Eileen Davidson leads Daytime Emmy predictions for Best Drama Actress, but watch out for Nancy Lee Grahn
Image
The Daytime Emmys race for Best Drama Actress is shaping up to be a battle between Eileen Davidson (The Young and the Restless) and Nancy Lee Grahn (General Hospital). According to Gold Derby's predictions, the former is currently out front with a 54 percent chance of winning, while the latter is in the runner-up position with 21 percent.

Davidson has played Ashley Abbott, a successful chemist and businesswoman who consistently navigates family drama, on and off since since her The Young and the Restless debut in 1982. During the eligible 2024 season, Ashley experienced Dissociative Identity Disorder and splintered into several different personalities, including Ash, Mrs. Abbott, and Belle. To date, Davidson has won two Daytime Emmys for Best Drama Actress, in 2014 for Days of Our Lives and in 2018 for The Young and the Restless.

Grahn's Alexis Davis has been a constant presence since 1996, and the actress is one of General Hospital's longest-running cast members.

Jim Legxacy Delivers a Brilliant Snapshot of Black British Culture
Image
On “3x,” a standout track from London-based musician Jim Legxacy’s new mixtape Black British Music, the 2016 UK rap classic “Wanna Know,” by Dave — who is also featured on the song — serves as a thematic core. Legxacy’s vocals, sparkling and ethereal, suffused with emotion but never saccharine, give Dave’s iconic hook a new depth. It’s one of multiple references to the track on the tape — on “d.b.a.b.” Jim coos: “I don’t wanna know like the old Dave,” an easter egg of sorts pointing to a specific cultural lineage.

Neko Case Goes It Alone Again, Finally, With New Album in the Fall
Image
Since 2018, Neko Case has published a memoir, collaborated again with the New Pornographers, and continued working on songs for a hopefully Broadway-bound musical. What she hasn’t done since then is roll out a record under her own name, but that drought ends in September, when Case releases Neon Grey Midnight Green, her first non-compilation album in seven years.

The album is previewed with its first single, “Wreck.” An homage to the overwhelming, irresistible power of new love, the song is a jubilant sonic whirlwind all its own, as Case...

Which Y&r Performance Was So Good, It Demands a Daytime Emmy Nomination?
Image
The Young and the Restless cast put on amazing performances last year. From two villains running amok in Genoa City to a character’s struggle with their sobriety, these actors knocked it out of the park. With the 2025 Daytime Emmy nominations being announced on July 10th, these Y&r stars are deserving of a nod.

Sharon Case

Sharon Case was front and center again as her character Sharon spiraled out of control. Hallucinations of Cameron (Linden Ashby) caused Sharon to commit the heinous act of killing Heather (Vail Bloom). Case gave a riveting performance as Sharon grappled with her guilt and reality of the situation. There wasn’t a dry eye when Sharon broke down at Cassie’s (Camryn Grimes) grave after confessing to her crime. Case hasn’t received much love from the Emmys in the past, but this performance is deserving of a nomination.

Sarsgaard Brings Neuromancer Buzz and Bride Secrets to Karlovy Vary
Peter Sarsgaard
Peter Sarsgaard arrived at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival with two forthcoming genre projects in tow—and a pledge to “seek the truth” every time he steps on set. During a Kviff Talk he confirmed his role in Apple TV+’s adaptation of William Gibson’s cyber-punk milestone Neuromancer and called Maggie Gyllenhaal’s Frankenstein off-shoot The Bride! “provocative, sexy, dangerous and punk.”

Apple posted a “Welcome to the Chatsubo” video on YouTube, TikTok and Facebook last week, announcing that the ten-episode series—steered by showrunner Graham Roland and pilot director Jd Dillard—has entered production. Sarsgaard plays patriarch John Ashpool opposite Callum Turner’s hacker Case and Briana Middleton’s mirror-eyed assassin Molly. Polygon noted that Apple’s order ends four decades of failed film attempts to bring the 1984 novel to screen.

Spain’s Cinco Días reports the streamer is banking on Neuromancer to reinforce its science-fiction slate following Foundation and Silo.

