The Hunt for Tupac’s Killer: Confessions, Conspiracies, and Confusion
Image
As He Took his sunrise walk through a quiet Las Vegas suburb of tan stucco houses and desert landscaping in late September, Duane Davis resembled nobody’s idea of a gangster legend. A bald man on the soft side of 60 in a white Polo Sport T-shirt and loose-fitting pants, he could have been just another middle-aged neighbor plodding uphill against the ravages of time.

Whatever reverie Davis enjoyed ended as officers from Las Vegas Metro’s Criminal Apprehension Team swiftly approached in tactical gear out of unmarked vehicles. “Hey, Keffe,...

Tupac’s Sister Calls Murder Charge Pivotal Moment, But Reminds Fans: “Multiple Hands Involved”
Image
Tupac Shakur’s sister has called the charge of a gang leader with his murder “a pivotal moment.”

Sekyiwa Shakur posted on her social media her feelings following the indictment on Friday of Duane “Keffe” Davis on one count of murder.

Sekyiwa wrote that “”today is a victory” but “reserved judgement” until legal proceedings had been completed.

She said: “It’s important to me that the world, the country, the justice system, and our people acknowledge the gravity of the passing of this man, my brother, my mother’s son, my father’s son.

“There have been multiple hands involved and there remains so much surrounding the life and death of my brother Tupac and our Shakur family overall. We are seeking real justice, on all fronts.”

Her words follow those of Tupac’s step-brother Mopreme Shakur, who told CNN:

“We have been through decades of pain. They have known about this guy,...

After 27 Years, Duane ‘Keffe D’ Davis Arrested For Role In Rapper Tupac Shakur’s Murder
Image
Rapper Tupac Shakur was murdered at 25 years old in a drive-by shooting in 1996, and police have finally arrested a man who was involved in the plot to kill him.

Las Vegas police arrested Duane “Keffe D” Davis early Friday morning on a charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Davis has in the past been very public about his role as a witness to Tupac’s death, as well as hip hop mogul Marion “Suge” Knight on the Las Vegas strip in September 1996.

Davis said that he was in a white Cadillac with four others when they pulled up next to the rapper’s car, rolled down the windows, and shot Shakur four times.

In his memoir Compton Street Legends, Davis wrote that his nephew, Orlando Anderson, was responsible for the fatal shooting. Anderson was a member of the South Side Compton Crips gang and died in a gangland shooting in...

‘Unsolved’ Stars On Depicting The Forgotten Friendship Between Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G. — Turn It On Podcast
Tupac Shakur in Tupac: Resurrection (2003)
It’s been more than 20 years since the tragic murders of Tupac Shakur and Christopher “Biggie Smalls” Wallace, and memories of many details may have faded. In particular, it’s been nearly forgotten that despite all the hype of an East Coast/West Coast rap war at the time, Tupac and Biggie were initially pals — and respected each other’s craft.

USA’s new series “Unsolved: The Murders of Tupac and the Notorious B.I.G.,” focuses on the failed investigations into the murders of both hip-hop stars, killed when they were in their 20s and at the height of their fame. Was it a function of the so-called East Coast-West Coast rap wars at the time? Was it a gang hit? And were rogue cops from the Lapd involved? Plenty of theories have been bandied about through the years, and “Unsolved” dives into those details with new gusto.

But...

The letter will be auctioned off by Gotta Have Rock and Roll between July 19 and 28 with a starting bid of $100,000.

"I've waited a long time 2 finally write this mainly because I was struggling to find all the answers that I wouldn't leave any unanswered questions. First and foremost, I must apologize to you because like you said I haven't been the kind of friends I know I am capable of being," Tupac wrote, later explaining that he broke up with Madonna because of her race.

"Can u understand that? For you to be seen with a black man wouldn't in any way...

Howard Stern at an event for Crazy Love (2007)
Tupac's relationship with Madonna ran deeper than anyone knew. In 2015, the Material Girl made headlines after revealing she had dated the rapper three years before his death in 1995. "One time I was mad at [David Letterman] when I said the f-word a lot, but the rest of the time was good," Madonna told Howard Stern. "I was in a weird mood that day. I was dating Tupac Shakur at the time, and he had got me all riled up about life in general. So, when I went on the show I was feeling very gangsta." Later that year, the rapper's brother, Mopreme Shakur, told Vlad TV he helped facilitate the romance. "She gave me a note to give to him; I was just happy she was giving him a note. Everybody was there. I...
