‘Puppet Master: Doktor Death’ Review – Spinoff Finds a Pulse in the Long-Running Killer Doll Franchise
Image
Doktor Death, the second spin-off in Full Moon’s Puppet Master series, aims low and hits high with its heightened addition to the small-scale horror franchise.

The killer doll genre has been around for decades, but it’s currently in the middle of a Renaissance and there’s never been a better time for the Puppet Master franchise to indulge in wild spin-off experiments. It’s been three years since the release of the last Puppet Master spin-off, Blade: The Iron Cross, and in that time there’s now two seasons of an exceptional Chucky TV series and movies like M3GAN that have pushed horror’s killer doll subgenre to exciting and challenging new places. In some respects these evolutions make something like Puppet Master: Doktor Death feel especially lackluster and irrelevant. That being said, no one who sees Doktor Death is expecting an Annabelle or M3GAN level spectacle.

New Blade: The Iron Cross Trailer Puts a Sick Twist on The Puppet Master Legend
Image
Full Moon Features has unveiled the first full length trailer for Blade: The Iron Cross. The long-awaited movie picks up directly after the events of Puppet Master: Axis Termination and it looks crazy. For decades, horror fans have asked for a solo movie focused on the hook-handed maniac puppet, Blade, and now Full Moon has delivered the goods with the first standalone feature debut for one of its most beloved characters. This first look at the movie is definitely not for the faint of heart.

Charles Band's Puppet Master series continues as an unspeakable evil from Blade's past emerges in the form of a murderous Nazi scientist named Dr. Hauser. As Hauser's heinous crimes are discovered, the psychic war journalist, Elisa Ivanov, awakens Blade, and together the bloody journey of revenge begins. It's Herr Hauser's reanimated undead army versus a possessed doll and a beautiful vengeance-seeking clairvoyant. Who will win,...

Blade: The Iron Cross Trailer Keeps The Puppet Master Legacy Alive
headshot
The first trailer for Blade: The Iron Cross is here. This is the latest from Full Moon Features, the iconic horror studio behind the Puppet Master franchise. Now, after several decades and many sequels, Full Moon is bringing the first standalone feature for one of its most beloved characters: the hook-handed maniac puppet, Blade. As we can see in the trailer, Blade's solo feature debut is going to be a bloody, wild ride filled with Nazis, undead foes and plenty of blood.

The trailer kicks off by showing us a mad scientist explaining his grand, evil plan. A sophisticated ray of sorts that he's concocted will allow him to revive the dead, providing him with a zombie-like army. We see a young woman who comes into possession of the Blade puppet and decides to bring him to life. We don't see much of Blade doing any actual killing, but we...

‘The Killjoy Collection’ Review
Stars: Angel Vargas, Trent Haaga | Written by Carl Washington, Douglas Snauffer, Tammi Sutton, John Lechago | Directed by Craig Ross, Tammi Sutton, John Lechago

In the late 90s/early 2000′s there was a distinct new trend in the horror genre: that of “urban horror”. A genre that brought urban black cinema, and all-black casts, together with the horror genre in much the same way as it did in the 70s during the blaxploitation era. Whilst films like Bones and Vampire in Brooklyn (despite being something of a critical failure) had iconic stars such as Snoop Dogg and Eddie Murphy respectively, it was smaller movies such as Rusty Cundieff’s Tales From the Hood that had all the ideas (if you haven’t seen Tales… you should really track it down).

Not one to miss a trick when it comes to cashing in on popular crazes, Full Moon head honcho Charles Band...

FullMoonStreaming.com to Bring the Clownish Insanity Back with Killjoy's Psycho Circus
After the success of their recent web series Trophy Heads, Full Moon Entertainment has decided to fire up another... and this time they're resurrecting one of their most beloved characters to do so. Be prepared for Killjoy's Psycho Circus.

Bringing back the director of the past two Killjoy films, John Lechago, as well as stars Trent Haaga and Victoria DeMare, and adding on Al Burke and Tai Chan Ngo, Killjoy's Psycho Circus promises to be more of the crazy insanity that made audiences fall in love with the clown and his merry troop in the past.

As with Trophy Heads, Killjoy's Psycho Circus will be released in several segments to allow Charles Band and the rest of the Full Moon production team a chance to present the film in a cliffhanger-type series. Then, after the initial web series has run its course, the film will eventually be released in its entirety.

