Creed Cover U2’s “Where the Streets Have No Name” in Memphis: Watch
Image
Creed added a surprise to their setlist on Sunday night (July 27th) in Memphis, covering the U2 classic “Where the Streets Have No Name” for the first time in concert.

Get Creed Tickets Here

Fan-filmed video from the gig shows lead guitarist Mark Tremonti and touring guitarist Brian Brasher playing The Edge’s famous ringing intro on the anthemic opening track from The Joshua Tree. The cover is pretty faithful to the original, although Scott Stapp’s raspy hard-rock delivery offers a different vibe than Bono’s soaring original vocal track. With it being the first time Creed has performed the song live, Stapp can be seen occasionally peeking at the lyrics on a monitor.

Creed’s “Summer of ’99” North American tour continues tonight (July 29th) in Wichita, Kansas, and runs through an August 30th show in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Pick up tickets here, and see the band’s cover...

‘It Ends With Us’ Soundtrack: All the Songs You’ll Hear
Image
The film adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s It Ends With Us follows Lily Bloom (Blake Lively) as she meets neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid (Justin Baldoni) in passing and then reconnects with him after she opens her flower shop. A complex love triangle arises as Ryle and Lily begin dating, but then Lily runs into old flame Atlas Corrigan (Brandon Sklenar) at his restaurant Root, and memories of her childhood come flooding back.

Ryle also has a dark side that reminds Lily of her parents’ relationship, with her father (Kevin McKidd) abusing her mother. It all builds to a challenging choice that Lily has to make to break the cycle or let it break her.

Taylor Swift’s “My Tears Ricochet” made it into the trailer for the film, and many other songs by women singers and songwriters like Lana Del Ray, Brittany Howard and Birdy back the strong story. Of course,...

Patrick Stewart and Drew Barrymore Sing With Creed in Peak Paramount+ Super Bowl Ad
Image
What can one do when stuck on the metaphorical Paramount Mountain other than sing with Creed?

On Wednesday, Paramount Plus shared their fever-dreamish Super Bowl commercial starring Drew Barrymore, Patrick Stewart, Miami Dolphins’ Tua Tagovailoa, Peppa Pig, and Arnold from Hey Arnold as they figure out how to get over a snowy mountaintop.

“If it were a football, I’d be able to reach the top,” Taogvailoa says after throwing an anchor.

“What about a football-shaped head?” suggests Stewart, looking at Arnold from Hey Arnold. “We throw the child.”

Bonkers Paramount+ Super Bowl Commercial Features Creed, Patrick Stewart, Arnold, and Peppa Pig: Watch
Image
An absolutely bonkers new Super Bowl commercial from Paramount+ features a wild cast of Creed, Patrick Stewart, and Drew Barrymore, alongside cartoon characters Arnold (from Hey Arnold!) and Peppa Pig, among others.

The clip, titled “Sir Patrick Stewart Does a Hail Arnold,” also boasts Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, Survivor host Jeff Probst, and Reno 911 star Thomas Lennon, as well as Dora the Explorer, Sonic the Hedgehog‘s Knuckles, and Halo‘s Master Chief.

All of the aforementioned celebs and characters are trapped at an icy canyon on Paramount Mountain. Their solution is to have Stewart throw Arnold and his “football-shaped head” to the top of the mountain with a rope so they can all climb up.

While the celebs debate whether they should “throw the child,” we hear the opening guitar strums of Creed’s “Higher,” as we see Barrymore look over to see Creed’s Scott Stapp and...

Wtf Happened to Scott Stapp and Creed?
Image
It was Thanksgiving 2001, and America was still recovering from the 9/11 terrorist attacks from the month before. The wound was still fresh; the debris was still being rummaged through, and we were sad, angry, confused and lost. Desperately looking for some hope to cling to, so as Americans often do, we turned on the good old boob tube to watch some football Americano. It was halftime, which meant it was time for musical entertainment. But how could we rock n roll at a time like this? How could we bang our heads, jump around and wave our arms in rebellious joy when the pain from this tragedy still clouded our thoughts? Was it too soon to rock? That is what many people thought, but the members of the band Creed knew that music was exactly what we needed. Surrounded by Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders, American flags, and men literally flying overhead, Creed exploded onto the red,...

