Star City, the upcoming Soviet-era spin-off set in the universe of For All Mankind, is almost finished filming — and co-creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi say the end is finally in sight. The cast of the series includes Rhys Ifans, Anna Maxwell Martin, Solly McLeod, Agnes O’Casey, Alice Englert, Adam Nagaitis, Josef Davies, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, and Priya Kansara.
“We’re very close to the end of the production process and getting into the editing and visual effects,” Wolpert told Collider's Steve Weintraub in an exclusive Sdcc interview. When pressed about a possible release window, Nedivi added, “It’ll be next year, for sure.”
That lines up with current expectations for the Star City rollout, which seems on track for late 2026. “It’s sort of in that ballpark probably,” Wolpert said. “That could be 12 months, could be 18. So, it's just a question of where it fits.”

In an era where television often serves as a comforting escape, Unforgivable arrives like a bucket of ice water to the face. If you were looking for a feel-good binge, you’ve made a spectacularly wrong turn. This is a story that begins after the bomb has already gone off.
We are dropped into a working-class Liverpool family shattered from within by a sexual abuse crime. The story sidesteps the act itself to focus entirely on its toxic, sprawling aftermath. At the center is Anna, a mother played by Anna Friel with the brittle energy of someone running on pure rage.
Her son, Tom, has retreated into a fortress of silence following the abuse. And the cause of it all, Anna’s brother Joe, is about to be released from prison. His return isn’t just a plot point; it’s a lit fuse brought back to a house full of gunpowder.

Liverpool’s BBC Two schedule gained fresh momentum yesterday when the corporation unveiled first-look images from Unforgivable, a 90-minute drama written by Jimmy McGovern and fronted by Anna Friel and Anna Maxwell Martin.
Shot last summer amid Liverpool’s terraced streets and the lunar-like quarries of the Wirral, the film follows the Mitchell family as they navigate the fallout from abuse perpetrated by son Joe, newly released from prison and played by Bobby Schofield. Director Julia Ford frames Joe’s uneasy rehabilitation at St Maura’s halfway house while ex-nun Katherine (Maxwell Martin) guides him through therapy sessions that force the family to confront long-buried guilt.
McGovern developed the screenplay after consulting Merseyside support charities, aiming to dramatise “the ripple effect of grooming on every person in the room,” according to producer Donna Molloy of LA Productions.

Everyone loves a good whodunnit. After all, these types of murder mysteries have been all the rage since the mainstream popularity of the detective mystery genre in the 1900s, where the term was first used in a 1930 novel review. Genre authors like Agatha Christie, G.K. Chesterton, and Nicholas Blake (among many others) helped establish the conventional traits of a whodunnit, such as the clever placement of red herrings and the use of specific settings (like an island or mansion) to heighten the stakes.
Christie's oeuvre is a special one, and her whodunnit mysteries hold value and appeal to this day; one only has to look at the string of Kenneth Branagh-helmed adaptations, including the fairly recent "A Haunting in Venice," to see that adaptations are still being made. An astute fictional detective like Hercule Poirot makes for an intriguing addition to a case that's tough to crack, as he...

Acclaimed Indian filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee is set to direct an adaptation of Keith Gessen’s novel “A Terrible Country,” marking his English-language debut and first British film.
Shubham Saraf will star in the lead role, with Jonathan Reiman producing through his Fast Forward International banner. Dhruv Sehgal, writer-creator of Netflix’s “Little Things,” will co-write the screenplay with Banerjee.
The India-based adaptation follows a failing British-Indian academic who relocates from London to Delhi to care for his ailing grandmother. Through navigating family demands, ideology and desire, he discovers the true cost of idealism in a country he doesn’t fully understand.
Banerjee, whose credits include “Shanghai” (which premiered at Toronto International Film Festival), “Bombay Talkies” (Cannes premiere) the festival favorite “LSD,” and International Emmy-nominated “Lust Stories,” most recently released “LSD2” on Netflix. His film “Tees” awaits release.

With awards season all but done and dusted, Oscars. Golden Globes, SAGs, and BAFTAs all having been dutifully doled out over the past few months, this evening saw the BAFTA TV Awards 2025 — hosted by Avengers: Doomsday's Alan Cumming and held at London's Royal Festival Hall — take centre stage for a night of red carpet walking and shiny statue giving. And during a telecast in which the two most nominated shows — Netflix stalker thriller Baby Reindeer and ITV drama Mr Bates Vs The Post Office — took home one award apiece, the likes of Mr Loverman, Shōgun, and Blue Lights all scored big wins in major categories.
On the night, Baby Reindeer's sole win saw Jessica Gunning's turn as Richard Gadd's crazed stalker Martha recognised in the Supporting Actress race, while Mr Bates Vs Post Office, which was elsewhere nominated in both Lead acting categories, took home the coveted accolade for Limited Drama.