Ten of the Worst: Horror Films
It is no secret that the genre of horror is saturated, like a wet diaper, with films that should never really have been made, films that are so bad they’re, well, bad. I know that sometimes a film is made that is often a train-wreck yet manages to be entertaining, but surrounding those films exists a bunch of motion picture atrocities that fail on all levels, and those are the films I’ll be looking at in this column. Now, you might not agree with the films I mention here, you might even be a fan of some of them, and that’s fine, this is merely my personal opinions on what I feel are the true horror’s of the horror genre, the poison in the water supply that made me, when I saw them, want to Linda Blair my guts against the nearest wall. These are in...

Enjoying a Guilty Pleasure with Killjoy Goes to Hell: A Movie Review
*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Full Moon Features. Director/writer: John Lechago. Cast: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, John Karyus, Aqueela Zoll, Jason R. Moore, Cecil Burroughs, Randy Mermell, Stephen F. Cardwell, Lisa Goodman, Ian Roberts, and Jessica Whitaker. Killjoy the killer clown returns for a third sequel in Killjoy Goes to Hell. Actor Trent Haaga returns as Killjoy and John Lechago pulls double duty as writer and director. Killjoy Goes to Hell blends campiness with sex appeal and a little bit of violence to create a visually stunning film. Very funny, this latest edition to the series is a truly enjoyable time. This title directly follows the events of the previous film, Killjoy 3. In the previous film, four college students were harassed by an insane demon. Unfortunately for Killjoy, one of his non-studious victims, Sandie (Jessica Whitaker), survived.

Assess the Evidence in this Killjoy Goes to Hell Trailer
Tagline: "The bad clown is going down." The first trailer for Killjoy Goes to Hell was released this week. This is the fourth film from Full Moon Features, which deals with a demonic clown. Actor Trent Haaga will reprise his role and this time Killjoy finds himself in the fiery blazes below. In the story for the film, this white-faced clown is accused of being too soft on mortals. He must prove that he is still evil or lose his powers forever. Killjoy will have to bring his fellow demons to the witness stand including: Batty Boop (Victoria De Mare), Punchy (Al Burke) and Freakshow (Tai Chan Ngo). Only then will he have a chance to prove he is still the most cunning demon around. See Killjoy's opening statement in the trailer below. Director: John Lechago. Killjoy Goes to Hell and Goes on Trial in This New Trailer; Premere Info for Puppet Master: Axis Rising
Not sure if the world has been clamoring for a fourth Killjoy movie, but I must say Killjoy Goes to Hell looks quite intriguing. It's based around the idea of a demonic movie slasher being put on trial in the devil’s courtroom for repeatedly failing to kill his last victim.

Synopsis:

The demon clown Killjoy is on trial in Hell! Having failed in his last outing to claim his victim's soul, he must face the devil himself in Hell's courtroom and prove that he's evil and worthy of a demon. His only hope is the testimony of his last victim and a trial by combat. Killjoy's murderous minions Batty Boop, Punchy, and Freakshow plot a daring rescue attempt, but they have nosy detectives, renegade clowns, and a whole mess of demons in their way. If they fail, Killjoy is damned to oblivion, never to return!

Trent Haaga returns...

Killjoy Goes to Hell in His Fourth Full Moon Outing
Killjoy 3 must have been a modest hit for Full Moon despite the near decade long lay-off between sequels. You won’t have to wait nearly ten more years for the next installment since Killjoy Goes to Hell is about to begin filming.

I didn’t see Killjoy 3 but have heard it was supposed to be pretty decent, certainly the best in the franchise, which, admittedly, is not saying much. Killjoy 3 writer/director John Lechago and Killjoy performer Trent Haaga are set to return for Killjoy Goes to Hell which Full Moon is promising will be “the most insane Killjoy movie of all time.”

Also returning from Killjoy 3 will be his killer clown posse (Punchy, Freakshow, and Batty Boop) played by Al Burke, Tai Chan Ngo, and Victoria De Mare.

No actual plot details have been announced yet but given the title I’m going to go...

Bio-Slime and Putting Indie Horror into (Gooey) Context: A Movie Review
*full disclosure: a DVD screener of this film was provided by director John Lechago.

Director/writer: John Lechago.

Producers: Vincent Bilancio and Tai Chan Ngo.