Mark Tremonti Shares “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year” from Upcoming Holiday Album: Stream
Image
Mark Tremonti is best known as the guitarist for Alter Bridge and Creed, but he’s also proven himself to be quite the crooner.

The veteran rocker is set to release a collection of holiday and Christmas standards titled Christmas Classics New & Old on October 27th, and he’s now shared the opening track, a rendition of “The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.”

Tremonti sings a graceful version of the ubiquitous holiday-season anthem alongside a jovial horn section, proving why he has become a renowned Frank Sinatra interpreter in his downtime from Alter Bridge.

Last year’s covers album, Mark Tremonti Sings Frank Sinatra, received acclaim for its faithful and accomplished renderings of Sinatra staples and even led to a series of “Tremonti Sings Sinatra” concerts, including three that are set for January 2024: January 5th; January 6th; and January 13th.

Chris Cornell
In what came as shocking news for almost everyone, popular rocker and musician Chris Cornell passed away suddenly yesterday. Best known as the lead singer of Soundgarden and Audioslave, the man was only 52-years-old at the time of his death. No cause for his sudden passing has been given at this time. Over the past 12 hours, many of his friends and peers in the music business have gathered on Twitter to pay their respects.

Earlier this morning, the Detroit Police issued a statement to ABC News that the singer may have committed suicide. His death is now being investigated as such. Officer Jennifer Moreno has informed ABC News that Cornell was found at midnight. He was inside his hotel room at the MGM Grand in Detroit, where he had just been checked in on by a family friend. Scott Stapp is starting a new tour, and he promises that it’ll include some of the most intimate performances he has ever given.

In a multi-city trek that starts this summer, the singer will perform acoustic versions of some of his biggest hits with Creed as well as some of his new solo work. The stripped-down format will allow him to connect with his audience on a deeper level. “What I’ve been through will reflect in my music,” he tells People. “I think it makes it a lot more authentic and raw.”

By his own account, it has...

Dead 7 Review
For a B-Movie maniac like myself, Dead 7 sounds like a late-night dream. Take some 90s-era boyband icons, throw ’em into a steampunk-y Western dystopia, and record a closing-credits collaboration with lyrically tied-in cheesiness. Backstreet’s back, right?! Wrong.

Much to my dismay, audiences are “treated” to yet another SyFy disasterpiece courtesy of The Asylum – cable TV’s leading team in cut-rate, storyless boredom for everyone. It’s a shame this zombie shoot-out wastes sky-high genre potential on a studio who’s more about marketing ploys than production, because, dare I say a smile crept on my face once or twice?

The cast is a who’s who of your annoying little sister’s fantasy boyfriends, including members of N*Sync, Backstreet Boys, 98º, O-Town and Everclear – but not Justin Timberlake, Lance Bass or any of the Big names (sans Joey Fatone, I guess? Is Nick Carter still a thing?...

The Passion Live: Chris Daughtry Sings 'Bring Me to Life' as Judas — Grade It
The Passion (2016)
Chris Daughtry‘s American Idol days might be over, but he’s still game to perform a few cover songs every now and then.

The rocker was tasked with doing just that during Sunday’s pseudo-live broadcast of The Passion, Fox’s modern retelling of Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection.

RelatedThe Passion‘s Jesus Tackles Creed’s ‘With Arms Wide Open’ — Grade It

Filling the role of Jesus’ traitor, Judas, Daughtry took center stage with a solo performance of “Bring Me to Life,” originally made famous by Evanescence.

As Judas came to grips with the idea of eventually turning his back on Christ,...

How Would Jesus Sing? The Passion's Jencarlos Canela Talks Getting into Character as Christ
The Passion (2016)
[Youtube "kR6fAZHgfxM"] Learning to sing like Jesus isn't easy. "I had to re-teach myself how to sing," Jencarlos Canela tells People of preparing to play the role of Jesus Christ in Fox's live, musical event The Passion . Canela says "no one can fill the shoes of Jesus" but the Telenovela actor thought long and hard about how Christ should sound when singing during the two-hour event, which airs Sunday. "As a singer, I've developed a way of singing with runs and trills. But we decided that I wouldn't sing with any of that for the show," he says. "And I think that...

