The Crazies and Kick-Ass are celebrating their 15th anniversaries with SteelBook 4K Uhd + Blu-ray + Digital editions. They’re due out on May 13 exclusively from Lionsgate Limited.

Priced at $34.99, The Crazies features new artwork by Attila Szarka. It’s presented in 4K with Dolby Vision Hdr and Dolby Atmos sound.

The remake of George Romero‘s 1973 sci-fi horror film is directed by Breck Eisner (“The Expanse”) and written by Scott Kosar (The Texas Chainsaw Massacre) and Ray Wright (Case 39).

Tubi continues to be the gift that keeps giving this holiday season as another film is heading to the free streaming service in the new year. The element of ridiculousness – arguably not just allowable but vital for this sort of film – is supplied by the always watchable Huppert, though she arguably goes a tad too far with one fit of crockery-smashing, table-splintering rage in a restaurant.

French legend Isabelle Huppert is unleashed in Greta, in which she plays the title character: a desperate, lonely but unfortunately not-all-there woman seeking companionship and finding it, at least initially, with Frances (Chloe Grace Moretz), a waitress who recently moved into her friend’s (Maika Monroe) New York City loft and is grieving the loss of her mother.

When Frances finds Greta’s lost purse on the subway, she dutifully returns it to the woman at her Brooklyn apartment and they strike up a friendship. But the more Frances finds out about Greta, the less she wants to be around her -- a state of affairs that the increasingly unstable Greta will go to any length to change.

Chicago – Admittedly, horror films are not my thing. I find them redundant, pandering and more reliant on gore rather than story. “Greta” is somewhat of a thriller horror film, about an older lady stalker preying on a younger New York City woman, but it had both a seen-it-before and unreliable plot.

And man, the plot holes! It’s New York City and I know that crimes are underreported, but I think if the police were involved (as they are here) addresses would be written down. Neil Jordan's Greta, the one where Isabelle Huppert stalks Chloe Grace Moretz, is just campy enough to almost work. Almost.

No good deed goes unpunished, and no sweet kindness in a Hollywood thriller can be anything other than a snare of malevolent intentions. Such were the traps laid by Kathy Bates in Misery, Jennifer Jason Leigh in Single White Female, and even the bunny hoppin’ mad Glenn Close, who should’ve never been ignored in Fatal Attraction. Thus Greta emerges from the perpetually underlit New York streets that are conveniently empty of people and witnesses. Isabelle Huppert and director Neil Jordan seek to add a maternal extinct to these well-worn cinematic hunting grounds, but perhaps they should’ve also brought a tent to go with their sinister binoculars, because there’s nothing here but a lot of camp.

It’s the score that finally gives it away, after an airless first 15 minutes in which it seems like perhaps Neil Jordan — “Crying Game” and “Michael Collins” and “Butcher Boy” Neil Jordan! — has finally lost it and taken Isabelle Huppert and Chloe Grace Moretz along for the ride. Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, Lawrence Bender, James Flynn, and Karen Richards serve as producers.

Ske’s produced Hell Or High Water with OddLot Entertainment, and its next theatrical release is Brad’s Status starring Ben Stiller, Michael Sheen, Luke Wilson, and Jenna Fischer.

Ske produced Brad’s Status with Plan B, while Amazon Studios co-financed the dramedy and will distribute in North America. Sierra/Affinity handles international sales.

Recent Golden Globe winner Isabelle Huppert and Chloe Grace Moretz have signed on to star in The Widow, helmed by Oscar winner Neil Jordan.

Ray Wright wrote the script, which follows a young woman who is missing her deceased mother and is new to Manhattan. She strikes up an unlikely friendship with an older widow, but the widow’s intentions turn out to be sinister.

Lawrence Bender, James Flynn and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, an Sk Global company, are producing the buzzy project. Sierra/Affinity will represent foreign sales for the thriller and is launching the project at this year’s Cannes Film Market....

Noomi Rapace to play seven sisters in What Happened to Monday?, co-starring Glenn Close.

Paris-based Snd has boarded Tommy Wirkola’s upcoming high-concept sci-fi action film What Happened to Monday?, starring Noomi Rapace and Glenn Close.

The previously announced project, which has been in development for some time, is produced by Vendome Pictures and Raffaella Production and fully financed by Snd, which will handle French distribution rights as well as international sales.

The partners announced on Wednesday (May 6) that the production is due to shoot in Bucharest late July.

“Working with Vendôme pictures and Raffaella productions to produce this project with us is a thrill. They have found and polished a gem of a story we are excited to bring to the screen. 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy director David Slade is set to direct a psychological thriller called The Widow, which was written by The Crazies screenwriter, Ray Wright.

The story "centers on a young woman who befriends a lonely widow only to discover that their encounter was not a coincidence."

Slade has been attached to various projects over the years such as Daredevil, Villain, Matched and Coward. We know that Daredevil isn't happening, but I'm not sure what's going on with any of those other movies he's been attached to. There's been no new updates on them since the initial announcements. 

I think Slade is a talented director, so I hope we get to see a new movie from him soon. The movie is set up at Vendome, and CEO/Producer Philippe Rousselet had this to say in a statement,

The film, produced by Vendome Pictures, is written by Ray Wright. Acquired by Vendome Pictures earlier this year, The Widow has found a director in David Slade. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy helmer will take on the Ray Wright (The Crazies) screenplay.
