Image
Dr. Pepper Fansville features a star-studded cast with notable celebrity cameos, from actors to athletes, in over-the-top commercials. The ensemble cast brings to life the exaggerated town of Fansville, showcasing a mix of stereotypical high school drama characters. Dr. Pepper branding is prominent in the commercials, but the talented cast members deliver funny performances that keep viewers entertained.

Dr. Pepper Fansville is an episodic series of commercials for the soft drink brand in which several notable actors and athletes have made funny appearances. The series first began in 2018 and ran up through 2022, starting with the introduction of the fictional town "Fansville", a generic town where generic fans of the generic local team "State" root against their arch nemesis "Tech". The citizens of Fansville often get into exaggerated dilemmas reminiscent of those from soap operas, though with the solution always revolving around Dr. Pepper.

The Fansville commercials succeed not just with a bunch of celebrity cameos,...

Why Survivor Should Bring Back The Classic Auction
Image
One of the most entertaining elements of old school Survivor was the Survivor Auction, which was a fan favorite reward challenge that should be brought back for current seasons. The Survivor Auction was first introduced in season 2 in 2001, and appeared with regularity until season 30. The auction was different from the series' typical reward challenges, in that it provided the contestants with a respite from the competition by allowing them to bid on food items, luxury items, and in some instances, contact with their loved ones.

Eventually, Survivor began introducing game advantages into the auction, which eventually led to the challenge's demise. Contestants began waiting to bid until the advantage appeared, causing the food and luxury components of the auction to be less jovial and lighthearted. The final straw for the Survivor Auction came in season 30, when Mike Holloway nearly reneged on a deal that he made with his fellow castaways,...

Shaquille O’Neal aka DJ Diesel on Performing Live: “It’s Like Being in a Basketball Game and Having People Cheer You On”
Image
NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal moonlights as DJ Diesel, and he compares the rush of performing live onstage to playing on the basketball court.

“It’s like being in a basketball game and having people come and cheer you on and support you,” the 50-year-old Inside the NBA analyst told The Hollywood Reporter ahead of his performance at his annual pre-Super Bowl extravaganza, Shaq’s Fun House, which took place Saturday night.

“I just want everybody to have a good time,” he added.

But while the icon has released four rap albums in the past — including the 1993 platinum success Shaq Diesel — he’s not looking to drop more projects.

“No,” he simply said when asked if he would release an album based on his DJing.

More than 5,000 people attended Saturday’s over-the-top and wild music and circus-styled festival at the Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona, which featured circus games, a Ferris wheel,...

Football, TV’s Biggest Game, Makes Massive Play for Smaller Crowds
Image
The closest thing to sports running on the Freeform cable network since it came under Disney ownership in 2001 might be “Make It Or Break It,” a soapy series about the lives of young gymnasts hoping to get to the Olympics. On Sunday, Freeform will really be taking the field.

Viewers who tune to Freeform looking for “Hunger Games,” “Alice in Wonderland” or one of the movies Freeform typically shows each weekend will at 1 p.m. tomorrow find themselves part of a massive sports play. Freeform will show –of all things — an NFL Wild Card match between the Baltimore Ravens and Tennessee Titans. Nickelodeon and Telemundo, two other TV outlets known for things other than sports, will also try football on for size this weekend.

“It’s an experiment. We’ve never done it before,” says Sarah Lindman, senior vice president of content planning and strategy at Freeform, in an interview.

Molly Shannon

When urban legends meet videogames
Ed Kegenof Jun 16, 2017

As The Evil Within 2‘s announced, we take a look at what happens when urban myths and legends collide with the realm of gaming...

Most people can cite at least a couple of urban legends or conspiracy theories. Paul McCartney isn't really Paul McCartney. A ghost haunts a single shot in the 80s comedy hit Three Men And A Baby. Blowing on Nintendo cartridges makes them work better.

With the advent of the internet, we might be forgiven for thinking that outlandish claims and tall tales would be chased away by the might of Google or a website like Snopes, where myth-busting facts are but a search term or click away. Instead, the web has allowed creepy stories and urban legends to travel more quickly than ever, as they’re copied and pasted in forums, emails and social media posts - hence the oft-used term 'creepypasta', used to describe these strange,...

‘Ballers’ Season 3 Trailer: The Rock is Back And Ready to Ball Across the Globe — Watch
Dwayne Johnson in Ballers (2015)
Not even significant, invasive surgery can keep The Rock from balling.

The second season of HBO’s “Ballers” ended with Dwayne Johnson’s character, Spencer Strasmore, checking into a facility to address the hip issue that had been bugging him all season long. By the looks of it, it seems like the operation was not a failure.

No word on the lasting fate of the body of Spencer’s financial consultant associate Joe Krutel (Rob Corddry), whose unfortunate nipple piercing was another high (low? both?) point, last we saw these Miami football professionals. But if you think that any fresh appendages or an artificial ball-and-socket joint would keep this show from doing what it’s done for the last 20 episodes — show scantily clad women, impossibly talented athletes and unbelievable business expenditures, all within close proximity of the beach — think again.

NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8 Episode 12 Review: Kulinda
Kensi's feeling left behind, and it's a weight on the whole team.

New relationships are forming, or solidifying on NCIS: Los Angeles Season 8 Episode 12. Except for Kensi, who's inadvertently ruining hers with Deeks.

Before I cover all the personal drama, let's take a quick look at the case of the week, such as it was.

Sam got to dress up and go undercover at the same private-security firm where this week's victim worked. There was a hint of dirt, but no, a couple of the guys at the firm were helping out a misguided young man and one of them got killed for his troubles.

(Shoutout to Eddie George, the former All-Pro running back, who played one of Sam's security-firm co-workers and who may be the next ex-nfl player to make the transition to acting.)

Sam's contribution was to make an inspirational speech to keep the firm's boss from ruining his and his company's reputation.

Eddie George
When Eddie George was catching touchdown passes and breaking rushing and receiving records for the Tennessee Titans, no one expected that one day he would be singing and dancing his way through musical theater. 'American Dream Builders': Nate Berkus guts and renovates from the heart
The amiable Nate Berkus returns to home improvement TV with NBC's "American Dream Builders" Sunday, March 23.

This show sets an ambitious goal: Two teams renovate two houses of the same architectural style in the same neighborhood -- in a week. As executive producer, host and one of the judges, Berkus selected the 12 designers, who must work together.

"The decision was made that they would all be professionals and very established in their own communities and local markets," Berkus tells Zap2it. "They weren't fighting to become the next anything.

They already have very successful businesses and clients, and some of them had worked 20 years to build that. And this show is not about discovering new talent. It is about bringing established talent into everyone's home. Every week two homes are renovated from wall studs up and re-created and reimagined. That will give lots of people ideas."

The homes in the...