People Review: Chris Rock Rocked the Oscars
Louis C.K.
With the racial controversy overshadowing this year's Academy Awards, last night was probably the most pointedly satirical Oscars ever. (Perhaps the “only” pointedly satirical Oscars ever.) It was also a terrific show. Chris Rock, who previously hosted in 2005, dispensed with any cute musical numbers introducing the nominated movies, and he wasted no time tackling what is now known by the hashtag #OscarsSoWhite. Taking the stage after a clip compilation of the year's major movies, he said, "I counted at least 15 black people in that montage." What followed was a sharp, clever standup set that managed to: 1. Nicely tweak the issue.

Watch: 'Saturday Night Live' Hilariously Takes On #OscarsSoWhite
With #OscarsSoWhite showing no signs of abating as a trending topic, it would be a dereliction of duty if "Saturday Night Live" didn't offer a take on the controversy. Indeed, The Not Ready For Prime Time Players didn't disappoint this weekend. Read More: Consider This: Is #OscarSoWhite A Symptom Of Movies Losing (Even More) Ground To TV? "Screen Guild Awards" offers a pretty simple premise, running down the all-white nominations for Best Actor that get increasingly absurd in overlooking the black performers of the various pictures, which include parodies of "Creed" and "Beasts Of No Nation." And the punchline is both broad and pointed. Watch below.

Saturday Night Live Almost Gets Too Real With Their #OscarsSoWhite Sketch
Saturday Night Live (1975)
Saturday Night Live was clearly not holding back this week. After Tina Fey returned to give her craziest impression of Sarah Palin yet, things took an even more political turn when the show offered its take on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. If you're not familiar, this year's list of Oscar nominees depicts a shocking lack of diversity, overlooking stunning performances like Michael B. Jordan's in Creed and Will Smith's in Concussion. Celebrities have been quick to share their thoughts, and we've explored the topic as well. Watch SNL's take on the whole thing, above.

SNL's Response To Oscar Controversy Is Hilarious And Over The Top
No controversy would ever be complete without Saturday Night Live providing a pitch perfect commentary on the matter. They’ve done it for the political process, celebrity scandals, and just about every major blockbuster released in recent memory. Their latest take on American culture involves the decidedly monochromatic Oscar nominations that recently caused a storm of controversy. Check out the sketch below to see it for yourself. The sketch opens with Cecily Strong introducing all of the best performances from the last year. Each entry represents a thinly veiled version of some of the year’s best films, ranging from Creed, to Straight Outta Compton, to Beasts of No Nation. Despite the racial themes and strong performances from black actors in these fictional movies, the men nominated for their performances are all white. Some of the men nominated barely had any impact on the overall plot of ...

Tracy Morgan Bemoans Trump, 'Star Wars,' 'The Godfather' on 'Fallon'
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon (2014)
Tracy Morgan was in rare form on The Tonight Show Monday, bemoaning all the cultural changes — from Donald Trump's political rise to the new Star Wars — he missed while he was hospitalized in a coma after a 2014 car crash.

Morgan opened by congratulating his old Saturday Night Live cast mate Jimmy Fallon on beating David Letterman in the ratings, before sulking, "I'm going back in the coma," after learning the Late Show host was no longer on the air.

From there, the comedian went off on Trump's lead in the polls,...

Sevendust: Kill The Flaw – 11 Tracks Reviewed & Ranked
Asylum

Rating: ★★★★

Somewhere along the way, the idea of a band writing something that could intentionally be classified as ‘radio rock’ became tantamount to the antichrist.

Granted some do it better than others, and the overly-poppy likes of Seether’s recent output is definitely far more opaque when it comes to wanting to fill arenas versus simply cashing in as much as possible, but Sevendust have always stayed on the right side of that divide.

More than ever on Kill the Flaw, you have a group that know this formula better than the competition. Their secret weapon has always been the multi vocal-attack of Lajon Witherspoon and Clint Lowery, throwing out soaring clean harmonies alongside more guttural-sounding passages, biting lyrical delivery and staccato sections.

Such a well-rounded and immediately appealing sensibility routinely puts off the more ‘hardcore’ metal crowd, but to have such a close-minded attitude misses out on many...

Alter Bridge: 10 Tracks You Need To Call Yourself A Fan
Roadrunner

The industry might be in a rocky state right now when it comes to adequately showcasing the best talent and getting it in front of the most receptive audiences, but for hard rock and metal acts, bands like Alter Bridge forever guarantee the best rewards are for those who seek them out instead.

