Kristin Chenoweth has joined the cast of director Rob Cohen's The Boy Next Door , says a story today at The Hollywood Reporter . She'll star opposite the recently announced Jennifer Lopez in the Blumhouse Pictures production. The Boy Next Door stars Lopez as a recently-separated mother who finds trouble on the horizon when she begins a relationship with a teenage neighbor. A couple twists short of a good comedy; this film seems like more of a TV prime time test spin for the cast and crew than a fully developed film. The feature debut effort of director Benjamin Epps and screenwriter Matt K. Turner turns out to be a funny, lighthearted, but lightweight, comedy suitable for mature families. At this stage in her career, lead Olesya Rulin (playing 16 year old Emily) has not come much further than the prime time TV antics she was called upon to perform for this film. Sick of her father (Matthew Modine) and mother's neglect, the precocious jump-rope champion decides to put them under house arrest until they have learned to be more supportive.

Joey King, Eddie Hassell and Shirley Jones also feature in the Benjamin Epps-directed movie.

Know for her stage performances and recurring role in Glee, Chenoweth was most recently seen in Hit and Run.

Family Weekend is scheduled for a limited release in Us cinemas from March 29. A UK date is yet to be confirmed.