This reviewer knows John Lechago mostly from his excellent directing work on Killjoy 3. This was a film with a lot of imagination, putting characters in a hellish, but fun world. This film starred Victoria De Mare and Al Burke. Both of these actors also star in Lechago's latest called Bio-Slime. Previously called Contagion, Bio-Slime has been referred to as a blob movie: "a decent blob movie" (Monster). This reviewer would simply call it a B-movie, or a film likely to see a DVD release and made for under a million. Bio-Slime's budget was much lower than this with much of the finances dedicated to special effects artist Tom Devlin's creations. The appearance of porn stars Gia Paloma and Roxi Devill are merely a...

Killjoy 3 Movie Review
Al Burke, Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, and Tai Chan Ngo in Killjoy 3 (2010)
Title: Killjoy 3 Directed by: John Lechago Starring: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare and Al Burke The appeal of horror movies to many fans is that they provide an adrenaline rush of terror from things people fear. With the help of the 1990 mini-series ‘It,’ based on the successful Stephen King novel, clowns have reached the top of the list of things people dread, based on their ease of getting joy of playing tricks on others. B-movie production company Full Moon Features hopes to further capitalize on people’s panic of clowns with its newest straight-to-dvd film ‘Killjoy 3.’ But with its light-hearted, comedic take on the insane killer clown genre made famous by [...]...

The Top Five Best Independent Horror Films of 2010 are Here!
Each year horror sites, newspapers, magazines and other forms of media like to compile these silly "Best of," or "Worst of" lists. Here at 28Dla, we like to follow the crowds, but in a different way. This year's lists will consist of various categories including "Top Five Indie Horror Films," "Top Five Major Horror Release," "Top Five Foreign Horror," "Worst Horror Films of 2010," and "Most Anticipated Horror Films of 2011." These lists will be a little more focused. So, let us start with this first list titled "Top Five Indie Horror Films."

Now, this is a year where close to fifty independent films were reviewed on this site. There was the pain of Danny Dyer's Basement from Revolver Entertainment to highlights like Die-Ner, Get It? and the over-the-top and disturbing Harpoon: Whale Watching Massacre. This list will give you the "Best of" in this competitive genre, as this reviewer has seen the gamut.

Interview with director John Lechago of Killjoy 3
Full Moon Entertainment is the company behind such horror films as Puppet Master, Demonic Toys, Arcade, Shrunken Heads, Shadowzone, Evil Bong, Voodoo Academy, etc. This past year with the release of Puppet Master: Axis of Evil, Demonic Toys 2, and director John Lechago's Killjoy 3, Full Moon Entertainment has gotten back to what made them a success to begin with. With the recent announcement of Evil Bong 3-D, Full Moon Entertainment seems due for a resurrgence after years of struggling. So what does this all have to do with one Mr. John Lechago? Well you see, like Full Moon Entertainment, Mr. Lechago seems to have his career back on track like the company that he has worked for. Killjoy 3 cemented that Full Moon Entertainment is moving in the right direction and so it appears that Mr. Lechago is heading in the right direction as well. Killjoy 3 was...

Killjoy 3 (Review)
2010 - 80 mins. - Rated R

D: John Lechago

C: Trent Haaga, Victoria De Mare, Al Burke, Michael Rupnow, Jessica Whitaker, Olivia Dawn York

The demonic clown, Killjoy, who takes murderous revenge on whomever his summoner wishes uses a group of college students as bait to lure in a college professor who summoned him, but didn't name an actual victim for him to kill.

Watching a film like Killjoy 3 viewers should admittedly know that they are not getting into a film on par with something like The Exorcist. It's just supposed to be a fun way to kill eighty minutes, to have some laughs and to enjoy a few cheap thrills. With that in mind, Killjoy 3 is easily the most successful entry in this franchise. With this, Puppet Master: Axis of Evil and Demonic Toys 2, which were all released this year, Full Moon Entertainment is on a definite comeback trail.

DVD and Blu-Ray Releases: December 14th - Mr. Gacy at the Vampire Circus
This week is the lightest in recent memory with only four (barely) notable horror releases. Synapse Films' 100th release, Robert Young’s classic Vampire Circus, will be gracing our screens and so will Dear Mr. Gacy, the adaptation of The Last Victim, the memoirs of Jason Moss, who corresponded with serial killer John Wayne Gacy. Read on to see what the other two are.