Harrison Ford and Sean Young in Blade Runner (1982)
Apple starts work on Neuromancer show, based on the sci-fi classic
Harrison Ford and Sean Young in Blade Runner (1982)
Apple has officially started work on Neuromancer, a new 10-episode adaptation of William Gibson's 1984 novel. Check out the announcement teaser above, which highlights the moody interiors typical of the cyberpunk genre.

Cyberpunk stories take place in dystopian futures where things like cybernetics and artificial intelligence have been integrated into societies. Often there's a huge amount of wealth inequality. Neuromancer didn't invent the cyberpunk, but it did help popularize it. You can see the book's influence everywhere, from Blade Runner to Ready Player One to Cyberpunk 2077. And Gibson was the first person to use the term "matrix" to describe an immersive digital world, so we have him to those movies.

So Neuromancer had a huge influence on cyberpunk and on sci-fi in general, but mostly in terms of mood and setting; I don't feel like many people are familiar with the actual plot. It's about a hacker named Case, who...

Neuromancer | Apple TV+ releases brief teaser for its forthcoming show
Image
Upcoming cyberpunk TV show Neuromancer has a huge reputation to live up to, and Apple TV+ given us a tiny glimpse at what to expect.

AppleTV+ has a rather good sci-fi selection already, but it’s in the process of adding another title to its library that is one of the foundational stories in futuristic fiction. Neuromancer is adapted from the book of the same name by William Gibson, and along with Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner, is largely credited with birthing the cyberpunk genre.

Cyberpunk has continued to flourish in these past few years, not least because of CD Projekt Red’s enormously successful videogame, Cyberpunk 2077, itself adapted from a tabletop role-playing game that like Neuromancer and Blade Runner, launched in the 1980s. While Cdpr are also developing a Cyberpunk 2077 live action TV show along with Anonymous Content, it feels appropriate that Gibson’s seminal novel will arrive on our screens first,...

Neuromancer First Official Teaser Takes Us To A Familiar Location From William Gibson's Novel
Image
Welcome to the Chatsubo, cowboy.

To mark the 41st anniversary of William Gibson's Neuromancer hitting shelves, Apple TV+ has released the first teaser for its upcoming series adaptation of the Cyberpunk classic.

The promo doesn't show much, but we do get to walk through the doors of Bar Chatsubo, an establishment that should be very familiar to fans of Gibson's work.

Briana Middleton is set to play Molly Millions, and some recent set photos revealed that she looks pretty much exactly how the cyborg mercenary is described in the novels.

Molly, also known as Sally Shears and Rose Kolodny, was first introduced in Gibson's 1981 short story Johnny Mnemonic (which was adapted as a critically-lambasted 1995 movie starring Keanu Reeves) before going on to play a more significant role in the Sprawl Trilogy, Neuromancer (1984), Count Zero (1986), and Mona Lisa Overdrive (1988).

She is a ruthless "razorgirl" (street samurai) with augmented reflexes and cybernetic implants,...

'Neuromancer' Gets First Look Teaser as Apple TV+ Series Enters Production
Image
Apple TV+ has released an exciting teaser for its highly anticipated Neuromancer adaptation, offering a first look at a key location from William Gibson's iconic 1984 sci-fi novel. The short clip was shared online on July 1, the same date that the book was published 41 years ago, to announce the start of production on the 10-episode cyberpunk series, which will arrive on the streaming service, courtesy of show creators Graham Roland and J.D. Dillard. Roland is acting as the showrunner, while Dillard is directing the pilot episode.

The 26-second video (shared below) tracks through a dark, empty bar that slowly starts to come to life. A pinball machine flickers on accompanied by gameplay sounds, triggering a domino effect across the room. Other lights turn on before a neon sign illuminates the space, revealing it as "Bar Chatsubo." The watering hole is a primary spot in the Neuromancer novel as it is...

Apple TV+’s Cyberpunk Silo Replacement Gets Major Filming Update
Image
Apple TV+'s Silo has been one of the streamer's biggest sci-fi hits, but now its upcoming cyberpunk series Neuromancer has had a huge filming update. Neuromancer, based on the seminal cyberpunk book of the same name by William Gibson, is one of Apple TV+'s most anticipated new shows. Silo, itself also based on a book, has been a huge hit for the streamer, and Neuromancer could easily do the same.

