Skeletons in the Closet is the latest film from director Asif Akbar. After sitting through several abysmal films he’s directed, most recently Clown Motel as well as an even larger pile of duds he was a producer on, I knew enough not to have high expectations. Even that wasn’t enough preparation for what I was about to endure.

Mark and Valentina are dealing with financial problems. Those problems are about to get a lot worse, as instead of the raise he was expecting, Mark gets a pink slip. As if that wasn’t enough bad news, their daughter Jenny’s has brain cancer and the doctors are willing to let her die unless Mark and Valentina can come...

The team from independent feature drama Isabel’s Garden announced the addition of a strong slate of cast members that are set to help bring the movie to life, which Collider can exclusively share today. The transformational story centers around a woman whose workaholic life is suddenly flipped upside down after a loved one is killed in an accident. The five cast members have been announced to the main cast: Karen David, Gabriela Flores, Valery M. Ortiz, Jayne Taini, and Manuel Rafael Lozano.

A few days after the movie began last month the project changed director from Lance Kawas to Asif Akbar. The production tells us this was down to creative differences. In Skeletons In The Closet, haunted by a malevolent spirit since childhood, a desperate mother allows herself to become possessed in order to save the life of her terminally ill daughter. Script is by Koji Steven Sakai and Joshua A. Cohen. The original story comes from Al Bravo. Producers are Bravo, Asif Akbar, Sakai, Colin Bates, Stan Erdreich and Monica R. Cooper. The project reunites Oscar nominee Howard and Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr after they starred in Lee Daniels’ The Butler.

Exclusive: Indican Pictures has acquired One Moment, a family comedy starring the late Danny Aiello, with plans to release it in theaters in May and on VOD in July.

One Moment tells the story of middle-aged siblings struggling to manage their lives and careers while also caring for their recently widowed aging father, Joe (Aiello). Joe, demanding and difficult, stubbornly believes he is still capable of running his own life which leads to sad, but sometimes hilarious situations. Although at odds on how to best care for Joe in his final years, the family is united in wanting to ensure his well-being and help him find peace of mind—without them losing their own.

Exclusive: Oscar nominee Terrence Howard and Oscar winner Cuba Gooding Jr (Jerry Maguire) are leading the cast in the horror pic Skeletons in the Closet, with shooting to get underway this week in Las Vegas.

Also starring are Clifton Powell (Ray) and Valery M. Ortiz (2 Minutes of Fame). The film is about the spirit of La Llorona granting a costly wish to the parents of a child by curing her of cancer. In saving the child, the mother of the child suffers the consequences by losing her beloved husband and becoming more evil until she pledges her allegiance to La Llorona. The father (Howard) spirals down the path of self-destruction after borrowing hard money from a ruthless mobster to pay the hospital bills for his daughter. Lance Kawas is directing from a script by Koji Steven Sakai and Joshua A. Cohen. The original story comes from Al Bravo.

Lionsgate has released a trailer for a comedy titled 2 Minutes of Fame, formerly known as #TwoMinutesofFame (oh do I hate hashtag film titles and I'm glad they changed this one). The film is about a wannabe comedian who becomes internet famous after making impressions of another comedian. He heads to La to try and achieve greater fame, but ends up in the cross-hairs of the veteran stand-up comic who "plots a rude—and hilarious—awakening for Deandre." Jay Pharaoh stars as Deandre, with Keke Palmer as his girlfriend, and a cast including Katt Williams, RonReaco Lee, Kimrie Lewis, and Valery M. Ortiz. The Trevor Project’s mission to stop suicide in Lgbt (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender) youth will benefit from two star-studded events this weekend.

On Sunday, June 26, “Style Your Life, Live Your Style” will celebrate the lives that have been saved by the Trevor Project and the It Gets Better campaign through fashion, music, and cocktails.

Program (Rwe) is hosting a reading and literacy event at the Westside Pavilion Barnes & Noble (10850 West Pico Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90064) on June 4th & 7th to promote literacy and to shine a spotlight on how important it is for parents to read with their children.

To help ensure this message is heard, the organization has invited various celebrities to read a book (Dr. Seuss or other) for twenty minutes with one of the children at the event (or to their own children). Rwe hopes the celebrity participation will help inspire other parents to undertake this all-so-important activity with their own children. Literacy experts have all stated that if parents read to, and with, their children from a young age, it would solve many of our literacy problems.

NEW YORK -- E! Entertainment Television will expand its online offerings, presenting at least 12 news videos per day on broadband and mobile phones, the Comcast Corp.-owned network said.

The initiative, dubbed E! News Now, will consist of daily one- to two-minute celebrity news videos with the capability to be produced around the clock. The reports will appear on the Vine @ E! Online and other online destinations as well as mobile networks.

Actress Valery Ortiz (South of Nowhere, What About Brian) and Life & Style Weekly editor-at-large Ashlan Gorse, the former host of MTV's Made, will host the segments.