Vampire Circus (1972)

Directed by Robert Young

Starring David Prowse, Robert Tayman, Anthony Higgins, Thorley Walters

A little girl is brutally slain by a vampire in a tiny 19th century Austrian village. Seeking revenge, the townspeople invade the foreboding castle of Count Mitterhaus and kill him for the crime. If you haven't caught up on the year's best documentaries in time to fill out your top 10 list, three of them will be hitting DVD shelves this week, beginning with Josh Fox's Sundance award-winning "Gasland," an exploration of the "hydraulic fracturing" going on in own backyard, a type of drilling that has spread to 34 states in the U.S. and has left a host of reservoirs of toxic waste and frequent gas explosions along the way. For something less serious, but equally compelling, there is also Ricki Stern and Annie Sundberg's "Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work," which follows the...

John Lechago's 'Bio Slime' is now John Lechago's 'Contagion'
It was called Bio Slime. Now, it is called Contagion. But the name changed has not changed how gooey and sticky John Lechago's film is. And a new trailer has been cut so you can watch that after the break.

But beware. Gooey and sticky boobies are a plenty after the break. I'm sure you don't care but your boss or spouse might.

Thanks Capt. Awesome. ...

Bioslime Becomes Contagion, Infects Web with New Trailer
John Lechago's Bioslime is a little low budget horror flick I'm hoping will prove to be good deal of retro-style gooey gory fun. Now comes word that the film has a new trailer and with it a new title: Contagion.

Personally, I'm a little disappointed by the title change. Bioslime sounds a lot more distinct and fun than the generic Contagion. According to Fangoria, this was more a decision made to appease international buyers at the American Film Market. Lechago told Fangoria the following.

The switch was made at the Cannes film market earlier this year. "Since then, Contagion was offered as the alternative title for the international market, and every buyer seemed to prefer that one," Lechago tells us. "We are making a point to include 'John Lechago's' in the title--not because of my raging ego, but because there are actually a few movies out there called Contagion,...

Lechagos Bio Slime Becomes Contagion in New Oozing Trailer
A new trailer for John Lechago's 'Bio Slime' has arrived online. Uh-oh, no wait, scratch that - 'Bio Slime' has become 'Contagion'. The potentially unneccesary re-titling was done to help 'appease international buyers at the American Film Market'. Not quite sure that works especially as director Steven Soderbergh ('Traffic', 'Ocean's Eleven', 'Solaris') already has an action-thriller of the same name lined up for next year with big hitter stars such as Matt Damon, Marion Cotillard, Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Winslet and Jude Law all currently filming. You'll just have to make do with hotties like Monique La Barr and Victoria De Mare (whom appears topless in the flick - seen below). Anyhoo the name change will stick and 'Contagion' will ooze across the oceans very soon and you can check out the new trailer below....

No Clowning Around in this Killjoy 3 Trailer
Killjoy 3 Concept ArtThere is something disturbing about clowns turned murderous. Clowns are designed to entertain children, but when you give them sharp teeth and lines like: "your ass is mine!" all sorts of difficult emotions emerge. Killjoy the clown is central to the story of Killjoy 3, which was filmed in China (Dread) and now preparing to horrify North American audiences December 14th. Apparently there were two other films in this series and they were totally missed by this reviewer; however this second sequel is sure to keep you away from the circus for quite some time. Try to enjoy the trailer for this project, which is full of great one-liners from actor Trent Haaga!

The synopsis for Killjoy 3 is here:

"Four college students on spring break cross paths with the demon clown Killjoy. And Killjoy is not going it alone this time - he has raised three other demon clowns: Punchy,...

Trailer for Killjoy 3 and a DVD Release Date
Charles Band's evil clown flick Killjoy came out in 2000. A sequel followed in 2002. I was under the impression that these films were not exactly warmly received, certainly not enough to warrant a third installment eight years later. However, if you are a fan and have been clamoring impatiently for more evil urban clown antics, then the arrival of the trailer for Killjoy 3 should make your day.

There's not only a trailer for Killjoy 3, but also a December 14th DVD release date has been announced. Full Moon Direct will even have Killjoy box sets available for Halloween.

John Lechago (Blood Gnome, Bioslime) handles the writing and directing duties on behalf of Charles Band for this Full Moon offering. The exact plot remains unknown other than the below summary from YouTube. What is known is that it was apparently filmed in China and Trent Haaga returns as the titular killer clown,...

Final Teaser Trailer - Bio-Slime
Nothing tickles our fancy (or our naughty bits for that matter) quite like slime does. It's just so sticky! Bio-Slime, however, you may want to see a doctor about. Don't believe us? Check out the final teaser trailer for the flick!