Neuromancer follows Case (Callum Turner), a hacker who gets roped into doing a dangerous and mysterious job for a man named Armitage and a "razorgirl," or mercenary, named Molly. The story deals with everything from artificial intelligence to transhumanism, and it's considered a pillar of cyberpunk as a subgenre for a good reason.

Now, Apple TV+ has released a teaser for Neuromancer that both confirms the show is currently in production and shows images of the Chatsubo Bar.

After Decades in Development Hell, 'Neuromancer' Adaptation Takes a Giant Leap Forward at Apple TV+
Image
Over forty years after its source material was first published, Neuromanceris finally coming online. Apple TV+ announced that the long-awaited cyberpunk science fiction adaptation has entered production in a new teaser clip. No release date for the series has yet been announced. The series will be an adaptation of William Gibson's seminal 1984 novel, which essentially birthed the entire cyberpunk genre. Many attempts at adapting the novel for the screen have been made, but Apple, whose Macintosh personal computer was likewise first released in 1984, will be the first one to successfully crack the code.

In the teaser, a bar slowly comes to life, its lights and arcade machines switching on, before a neon sign buzzes to life, revealing that the bar is the Chatsubo, the Chiba City lounge that is a key location in the novel. It then announces that the series, which was first greenlit in early 2024, is now in production.

Cyberbunk Fans, Apple TV+ Has Great News for You
Image
Good news for Cyberpunk fans, Apple TV+ is bringing a bold adaptation of William Gibson’s Neuromancer. This adaptation of the sci-fi cult classic embraces the roots of the genre rather than echoing than beating about the bush.

Along with its other sci-fi hits such as Foundation, Severance, and Murderbot, Apple TV+ is shaping up a diverse and vibrant ecosystem for sci-fi viewers, and Neuromancer looks like a promising addition to it. The channel has attempted to create a series that would interest devoted fans and new viewers alike and be a gripping watch, whether you’re a veteran or novice to the genre.

Neuromancer aims to define Cyberpunk and not redo it

As announced in February 2024, Apple TV+ has given the green signal for Neuromancer adaptation into a 10-episode series. This is a significant shift from the previous movie attempts on the same theme that didn’t work out.

Y&r Star Sharon Case on a Shick Reunion: ‘Waiting is Fun’
Image
Sharon and Nick, aka Shick are one of The Young and the Restless’ famous supercouples. The two have gone through many splits and reunions throughout the years. As for whether another reunion is in the works, Sharon Case discussed the exes’ future.

2025: Year of the Shick Reunion?

Sharon (Sharon Case) and Nick (Joshua Morrow) have been through many challenges as a couple. Although they’re no longer together, they’re still friends and remain connected because of their children.

In recent months, Nick became Sharon’s biggest supporter as she went through a series of traumatizing ordeals. He helped clear her name when Ian (Ray Wise) and Jordan (Colleen Zenk) framed her for Heather’s (Vail Bloom) murder. Then helped rescue her when she was kidnapped twice.

Now that life is back to normal, Sharon is thinking about her future. It’s obvious she still loves Nick and has been getting cozy with him.

Inside Man Ending Explained
Image
Who out there hasn't stood in line at the bank, looked around at the layout and the guards and the security cameras, and wondered: How could I rob this place and get away with it? I bet some of you have even figured out what kind of masks your crew would wear. It's a fun game to play and maybe that's why we all love a good heist flick. They give us the vicarious thrill of taking part in a masterplan for a few hours and be part of the gang while wondering how exactly they're going to pull it off.

Spike Lee's "Inside Man" ranks among the most enjoyable modern capers and one of his 8 best movies overall. Released in 2006, Lee assembled a superb cast including Denzel Washington, Clive Owen, Jodie Foster, Christopher Plummer, Willem Dafoe, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and a host of great character actors for a twisty...