Mr Bates vs The Post Office and Mr Loverman were the big victors at the BAFTA TV Awards, meaning Baby Reindeer did not continue its dominant winning streak.
Hosted by The Traitors star Alan Cumming, the BAFTA ceremony took place in sparkling spring sunshine on the banks of the River Thames at London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday.
The prizes were fairly evenly shared, but perhaps unsurprisingly, it was a notable night for Mr Bates vs The Post Office, the ITV series that dominated the UK ratings last year and fuelled a national conversation about injustices faced by innocent British postmasters, who were convicted of theft, fraud, and false accounting.
The series won Best Limited Drama, beating Baby Reindeer, which has been a darling of the awards season after cleaning up at the Emmys and Golden Globes. Jessica Gunning did, however, take home the prize for Best Supporting Actress for Baby Reindeer,...

The British Academy of Film and Television Arts presented its 2025 TV Awards at the Royal Festival Hall in London, with a wide spectrum of talent recognized across drama, comedy, factual, and children’s programming. Hosted by Alan Cumming, the event was broadcast on BBC One domestically and streamed on BritBox in the United States, continuing the Academy’s emphasis on broad accessibility for international audiences.
This year’s selections showcased both returning series and first-time contenders. Several winners have already seen cultural ripple effects across the UK media landscape. ITV’s Mr Bates vs the Post Office stood out not only for winning Limited Drama but also for earning the Special Award, recognizing ITV’s role in commissioning a project that helped catalyze national discussion. Based on a real-life miscarriage of justice, the series dramatized the experiences of sub-postmasters wrongly accused of theft and fraud, spurring public and political attention.

Mr Bates vs. the Post Office pulled off a victory over Netflix's Emmy-winning Baby Reindeer at the 2025 BAFTA TV Awards on Sunday. The ITV drama that dominated U.K. ratings last year tells the story of hundreds of innocent sub-postmasters and postmistresses who were wrongly accused of theft, fraud, and false accounting due to a defective It system.
However, it wasn't all bad news for Baby Reindeer. Emmy, Golden Globe, and SAG Award winner Jessica Gunning continued her impressive awards streak, scoring Best Supporting Actress, and bringing the limited series’ total to three wins, including writing and directing victories from the BAFTA TV Craft Awards on April 27.
Lennie James beat out the likes of Richard Gadd (Baby Reindeer) and Gary Oldman (Slow Horses) to win Best Actor for Mr Loverman, in which he plays an exuberant, closeted family man who wants to end his marriage and live with his best friend.

While many were occupied by the usual suspects, 2024 was a treat for TV lovers who were paying attention. Yeah, we could have kept rewatching that one show for the ‘tenth-teenth’ time, but suffice it to say, it meant missing out on the next one. Comedy? There was plenty of that this year. Thrillers also found their place. Even a vampire mockumentary died down without proper credit.
These 30 underrated shows from 2024 deserve way more love, and frankly, it’s low-key saddening they didn’t get it. This is why FandomWire has collected them in one place, where readers can choose the genre they can relate to or are in the mood to indulge in. But rest assured that all the shows in the list have the capacity to give you a good time; you just have to make the first plunge.

Apple TV+ is taking a bold leap into uncharted territory with a gallant spinoff of its highly praised alternate-history show For All Mankind. Ronald D. Moore, the executive producer, has described the project as a daring attempt, pointing to the risks and realism entrenched in the Soviet space program.
The original show is already a concept rarely showcased in Western media. Now, with the new courageous narrative shift, audiences can expect to view the Cold War’s space race from a fresh lens, diving deep into the lives of Russian engineers, cosmonauts, and intelligence officers.

The Oscars are over. The Golden Globes have all been handed out. And the BAFTAs are but a swiftly fading, "Did David Tennant really sing 500 Miles with James McAvoy and Anna Kendrick?" memory now. But the BAFTA TV awards are very much still on the horizon, and as the celebration of the small screen gears up for its 11 May telecast, today we've learned who the nominees are that'll be vying for those precious golden statues. Leading the way with a solid eight nominations is Richard Gadd's Netflix stalker drama Baby Reindeer, while racy Disney+ show Rivals, Apple TV+ Slough House spies joint Slow Horses, and ITV's incendiary Mr Bates Vs The Post Office all follow close behind with an impressive six nominations each.

