Celebrating her brother Saqib Saleem’s 36th birthday on Monday, actress Huma Qureshi took to her Instagram stories to share a video where she is seen “annoying” the birthday boy.

In the Instagram story shared by Huma, the video features Saqib engaged in a serious conversation, sporting a “Happy Birthday Saqib” sticker on his shirt. Huma zooms in and out, capturing her brother amid his conversation. The actress captioned the video: “Annoying birthday boy @saqibsaleem.”

Saqib, who made his debut in the Hindi cinema with ‘Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge’ in 2011, was last seen on the big screen in the 2021 film ‘83’ alongside Ranveer Singh. Amit Sial has opened up on his character’s arc in the third season of the political drama series ‘Maharani’, saying it was not about getting the physical attributes right, but drawing out fresh details and new layers of his life right.

Talking about his character, Sial, who plays Navin Kumar (inspired by Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar), said: “When one is into the third season of any show, it is not so much about preparation for the character but more about where the life of the character leads to now.”

Archana Puran Singh left everyone in laughter after she continued to eat the entire box of ghevar (Rajasthani sweet) on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’. ‘Talvar’ actor Sohum Shah, who is currently seen in the web series ‘Maharani 2’ brought a box of sweets for the host and told him that his family would not have appreciated him going to some place empty-handed.

Shah is coming as a special guest along with Huma Qureshi, Amit Sial, Pramod Pathak, Dibyendu Bhattacharya, and Anuja Sathe. ‘Maharani 2’ actor Amit Sial revealed how megastar Amitabh Bachchan became his inspiration and recalled injuring himself while following his stunts.

Amit said: “They are still larger than life, only the presenting process is changed now. Once, I ended up breaking my leg because of Mr. Amitabh Bachchan.”

“I was inspired by him as he used to jump from the 25th floor and land perfectly. When I was around 7 or 8 years old, I tried it one day and jumped with my cousin and we broke our knees. I was like, ‘If Amitabhji can do it I can do it too’.”

If a genuine exploration of the Rabri Devi phenomenon in Bihar’s tangled politics is what you are looking for , then Maharani is not your poison. If, however, you are sold on a wildly implausible spin on Rabri Devi’s journey from Mrs Lalu Yadav to Chief Minister of Bihar, this web-series, done up in dollops of devilishly pickled dialogues and bursts of humour in a dark uniform, is strongly recommended.

Writer Subhash Kapoor seems very interested in powerful North Indian female politicians. His self-directed feature film Madame Cm was based on Mayawati’s ascension to the Up throne. In Maharani, which Kapoor has written, he dives into Rabri Devi’s bizarre political escapade and comes up with a twin-sister named Rani Bharti who goes through the same journey as Rabri Devi but via a different route.

"Maharani" tells a story that could seem bizarre in many parts of the world. In India, an illiterate wife of an indisposed chief minister being pushed into the hotseat of Bihar politics makes for slice-of-life realism.

For creator Subhash Kapoor, a scoop off the forever simmering cauldron that is Bihar politics would seem like an automatic advantage when it comes to setting up instant drama. The flip side becomes evident soon enough as the show unfolds. Ten episodes would seem inadequate to sum up the infinitely complex socio-politics of Bihar, where scam and scamster, crime and criminal seem to be thriving in every cranny of the system, coupled by the fact that the state's cast and class equations set up a maze that is nearly impossible to decode.

Kapoor and series director Karan Sharma have only scraped the surface of the maze, to set sketchy characters and plot situations.