Bio-Slime centers upon a group of seven people who are trapped inside a building when a massive sentient and hungry glob of slime begins to eat anything it can get itself onto, all of them having ended up in this building because of in-fighting. Will they be able to work together long enough to fight back against the Bio-Slime? And how do you stop slime anyway?

The film’s final teaser is below, and the Bio-Slime site is live, complete with a much more detailed plot synopsis and a messy, gooey still gallery among other things. Bio Slime is the third feature from director John Lechago after Blood Gnome...

Final Trailer For John Lechago's Bio Slime Gets Icky.
More often than not when a director cuts a trailer that is all music and no dialogue it's a sort of tacit acknowledgment that the acting just isn't very good.  Director John Lechago has done exactly this with the new trailer for his finally completed cult scifi horror picture Bio Slime. But let's be honest. Nobody comes to a film called Bio Slime for acting. They come for slime. And the trailer has lots of that. So good on you, John, lots of the stuff that people want and none of the stuff they don't. Onwards! Bloody Disgusting got the first look at the trailer and you'll find it below.

Near Nipple on New Bio Slime One-Sheet
Writer/director John Lechago's upcoming goo-fest 'Bio Slime' may one day get an actual release date, but for now check out the new one-sheet poster for the flick. Now I don't personally think this one's a patch on the previous 'green' style poster and it seems a little 'blob'-like for my tastes but there is some potential of a nipple slip on the new one so I guess eveyones a winner. You can check out both the ...

John Lechago Gets Icky With Bio Slime *Updated*
[Our thanks to Captain Awesome for pointing out the new trailer for this one.  More bio.  More slime.  You know the drill.  Hit the link below to check ‘em out.]

I’ve always had a sweet spot for 1950’s b-grade science fiction and a particular weakness for The Blob and apparently low budget film maker John Lechago feels exactly the same way.  His latest effort, Bio Slime is an obvious nod to the blobby days of yore, albeit a nod filtered through the much more explicit filters of films such as Evil Dead and Braindead.  If you’re a fan of this sort of thing then the plot line shouldn’t matter very much but if you’re curious it revolves around a strange mass of slime released from a mysterious brief case during a drug deal gone bad.

A new trailer has just arrived online thanks to the fine lads at Fangoria, who also have some fresh stills.  Check it out below the break.

Exclusive new Bioslime trailer and pics
Writer/director John Lechago gave Fango the first look at the latest trailer for his indie creature feature Bioslime, as well as a couple of new exclusive photos; you can feast your eyes on them below the cut. The movie, on which Lechago also served as cinematographer, editor, visual FX supervisor and set designer, is currently in postproduction.

“I am finishing up the visual effects, but there is still a great deal of work to be done,” Lechago tells us. “I’m getting some help from a colleague of mine who’s an excellent effects artist, and I still have a little more insert shooting for background plates. Other than that, the music score is done and the sound editing is well underway. The polish is a meticulous and labor-intesive process, especially for a low-budget production. I want this thing to look as good as it possibly can!”

Bioslime stars...

Gooey images surface for John Lechago's Bio-slime
Alright! There hasn't been a decent "sentient slime" movie since Chuck Russell's 1988 remake of The Blob. Add to that a gooey 80s style Re-Animator vibe courtesy of practical FX magic and we've got ourselves the makings of a low-budget horror masterpiece here.

More and more people end up in Troy's art studio, fighting amongst themselves so that they don't notice that a monstrous threat has trapped them in the building. A group down the hall is filming an adult movie when they are attacked by the massive glob of slime. One of them is able to escape and runs into the art studio, screaming. Only then do they discover the extent of their predicament.

Trapped in a room with only one door and no windows. Their cell phones do not work and no one outside of the building can hear their calls for help. The group of seven people...

New Bio-Slime Pics
While we’re still waiting to find out when we’ll actually get to see John Lechago’s awesomely-titled Bio-Slime for ourselves, the sickos over at Undead Backbrain just nabbed a slew of exclusive images from the upcoming sci-fi/horror hybrid, one of which you can see on your right.

Bio-Slime is about a group trapped in an apartment complex when a sentient, hungry slime seeps in from unknown origins and begins taking down the complex’s denizens.

If these pics are any indication, this is going to be one nasty, sticky mess of a movie (in a good way, of course), so of course we’ll continue to chart its progress and let you know when you, too, can see it. For more info be sure to hit the official Bio-Slime website, too!
