Tom Felton finally lands a leading role in sci-fi movie Altered, a perfect opportunity to showcase his talent beyond Harry Potter. Felton's strong performance as Draco Malfoy in Harry Potter set him apart as one of the strongest child actors in the series. Altered's success could pave the way for Felton to secure more leading roles in the future, depending on audience reception and distribution.
The 2025 science fiction movie Altered will feature a beloved Harry Potter actor in the lead, and it's about time. Many of the stars from the hit fantasy movie series have gone on to play prominent roles in movies and TV shows, while others have either stayed out of the spotlight or occupied supporting roles. In all, it's been wonderful to see the young cast of Harry Potter grow their careers, but one of their most talented has yet to get the attention he deserves. Thankfully,...

Tom Felton will star in the action sci-fi film Altered, which is about genetic disparity in an alternate present. Altered will be directed by Timo Vuorensola and could potentially establish Felton as a successful leading man. Altered will play at the Cannes Film Festival and is expected to be released in 2025.
Harry Potter actor Tom Felton will star in the upcoming $15 million action sci-fi movie Altered. Felton rose to global prominence when he played the role of Harry Potter's nemesis, Draco Malfoy, in the hit movie adaptations of J. K. Rowling's beloved fantasy novels. Surrey-born Felton played the role in all eight Potter movies between 2001 and 2011, and has enjoyed consistent work in film and TV since leaving the franchise, most recently starring in Joel David Moore's 2023 psychological thriller Some Other Woman.
According to Variety, Felton is set to star in Altered, described as an action sci-fi movie that will explore important themes.

Tom Felton, best-known for his role as Draco Malfoy in the “Harry Potter” franchise, is to star in the $15 million action/sci-fi film “Altered,” alongside Richard Brake, Igor Jijikine (“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull”), Aggy K. Adams (“The Witcher”) and Liza Bugulova.
The film is set in an alternate present, where most of the human population have undergone genetic enhancements. Two courageous outcasts, Leon (Felton) and Chloe (Bugulova), become embroiled in a battle for justice within a society fractured by genetic disparity and in the grip of corrupt politicians.
“Altered” is directed by Finnish filmmaker Timo Vuorensola, best-known for creating the “Iron Sky” franchise and who most recently directed “Jeepers Creepers: Reborn” and “97 Minutes,” starring Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Alec Baldwin.
Vuorensola said: “I wanted to create a film that’s both entertaining and allows room for eye-opening themes to flourish. Science fiction has always...

The Indiana Jones villains range from mildly menacing to diabolical, and each one is as memorable as the ancient artifact they're trying to get their hands on. Globe-trotting archaeologist Professor Indiana Jones (Harrison Ford) has faced being hunted by Nazis and survived violent cults, and even though he's occasionally found himself coming up against the spectral and the supernatural, it's always been the human antagonists that have given him the most trouble. Greed and avarice rather than knowledge and compassion drive them, whether they want fame and notoriety like René Belloq in Raiders of the Lost Ark or immortality like Walter Donovan in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
While most of Indy's rogue gallery has a desire for power, some of the villains he encounters just want to get paid for their services. The minor villains he faces may not have impressive motivations but neither do they have delusions of grandeur,...

“If it doesn’t suck, we don’t do it.” That’s one of the only memorable lines of dialogue from the latest of Gerard Butler’s impressively bland action vehicles, but at this point it might as well be the inscription on a plaque that’s mounted behind his agent’s desk. Between “London Has Fallen,” “Geostorm,” and “Den of Thieves” — all real movies, this critic is tragically able to confirm — it’s beginning to seem as if the rugged Scotsman is just waiting by Nicolas Cage’s mailbox and stealing all of the most boring scripts before he can read them. On the plus side, that would leave Cage no choice but to continue starring in wildly eccentric fare like “Mandy.” On the minus side, it might result in Butler hosting a lot more press conferences at the Pentagon, where — in keeping with current custom — the actor recently...

Chicago – Not to be confused with Todd Haynes’s 1995 masterpiece featuring Julianne Moore in the performance of her career, “Safe” is a forgettable would-be blockbuster that puts star Jason Statham through the emotional wringer in order to justify a marathon of repetitive carnage. This is as predictable a star vehicle as one could imagine, yet the direction by Boaz Yakin is so strong that it nearly saves the material.
A sense of palpable tension pervades all 92 minutes of this fast-paced thriller and doesn’t end after the final fade-out. It seems like everyone in New York is conspiring to take down the film’s two protagonists: a former detective (Statham) and a pint-sized Chinese prodigy (Catherine Chan) kidnapped by thugs intent on exploiting her extraordinary math skills. The first half-hour of the picture is so oppressively doom-laden that it leads the audience to cheer on the bloodletting once it finally arrives.

Regular Screen Rant reader Brian Kettler attended the 2008 Spike TV Scream awards and was kind enough to send us in a brief report. Here it is, in his own words:
The 2008 Spike TV Scream awards were held again this year at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles. For anyone unfamiliar with the Greek, it’s an open air venue situated in Griffith Park. The open air nature of the theater led to some really thrilling entertainment, along with a daring entrance by a special guest who looked sincerely scared that his entrance would end tragically.
The red carpet event was truly fun to attend. The show almost started late due to the guests taking their time talking to the press at the event and posing for pictures. Of course, being a general attendee and not a member of the press, not everyone stopped to talk to us. The Osborne’s looked great.