Inside Man: Most Wanted Ending Explained: What Happens To Ariella?
Image
Out of the several successful collaborations between Spike Lee and Denzel Washington, heist thriller Inside Man, released back in 2006, was probably not the best, but it sure was entertaining in the way the narrative blended the heist motif with historical context. The movie was supposed to get the sequel treatment in later years, plans for which fell off with the departure of the original cast and director from the project. However, a continuation still came in the form of Inside Man: Most Wanted, with director M. J. Bassett helming the project and an entirely new cast starring in lead roles. Unlike its predecessor, the sequel lacked any narrative depth as it tried to ape the original entry beat by beat, and a forgettable bunch of characters coupled with a predictable plot leaves a bad aftertaste.

Spoilers Ahead

This is shortly after the film broke the record for the franchise for most tickets sold on opening day, earning it approximately ¥1.05 billion (or around $7.4 million) with its first weekend soaring past ¥3.5 billion (or around $24.15 million), jumping past one of its films, The Million-dollar Pentagram.

Detective Conan, or Case Closed, has always been a beloved series in its hometown of Japan, since it pays many homages to the cultural and historic references there through its puzzles and cases. It's a very entertaining crime thriller anime that follows the young detective, Shinichi Kudo, after he is transformed into a child by an evil organization that caught him snooping one evening. How Lifeguard Unleashed the Melodies Inside Their Punk Noise

About a year ago, Lifeguard had an epiphany. They’d been hammering away on a 10-minute noise suite in their hometown of Chicago, layering waves of improvised cacophony into a fearsome slab of sound that they hoped would anchor their full-length debut. Then they realized they didn’t need it.

“We had all these pop songs, but for some reason, we felt the need to have this more punishing thing in the middle, to establish some coolness or something,” recalls the trio’s drummer, Isaac Lowenstein, 18. “But that’s actually stupid.

Neuromancer: Briana Middleton Dons A New Costume As Molly Millions In Latest Set Photos
Image
We recently got our first look at Graham Roland and J. D. Dillard's upcoming streaming adaptation of William Gibson's Cyberpunk classic, Neuromancer, via some revealing set photos featuring Briana Middleton as Molly Millions, and we now have another look at the actress sporting a very different costume.

Millions is a ruthless, but honourable "razorgirl" (street samurai) with augmented reflexes and cybernetic implants, including razor-sharp retractable blades underneath her fingernails and vision-enhancing mirrored lenses covering her eye-sockets.

So far, Middleton is the only main cast member to be spotted on set, but other photos have revealed some background actors in various Cyberpunk-inspired outfits.

Sharon has undergone lots of trauma recently on The Young and the Restless. From being drugged to framed for murder to kidnapped, she’s been put through the wringer. She is a ruthless "razorgirl" (street samurai) with augmented reflexes and cybernetic implants, including razor-sharp retractable blades underneath her fingernails and vision-enhancing mirrored lenses covering her eye-sockets.

Emma Laird will also play...

Soap Opera Critics Review Hits and Misses: Top 10 Moments of the Week of March 10-14
Image
Soap Hub looks at the Hits and Misses for the week of March 10-14 in the worlds of Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and Beyond the Gates.

Top 10 Hits and Misses

10. Hit and Miss: The dueling press opportunities (Btg). The Hit portion of number ten is how Btg executed the Bill (Timon Durrett) press conference along with Dani’s (Karla Mosley), and Nicole’s (Daphnée Duplaix) local TV interview. Loved the way the show cut from one to the other. It kept the action moving, and it was fun. The Miss portion is the fact that Bill had the press conference at all. However, he ultimately lost this battle because Dani came off as humble and apologetic. Even if, behind the facade, she wasn’t.

9. Miss: Joy is pregnant (Days). One person in town already has an oopsie pregnancy...

The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Sharon And Phyllis In For The Long Haul – Loved One’s Panic Justified
Image
The Young and the Restless spoilers document Sharon Newman (Sharon Case) is trying to use her recent abduction experience. Phyllis Summers (Michelle Stafford) believes that taunting their abductor is best.

An unusual storyline could have been reconsidered or ended quickly if Ian Ward (Ray Wise) was revealed from the jump as the villain this time around. But the messages a distorted voice offers, and the setting where these longtime rivals are being held are the only clues as to what’s happening.

Who would be motivated to capture Sharon and Phyllis and keep them together?

Along with that question, viewers must ask themselves who would know each person’s history and details about the rivalry they’ve created over the years.
