CONtv Will Release Its First Feature-Length Film On March 31
CONtv just launched earlier this month, but the convention and pop culture-focused streaming network already has a big piece of content planned. The Cinedigm and Wizard World-owned channel will release its first feature-length film Mythica: A Quest for Heroes on March 31, 2015.

Mythica: A Quest for Heroes is the first flick in a larger, epic trilogy. The first CONtv film tells the story of Marek (played by Survivor’s Melanie Stone), an escaped servant who learns to develop her unique powers through her wizard mentor Gojun (acted by fan-favorite Kevin Sorbo of Hercules: The Legendary Journeys and Andromeda). After her sister Teela (Dawn of the Dragonslayer’s Nicola Posener) is kidnapped by an ogre, Marek gathers a motley gang of adventurers to help her rescue her sister from captivity.

The first Mythica film is directed by Anne K. Black (The Crown and the Dragon), who told Yahoo Finance the female-driven story...

Watch: Video featurette for Dawn of the Dragon Slayer ahead of DVD/Blu-ray launch on February 13
Having breathed enough mythological fire to secure the Best Fantasy Film prize at BleedFest in Los Angeles, Anne K. Black's Dawn of the Dragon Slayer is heading to UK stores on DVD and Blu-ray on February 13, 2012.

The film is the first fantasy dragon feature to be directed by a woman and Anne presented the world premiere of the movie at BleedFest last September.

The festival is held in Los Angeles every month and celebrates "the women who love writing, producing, directing, and watching badass genre movies: action, thriller, sci-fi, horror, fantasy, western, exploitation (of men or audience only), B-movie, and erotica."

It was the first directing role for Anne, who also co-wrote the special effects extravaganza and previously co-scripted the 2003 modern-day update of Pride & Prejudice. After the praise for Dawn of The Dragon Slayer, she is now finishing work on another sword-and-sorcery film titled The Virgin And The Warrior.

It's all about the moustaches in Orcs!
Year: 2010

Directors: James MacPherson

Writers: Anne K. Black/Jason Faller/Kynan Griffin/ Justin Partridge

IMDb: link

Trailer: link

Review by: agentorange

Rating: 7 out of 10

My theory that Park Rangers derive their powers from their moustaches was proved right when I caught Orcs! over the weekend. You might have thought they get them from their excessive slacking, pot smoking or even their ability to keep cashew crumbs off their boxer shorts, but no - it's all about the moustache, baby.

Orcs! is a low budget horror/comedy about Orcs that come down from their mountain home and terrorize a Nationl Park. The film aims for the funny bone before the juggular and while it won't have you rolling on the floor, it at least has what it takes to make you consistently crack a smile. This is due in huge part to the pairing of Park Rangers Cal played by Adam Johnson...

Orcs! and a Case of the Giggles: A Movie Review
*An online screener of Orcs! was provided by Archstone Distribution.

Director: James MacPherson.

Writers: Jason Faller, Anne K. Black, Kynan Griffin, and Justin Partridge.

Archstone Distribution will distribute the horror action comedy Orcs! August 31st, 2011 and this is not a modern re-telling of Lord of the Rings, but more of an exercise of the funny bone. Adam Johnson plays Cal, a burnt out forest ranger. His days on the job are numbered, as a urine test will soon prove his marijuana usage. Enter in a whole slew of armored hellions, and you have a mix of action comedy, with a flashback or two of Tolkien.

You know you are in the genre of a silly comedy, when a forest ranger is found at the bottom of a campground toilet. Only his head remains above the excrement and soon, the groans begin. Cal's straight-laced sidekick Hobart (Maclain Nelson) adds in some laughs,...
