farce.

Resident Alien Season 4 Episode 2 is both.

It is about betrayal, loss, what it means to be human, and what it costs to try. And somehow, poor, weird alien hybrid Joseph takes the biggest brunt of it all.

(USA Network/Screenshot) We’re All Lying to Ourselves

The episode opens with a flashback to a young General McCallister in the 1970s, watching something fall from an alien ship onto the beach.

We’ll come back to that later. More urgently, Harry’s voiceover kicks things off with a bang: humans, he says, are flawed because they lie to themselves.

Of course, Harry insists he doesn’t have that flaw, which is the biggest lie of all.

Resident Alien season 4 episode 2 recap: Harry learns what may have happened to him
Image
At the end of the Resident Alien season 4 premiere, Harry learned that he can’t use his alien abilities. Well, it turns out that it’s much worse than that in Resident Alien season 4 episode 2.

Caution: This post contains Spoilers for Resident Alien season 4 episode 2.

Harry is going to learn to be someone very different for a while, as now that he’s human, everything about him has changed. He no longer likes the taste of milk, and he is extremely ticklish. He also gets scared of everything, which isn’t surprising considering the Mantid alien is threatening to kill him.

Speaking of the Mantid, he’s decided that it’s time to take on another form. He’s also hungry, and some poor guy at the motel doesn’t last very long!

At first, Harry turns to Joseph for some help,...
