Studied Civil & Environmental Engineering at University of California, Berkeley. Upon graduation with a Bachelors of Science degree, he moved back to Los Angeles for an engineering job and concurrently worked on his Masters of Science degree, completing the latter in 2 years.

Worked at CH2M (before it was bought by Jacobs Engineering) as a staff engineer while also starting his master's degree (also in engineering). He later switched to work for a different organization and graduated with his graduate school degree about 18 months later.

He is the son of a Chinese father and a Taiwanese mother. He has a younger sister.

Albert is an avid runner. He frequently runs with local LA running clubs and have done 5K, 10K, half marathon, and full marathon races.

Frequent world traveler. As of the year 2022, he has visited Iceland, Italy, France, Germany, Austria, Spain, Japan, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Argentina, Galápagos Islands, Ecuador, Nepal, Peru, Canada, Mexico, Egypt, Jordan, Turkey, and more.

Loves roller coasters.

Holds a Professional Engineer License for the state of California from the Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors, and Geologists.

Passed his PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course as well as the Enriched Air (Nitrox) Diver course at the Koh Tao (or Ko Tao) island of Thailand in the year 2018.

Got his California Boating License Card in the year 2022.

Has received training and attained certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid from the American Heart Association (AHA) and the American Red Cross, respectively.

Passed and received his California Firearm Safety Certificate. He missed only one question on the 30-question test.

He earned his sailing license from the American Sailing Association (ASA) in December 2022, allowing him to skipper a 25-foot keelboat. He received his Basic Coastal Cruising certification in November 2023, letting him skipper a 35-foot keelboat.

Attained his PFI (Performance Freediving International) freediver certification in 2023.

Finished the Tokyo Marathon in March 2024.

Finished the Berlin Marathon in September 2022.

Finished the Chicago Marathon in October 2023.
