Following a recent report that Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature a number of villains that have yet to be disclosed, we're now hearing that the movie will also include appearances from some more MCU heroes.

We don't have any character names, unfortunately, but scooper Mttsh reports: "Not only other villains, but other heroes too! Are in Spider-Man Brand New Day."

Interestingly, while quite a few villains have been rumored, we haven't heard much about other heroes aside from The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and The Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), who have both been confirmed. Could this indicate that the rumors we've heard about Jean Grey making her MCU debut in the movie are on the level, perhaps?

To make the occasion, Sony’s posted an official day one featurette showing Holland in action, with it sporting our best look yet at his new spidey suit. Filming is currently taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, with the city standing in for New York City – and bystanders have gotten a glimpse of some interesting stuff. Not only did Holland greet fans in full costume, but there’s even a video taken on the set that gives a glimpse of some explosive action!

Sony Pictures has released an official behind-the-scenes vignette for “Spider-Man: Brand New Day,” giving fans a look at the first day of production.

In the 60-second video, we see star Tom Holland suit up as Spidey, interact with young fans and shoot a scene on top of what appears to be a tank careening down the street.

We got our first piece of major casting news for Sony Pictures and Marvel Studios' then untitled Spider-Man movie back in March, with Stranger Things alum Sadie Sink set to join Tom Holland for his fourth solo outing as the wall-crawling hero.

At the time, Deadline's report mentioned that the "prevailing theory" is that she will play Jean Grey, but the site added that she could appear as "another beloved redheaded Spider-Man character."

There have been several rumors relating to Sink's role since, with some claiming that she's been cast as Mayday Parker, others certain that she's going to be Gwen Stacy, and we have also heard that she will actually be introduced as a new take on Mary Jane Watson (Zendaya plays "Mj" in the movies).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day was shooting in Surrey, England, yesterday, and we now have some high-resolution shots of Tom Holland as Peter Parker. The hero's face shows some telltale signs of a brutal battle, suggesting this might be from later in the movie.

It's still hard to tell whether Zendaya was shooting scenes with Holland as Mj, though the actress is wearing her clothes and hair in a way that's not dissimilar to the McU's Michelle Jones.

Fake snow was being used for the scene where Peter leaves flowers at his Aunt May's grave, meaning his visit takes place during winter, similar to how things wrapped up in 2021's Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Interestingly (or perhaps not), the shape of Aunt May's grave has changed. It's strange to see this prop look even slightly different when Marvel Studios is usually pretty good with continuity. Regardless, we wouldn't read too much into this fairly minor alteration.

J.K. Simmons' take on J. Jonah Jameson was so iconic that The Amazing Spider-Man movies didn't revisit The Daily Bugle newsroom. In fact, we didn't see Jjj on screen again until 2019's Spider-Man: Far From Home, where he was once again played by Simmons.

Scrofano is the new entry to Brand New Day‘s loaded cast, which includes the likes of Punisher, Scorpion, and Hulk. Although her role in the movie remains under wraps, Punisher’s presence in the plot does raise the possibility of Scrofano playing Silver Sable in the movie.

For the unversed, both Punisher and Silver Sable have crossed paths in the comics before, oftentimes as uneasy allies, given both her skilled mercenaries and antiheroes.

It looks like Jon Bernthal is more than ready to give us a full-blown dose of his unforgettable version of Marvel anti-hero Frank Castle. After making his return to the Marvel Universe in Daredevil: Born Again's first season, Bernthal has moved on to a project of his own creation — a new Special Presentation (similar to Werewolf by Night and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special) starring The Punisher. In a video posted on social media, Bernthal appears thanking the crew for the twelve-day shoot and giving a wrap speech.

Sadie Sink's mystery Spider-Man: Brand New Day role continues to be a hotly debated topic online, though we're still no closer to knowing for sure who the Stranger Things and O'Dessa star will play when she makes her MCU debut.

Jean Grey, Mayday Parker, and Black Cat are just a few of the names we've seen floating around since Sink's casting, but Kristan Harloff is reporting that he's heard a "pretty good guarantee" that Sink will play Gwen Stacy in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

It’s one of my favorite genres, and Prime Video has been dropping a steady stream of big, funny, explosion-filled movies (including the latest one starring Eddie Murphy!). Between these newer titles, some underrated sequels, and a few all-time crowd-pleasers, I went back through everything and pulled the seven best movies streaming on Prime Video right now. This week has seen us treated to all manner of spectacular action shots from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day in Glasgow, Scotland. While work has continued there today, Tom Holland has just been spotted in London as Peter Parker...and he wasn't alone.

Zendaya was seen reprising her role as Michelle Jones, with Mj and Peter standing at Aunt May's graveside. This could be a repeat of Spider-Man: No Way Home's ending, where Peter spoke with Happy Hogan, who, thanks to Doctor Strange's spell, had no idea that he was his ex-girlfriend's nephew.

The movie is the fourth in Tom Holland’s Spider-Man series and picks up after No Way Home (2021). It’s part of Phase Six in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and is scheduled to come out in the U.S. on July 31, 2026. Zendaya returns as Mj, but it wasn’t always a sure thing.

Last year, there was a lot of confusion about whether she’d even be in the film. In November 2024, Zendaya had started working on The Odyssey with Holland, and that made things tricky.

The film is the fourth in the MCU’s Spider-Man series, following No Way Home from 2021. It’s part of Marvel’s Phase Six and is currently set to hit theaters on July 31, 2026. Zendaya’s return had been uncertain for a while, especially after she started working with Holland on The Odyssey.