Over the years they’ve soared like a phoenix from the embers of Creed, emerging as a band with a devout purpose; to combine the melodies and song-structures that got the post-grunge legends to the top of the charts and stadium headline bills the world over, with a hard-hitting workmanlike attitude that ensures they’d earn every seat in every chair.

So what does it mean to be an Alter Bridge fan in 2015? Do you know your Couer D’Alene’s from your Cauterize’s? Your freeform jazz interludes from your flamenco instrumentation sections?

Maybe so,...

Week in Review: Theater chains reduce release window before VOD
Every year the movies seem to be dying. The writing is on the wall with attendance numbers and box office receipts and the Golden Age of TV. Will people still go to the movies if they can now watch high quality, HD programming from their own home?

Theater chains themselves have been reluctant to give in to Netflix and VOD, but at the risk of being made obsolete entirely, two chains are doing an experiment suggesting they may be willing to play ball. THR reported this week that Paramount, AMC Theaters, and Cineplex have struck a deal regarding two of their upcoming films, the new Paranormal Activity movie, and Scout’s Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse, both October releases. Traditionally, movies are not available on VOD or digital release until three to four months after their initial run in theaters is over, which can be anywhere from a month to six weeks for genre movies.

Tremonti: Cauterize – 10 Phenomenal Tracks Reviewed & Ranked
FRET12/Austin Hargrave

We always knew it was going to be good – but for Mark Tremonti (lead shredder of Alter Bridge and ex-Creed co-founder) to top his phenomenal first solo album, that was would have to be something mighty special indeed.

Luckily, when you’ve got one of the best melodic minds in modern metal (try saying that ten times fast) you don’t do things by half, and from the positively furious opening riff of Radical Change, through the soaring vocals of the title track and the unabashedly epic Fall Again or Providence, Cauterize is one Hell of an album.

Genre-wise it ticks boxes left, right and centre – seriously, when things like the mid-point breakdown of Tie the Noose kick in, no volume setting on earth can do it justice – easily slotting into everything from heavy metal to hard rock, with plenty experimental song structures and everything in between...

10 Best Alter Bridge Tracks
Austin Hargrave

You know when you come across a band who just have wall-to-wall phenomenal material, every fan’s going to have their own favourite choruses, vocal moments, guitar solos and more – but it’s always fun to delve in and pick some favourites; a definitive top 10 you could recommend to everyone.

For Alter Bridge it’s been one hell of a ride getting to the top, with heavy metal-loving lead guitarist Mark Tremonti slowly injecting more crushing rhythms into the band’s work as vocalist Myles Kennedy’s becomes more accustomed to playing in front of huge stadium-sized audiences fronting Slash’s newest outfit, birthing a combination whose confidence shows more and more in everything they do.

Backed by one of the tightest rhythm sections in the business in drummer Scott ‘Flip’ Philips and Brian Marshall on bass, 2013’s Fortress is their most accomplished and experimental work so far...

Alter Bridge: 10 Awesome Tracks You’ve Never Heard
Youtube

It’s not hard to recommend a slew of phenomenal tracks when the band you’re delving into hasn’t had too many rise to the surface of mainstream recognition, but still, chances are anyone reading this has at least head of Alter Bridge. Either as “That band who used to be Creed” (although that’s starting to fade after over a decade of association), “Slash’s singer’s band” or “Those guys that did Edge’s wrestling theme song”, Ab are a band with talents elastic enough to stretch across a great many different places, becoming all three of these things – but also much, much more.

From the teeth-rattling riffs of lead guitarist Mark Tremonti – a man who sweats enough talent-juice to release sequential grade-a material for over a decade now – to Myles Kennedy, their frontman who tickles the moon with his high notes without even breaking a sweat,...

Scott Stapp at an event for 50 First Dates (2004)
Friends and Family React to Scott Stapp's Meltdown
Scott Stapp at an event for 50 First Dates (2004)
When Creed singer Scott Stapp posted a disturbing video on his Facebook page last week, many people began to worry about his well-being. During the 15-minute video, Stapp said he was "under some kind of pretty vicious attack" with rumors circulating that he was dead or on drugs. He also said that he was broke and living in a Holiday Inn. Although he has fought alcohol abuse in the past, Stapp claimed to be "as sober as can be." The video sparked concern for Stapp's mental state, but things grew even more disturbing when he released two more rambling videos.
