‘Art & Krimes By Krimes’ Filmmaker Alysa Nahmias Signs With WME
Image
Exclusive: WME has signed award-winning filmmaker Alysa Nahmias and her production company Ajna Films for representation.

Nahmias most recently directed the awards-contending feature documentary Art & Krimes by Krimes about Philadelphia artist Jesse Krimes, who found a way to create stunning artworks while behind bars, smuggling his large-scale artwork out of prison as a way to survive in the act of creativity. The film acquired last year by MTV Documentary Films has won numerous festival prizes. After a limited theatrical run, Art & Krimes by Krimes will launch November 29th on Paramount+.

Nahmias also recently produced Amazon Studios’ celebrated documentary Wildcat from directors Trevor Frost and Melissa Lesh, which world premiered at the 2022 Telluride Film Festival. Directors of Oscar-Hopeful Amazon Doc ‘Wildcat’ Discuss Mental Health, Film’s Life-Changing Multi-Million Deal
Image
In October of 2021, Amazon Studios announced it was acquiring Trevor Beck Frost and Melissa Lesh’s “Wildcat” for a price nearing 20 million, a staggering sum for a doc of its kind. Produced by 30West, the film tells the story of former British soldier Harry Turner and conservationist Samantha Wicker, who help heal each other while caring for a small ocelot wildcat in the deep Peruvian rainforest.

This is Frost and Lesh’s first feature film. Frost comes from a still photography background, with work published in National Geographic and the New York Times, while Lesh has previously worked with short films. The documentary has picked up considerable steam on the brink of awards season, having recently been nominated for two IDA Documentary Awards for editing and score (Patrick Jonsson).

Amazon has already launched the film’s FYC page, which includes several categories including best documentary film, directing and original song...

Trevor Frost and Melissa Lesh (‘Wildcat’ directors) on ‘unbelievable story’ about a soldier, a scientist and a baby ocelot [Exclusive Video Interview]
Image
“I was a still photographer before making this film,” reveals Trevor Frost, who co-directed the Amazon Prime Video documentary “Wildcat” with Melissa Lesh. “I was looking for a new story for National Geographic magazine and I was down in Peru looking for anacondas with a team of local and international researchers. We were there for 60 days and we weren’t finding any anacondas. I was sitting in a hotel lobby and Harry walked by and he’s covered in tattoos and he didn’t have a shirt on. My friend leaned over and said, ‘Did you see that young man with the tattoos? His name’s Harry, you won’t believe his story.'”

Amazon Prime Video is pushing new wildlife documentary “Wildcat” — from directors Melissa Lesh and Trevor Frost and producers Joshua Altman and Alysa Nahmias — into the busy nonfiction fall fray. This powerful documentary, made at the intersection of military Ptsd and animal conservation, debuted at the Telluride Film Festival this past summer to strong notices. Prime Video will now release the film in theaters on December 21 and on the streaming platform on December 30. Watch the trailer exclusively on IndieWire below.

Per the official synopsis, “Wildcat” follows the inspiring story of young veteran Harry Turner on his journey into the Amazon. Once there, he meets Ph.D. candidate Samantha Zwicker, who is running a wildlife rescue and rehabilitation center, and his life finds new meaning as he is entrusted with the life of an orphaned baby ocelot. What was meant to be an attempt to escape from life turns out to be an unexpected journey of love,...

‘Extraction’ DVD Review
Stars: Bruce Willis, Kellan Lutz, Gina Carano, D.B. Sweeney, Joshua Mikel, Steve Coulter, Dan Bilzerian, Heather Johansen, Roman Mitichyan, Christopher Rob Bowen, Rob Steinberg, Lydia Hull, Tyler Jon Olson | Written by Max Adams, Umair Aleem | Directed by Steven C. Miller

I have a love/hate relationship with Bruce Willis these days. On the one hand he stars in films I love such as the Red, G.I. Joe and The Expendables; and on the other he appears in direct to market dross like The Prince, Set-Up and Vice. Now don’t get me wrong, some of the direct to DVD titles Willis has appeared in are pretty good, Fire With Fire for example, but he’s been batting way below average on the Dtv front recently.

Extraction sees a ruthless terrorist group kidnap retired spy Leonard Turner (Bruce Willis; GI Joe: Retaliation, Die Hard, Armageddon), and threaten to unleash a...

Steven C. Miller Thriller Extraction Recruits Kellan Lutz And Gina Carano
Hot on the heels of joining Ryan Reynolds for Deadpool, Fast and Furious and Haywire starlet Gina Carano has signed on for Steven C. Miller’s upcoming CIA thriller Extraction, along with Twilight star Kellan Lutz.

News comes via Deadline, who report that the pair will star opposite Bruce Willis in the actioner. According to the outlet, Lutz will assume the role of Harry Turner, a rookie agent yet to cut his teeth in the agency. With his father (Willis) missing, Turner flies in the face of direct orders and sets out on a mission to find him, but this soon leads to a manhunt spearheaded by Carano’s steely field operative, Victoria. And given the actress’ ass-kicking reputation accrued from her time spent in Mma, we don’t envy Turner’s plight.

With a father-son dynamic orbiting around the CIA, Extraction isn’t a million miles away from The Cold Light of Day,...

Kellan Lutz Prepares For Extraction
Bruce Willis at an event for The Expendables (2010)
The cameras are already cranking for Bruce Willis’ latest thriller, Extraction, which finds him as a man on the run from a homicidal dentist with a tooth removal fetis... Ah, apparently that’s all in our heads. It’s a much more straightforward film, and Kellan Lutz is now aboard to play Willis’s son.Steven C. Miller is directing this one, which finds Willis as a retired Secret Service agent who is kidnapped by some nasty terrorist types. So his son, Henry Cavill Lutz’s Harry Turner, disobeys his CIA bosses and goes hunting for him. Which, somewhat naturally, triggers a manhunt for Harry, with Gina Carano’s field operative dispatched to track him down and bring him back. And here we thought they’d have sympathy with this plight?Dan Bilzerian, Lydia Hull and Tyler Olson are aboard this one, which features a script by Umair Aleem and Max Adams.