The BAFTA Television Awards nominations have landed and, as always, there were a few eyebrow raisers from jury members.
The likes of Baby Reindeer and Mr Bates vs The Post Office were expected to do well, and both series duly delivered with eight and six nominations respectively.
Baby Reindeer has been a darling of the season, and the BAFTA TV Awards will be the big crescendo to its campaign. The beloved Jessica Gunning and creator Richard Gadd both compete for prizes, while the series — which remains the subject of a massive U.S. lawsuit from Fiona Harvey — will compete in the Limited Drama category.
There was also good news for Slow Horses, which bagged six nominations for Apple TV+, including the notable return of Gary Oldman in the Leading Actor category after he missed out in 2024.

David Mitchell is brilliant — no, not the Cloud Atlas author, but the equally British talent known for his great comedic work with Robert Webb, as William Shakespeare (Upstart Crow), and as a team captain of arguably the funniest British panel show of the past decade and more (Would I Lie to You?). Even those unforgettable series haven't made the popular dent that his latest show, Ludwig, has. The crime dramedy became the BBC's most-watched new scripted show since 2022, with the second episode bringing in 9.5 million views.
The delightful series stars Mitchell as John, a hermetic puzzle-maker whose twin brother, detective James Taylor, goes missing. When his sister-in-law (the wonderful Anna Maxwell Martin) asks him for help, John impersonates his twin in order to sneak into his office, grab some information, and leave without anyone noticing. Things get, well, a bit more complicated than that. Mitchell recently spoke with MovieWeb...

David Mitchell is causing double the trouble in Ludwig, the latest British television hit to make its way to U.S. audiences via BritBox. Ludwig sees the star of Peep Show playing John "Ludwig" Taylor, a reclusive puzzle creator who is asked to impersonate his detective brother James, in hopes of finding out where his brother vanished to. It's one-part detective drama and one-part workplace comedy, and it's been a smash hit with audiences.
In an interview with Cbr, Mitchell spoke about how his love of detective dramas motivated him to add Ludwig to his already lengthy resume. He discussed the process of having to portray John playing James, and working alongside Line of Duty alum Anna Maxwell Martin. Plus, he teased what he's looking forward to in Ludwig Series 2.

The following contains light spoilers for Ludwig Series 1, Episode 1, now streaming on BritBox.
David Mitchell has carved out his space in British television by playing charmingly strange characters, and that trend continues with Ludwig, the new detective comedy-drama coming to BritBox after its successful outing on BBC One. Mitchell is neither creator nor writer on Ludwig -- that would be Mark Brotherhood -- but the show feels like it was tailored to him. It's a mystery series, but at its heart, it's a workplace comedy that's just got some dead bodies in it.
Ludwig is titled after the nickname of John Taylor, a reclusive character who crafts newspaper puzzles. But when John's straight-laced twin brother James goes missing, his wife Lucy recruits John to pose as James and look for clues about his disappearance. Naturally, this half-cocked scheme spins out of control, and what follows will be immediately addictive to...

David Mitchell stars as John “Ludwig” Taylor, a reclusive but brilliant puzzle maker who’s facing one big conundrum in the cozy BritBox comedy Ludwig (premiering with two episodes on March 20 in the U.S.). When his semi-estranged twin brother, a detective, goes missing, he agrees to step into his shoes as a one-time favor for his beloved sister-in-law, Lucy (Anna Maxwell Martin)… and winds up having to solve a murder. Thankfully, Ludwig’s puzzle-solving brain makes him a whiz, Mitchell tells TV Insider, adding that the premise is a physical comedy gold mine. “The thing that first drew me to the project, comically, is that once you accept the premise that he absolutely looks identical to his brother, that there is no one who will not accept that he’s his brother, that just frees it up for so much comedy.” Ludwig can “fail to such a greater extent...

David Mitchell is a little coy while discussing how he onboarded Ludwig. “As far as I know,” he tells The Hollywood Reporter, “it was thought up with me in mind!”
The actor and comedian is beloved in the U.K. for his starring role in Peep Show and on the British panel show Would I Lie to You?, so it was a no-brainer for creator Mark Brotherhood when he got wind that Mitchell, inspired by his own love of crime and mystery shows, was looking for a detective role.
