Ashlee Simpson Ross is heading to Las Vegas!

The 40-year-old “Pieces of Me” singer will headline the I Am Me residency at Voltaire in the Venetian Resort this August.

The performances will take place between August 29 and August 30 over Labor Day weekend.

“I’ve been holding onto this news for a while, and I’m beyond thrilled to finally share it — I’m hitting the stage in Vegas!” she said to Variety.

“Music has always been the place where I feel the most alive, and I’m looking forward to sharing that energy with you all. I’m so grateful for my fans who have supported me throughout my entire career. Let’s make these shows unforgettable!”

A reboot of the classic family drama 7th Heaven is reportedly in early development from CBS Studios, with one of the show’s original stars on board as an executive producer, according to Variety.

Through her production company Iron Ocean, Jessica Biel is reportedly developing a new iteration of the show, one that would follow a diverse family. No original cast members are expected to appear at this time.

Variety has reported that a 7th Heaven reboot series is officially in the works with Jessica Biel returning as a producer and Anthony Sparks showrunning. Michelle Purple will also produce the series along with Biel under their Iron Ocean Banner, with DeVon Franklin also attached to the reboot series as a producer with Franklin Entertainment. The reboot series will reportedly focus on a diverse family and will follow none of the original cast members, but the project is still in the early stages, meaning these details are subject to change. At the time of writing, no casting has been worked out, and it’s unclear where the series will stream or air. There is also no word on a potential release date or window.

The original 7th Heaven series was written and created for TV by Brenda Hampton, with Sue Tenny, Chris Olsen, and more working in the writer’s room on the series.

Give it up to Questlove — his new documentary, Ladies & Gentlemen… 50 Years of SNL Music, is killer, especially its imaginative opening montage of musical mash-ups. But while Questlove (mostly) wanted to honor SNL’s long history of eclectic, electric performances, not every musical guest delivered the goods. I’m not talking about musicians who turned in great performances but still caused the show headaches, like Sinead O’Connor, Rage Against the Machine or Elvis Costello either. For 50 years, Saturday Night Live has entertained audiences with live comedy and music. Sometimes, the drama behind the scenes can be equally appealing. But according to Lorne Michaels, one longstanding SNL myth isn't based on the truth.

Michaels and some cast members have hinted that certain hosts aren't welcomed back to Studio 8H. So it stood to reason that the same went for musical guests who either pushed the envelope too far, didn't follow SNL rules, or just flat-out underperformed.

Not the case, says the Saturday Night Live boss. “I’ll read it sometimes in the Post, ‘So and so’s banned for life,' " Michaels said in the documentary Ladies & Gentlemen...50 Years of SNL Music. "And no, we’ve never banned anyone. We’re way too crass and opportunistic. If something’s hot, we’re going to go for it and have it on."

Virtually every major artist has performed on it, and for musicians on the rise, it’s a sign that they have almost arrived, that they’ve attained enough popularity or curiosity or — perhaps most important — controversy for the show to take a chance on them. As a kid, Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson would go to bed on Saturday nights at 8:30 p.m., but his parents were “cool enough” to wake him up to watch the musical performances on Saturday Night Live as well as Soul Train. So when he got the call from Lorne Michaels to direct a documentary of the musical side of the series celebrating 50 years, he was ready.

But he did more research. “I knew those episodes by heart,” says Questlove, who got the call in 2020 to work on Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music and was 4 years old when SNL launched in 1975. “I was trying to do the math in my head. I’m like, ‘Well, it’s 2020 and the anniversary is in 2025. If I can do about five to seven episodes daily, then maybe I can catch up to it.”

Saturday Night Live is pulling out all the stops for its 50th anniversary. In a move to that will deepen the feud between two rap titans, Drake has filed a lawsuit against his own label, Universal Music Group, for using illegal methods to promote the latest Kendrick Lamar diss track against him, “Not Like Us.”

According to legal documents, Drake claims the musical monolith used AI bots to promote the single, which was released this past May. The Toronto native said that the information was given to him from an “inside source” indicating that Umg breached FCC statutes in practicing payola, which is paying for airtime.

Jessica Biel and Beverley Mitchell reunited on Nov. 16 at the Global Down Syndrome Foundation's 16th Annual Fashion Show in Colorado, and Biel showed it all on her Instagram account (check them out here). The actress shared a series of photos from the event, including a red carpet reunion with her former TV sister, Mitchell. The reunion happened 17 years after the series wrapped and 20 years since the two actresses last shared a screen as Mary and Lucy.

There’s a buzz around a possible split between star Jessica Simpson and ex-NFL player Eric Johnson. As per TMZ, two sources close to Simpson note L.A. divorce lawyers have been contacted to talk about her marital situation over the past two months.

The sources have told TMZ that an individual close to Jessica contacted a Los Angeles divorce attorney in late March, explaining Simpson wasn’t happy with her marriage and wanted to schedule a meeting with them and the singer. Speculation about whether the meeting took place still remains.

As of this writing, TMZ noted that Simpson did not personally contact a divorce lawyer; however, the outlet did state that a second person on Jessica’s team reached out to another L.A. divorce attorney to talk about related matters. With that being said, nothing further has been done.

Rumors surrounding a potential split between pop singer Jessica Simpson and her husband, former NFL player Eric Johnson, have intensified in recent weeks.

Multiple sources suggest that close friends of Simpson have discreetly sought legal counsel in Los Angeles, raising questions about the state of the couple’s ten-year marriage.

According to TMZ, a source with direct knowledge mentioned that in late March, someone in Simpson’s circle reached out to a Los Angeles divorce attorney.

Although it’s unclear whether Simpson directly requested this, the person conveyed to the lawyer that Simpson was “unhappy” in her marriage.

While no direct steps were taken by Simpson herself, the tone of the message was reportedly firm. A separate contact from Simpson’s team also approached another divorce lawyer, but there has been no further follow-up.

In a recently unearthed interview with Lorne Michaels from that same year, the SNL head remembered the complete shock — and nothingness — that was on stage that night from Ashlee Simpson. “I was in the control room going, well, I mean there’s just egg out there now. I mean there was nothing to watch.”

Michaels would add that Ashlee Simpson’s immediately infamous SNL appearance left him in a rare position: he had no control.

7th Heaven stars Beverley Mitchell, David Gallagher and Mackenzie Rosman — best known for their roles as Lucy, Simon and Ruthie Camden on the WB drama — are acknowledging the series’ tarnished legacy as it relates to TV dad Stephen Collins, who in 2014 admitted to inappropriate conduct with three minors between 1973 and 1994.