There were even reports that her role might be cut down a lot because of scheduling conflicts. Jeff Sneider shared in December that her part had been “severely reduced” since she was also committed to filming Euphoria season 3 and Dune: Part Three around the same time.

Before becoming a master of the modern Western genre with the Yellowstone franchise and several other action series on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan wrote Sicario. The action film premiered in 2015 and had Dune director Denis Villeneuve at the helm.

The first film starred Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin. The last two reprised their roles in a less-successful sequel, 2018's Sicario: Day of the Soldado, but the franchise is also expected to continue with a third entry, Sicario: Capos. In a new appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, franchise star Josh Brolin gave an exciting sequel update, confirming Sicario 3 is real.

Around the 43:23 mark, the conversation reached Sicario 3, and the rumors that Brolin, del Toro, and Blunt would reprise their roles. "I mentioned at some point, I don't know, just to be contrary, I was like, 'Yeah, that's never going to happen,' " Brolin started.

Marvel Studios' The Punisher Special Presentation has now officially wrapped filming in New York, and a video featuring star Jon Bernthal giving an impassioned speech to his cast and crew has been shared online via photographer Steve Sands.

The video sees Bernthal, who reprises his role as Frank Castle from the recent Daredevil: Born Again, thanking those around him for coming together to complete what he describes as an "impossible" 12-day shoot.

The crew was most likely under some pressure to get the Special in the can as quickly as possible, as Bernthal is expected to leave for London this week to begin filming his scenes as the Punisher for Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Jon Bernthal is officially back as the Punisher. Marvel Studios has wrapped filming on a brand-new TV special for Disney+, and it’s set to bring Frank Castle back to the MCU in a big way. The upcoming special doesn’t have a title yet, but it’s confirmed to be a part of Marvel’s Phase Six and will land on Disney+ sometime in 2026.

This project is being called a “Marvel Studios Special Presentation,” and it’s the third one to be released under that label. It’s also the second MCU project focused on the Punisher, following the Netflix series that ran from 2017 to 2019. That earlier series was produced by Marvel Television, while this one is fully under Marvel Studios.

Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle, and this time, he’s more involved than ever. He not only stars in the special but also co-wrote it with director Reinaldo Marcus Green.

Earlier in the summer, the streamer released Heads of State on July 2, starring Idris Elba and John Cena in the lead roles, with even Prime Video alum and The Boys star Jack Quaid making a memorable appearance.. Since its debut, the film has drawn in more than 75 million viewers worldwide, establishing it as the fourth most-watched Amazon MGM Studios’ film of all time on Prime Video, according to a new report.

The performance of Heads of State continues a strong viewership performance for the streamer in recent times, with other movies such as Dwayne Johnson and Chris Evans’ Christmas action comedy Red Onedrawing in 50 million views within days of its release and The Accountant 2, starring Ben Affleck and Jon Bernthal, which garnered 80 million views within its first month.

Filming on Spider-Man: Brand New Day was paused in Glasgow today, and The Scottish Herald brings word that Marvel Studios has made a big change to its plans.

The original idea was for the movie to be filmed in the city between August 1 and August 15. Now, the shoot has been extended to August 26, 11 days longer than originally reported. As today proves, that doesn't mean we'll get new shots of Spidey daily, but it bodes well for us seeing more characters and scenes from Spider-Man: Brand New Day in the weeks ahead.

"The Herald understands that filming will continue in the Merchant City area of the city until August 18," the site reports, "before halting for a few days and then picking up again from August 21 until August 26."

In one of the first photos from the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, we spotted a tank with a demonic symbol on the side. Many fans rushed to the conclusion that it must belong to the Inner Demons, but Mister Negative reportedly isn't set to appear in the movie.

While that's a little disappointing, if that symbol means what we think it does, it could be a game-changer for the MCU and, more specifically, The Punisher. He's supposedly the one driving that tank, and the symbol bears at least a passing resemblance to The Hand's.

Earlier this week, the brand new Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, began filming. The fourth of the Tom Holland-starring Marvel Cinematic Universe films is looking to bring the iconic character back to theaters after several years away and live up to the massive expectations that have been looming over the franchise ever since the prior installment, Spider-Man: No Way Home, became a billion-dollar zeitgeist-seizing bonanza. While that film was a multiversally-indebted legacy sequel of sorts, bringing together three generations of Spider-Man franchises under one roof, the new film is set to be something decidedly different. Both Holland and Marvel head Kevin Feige have reiterated in interviews that the fourquel is to be a “street level” film, which focuses solely on this Spider-Man, rather than another big multiverse-shattering behemoth.

Back in May, it was reported that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would feature two Japanese villains. Mister Negative is Chinese, not Japanese, meaning fans were left puzzled.

Later, there were reports of Silver Samurai and Viper appearing in the movie. That didn't make a ton of sense as neither are typically Spider-Man villains; instead, they're closely connected to the X-Men and, more specifically, Wolverine.

However, if we're getting a gang war story with multiple street-level bad guys, they could appear in a small supporting role, with the stage set for them to return in future MCU projects.

While we wait and see what happens with that, costume prop modeller Monica Avitto was discovered by fans (it's since been taken down) and includes a page titled "Spiderman" with dozens of Japanese and Samurai costumes, masks, and items.

Plans change all the time, of course, and these characters may have been dropped from the script long ago.
