When the original iteration of Marvel Television announced a multi-series partnership with Netflix, it was confirmed that Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and Iron Fist would all get their own shows.
Daredevil launched this McU-adjacent street-level corner of the Marvel Universe in 2015 and, two years later, The Defenders was released.
The crossover event was good, not great, but fans remain eager to see these heroes reunite on screen. For Brad Winderbaum, Head of Streaming, Television and Animation at Marvel Studios, the Defenders reuniting somewhere down the line is "inevitable."
"I want to follow the characters and see where they go," the executive shared. "I think the two characters that are most important for Daredevil: Born Again are obviously Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk. They live and breath in a world where these other Defenders characters are walking around somewhere, so I think collisions are inevitable."

Marvel Studios is moving full speed ahead with “Daredevil: Born Again” as production gears up for its second season. With Season 1 set to debut on Disney+ in just more than a week, executive producer Brad Winderbaum has confirmed that fans won’t have to wait long for the next installment. The cast and crew are expected to return to the New York City set in March to begin filming Season 2, with a planned release in 2026.
Winderbaum confirmed that the goal is to make “Daredevil: Born Again” an ongoing series with multiple seasons. “That is the plan. Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully Season 3 and season infinity after that,” he said.
He also highlighted how integral New York City is to the story. “I think this world is extremely rich, and there are many stories to be told on the streets of New York. It’s certainly something very fundamental to Marvel,...

Daredevil: Born Again is finally set to premiere on Disney+ next month after a number of setbacks, revamps and production delays, Marvel Television is wasting very little time in returning to the mean streets of Hell's Kitchen to get the ball rolling on season 2.
There were rumors that production on the second season of Marvel's revival series was scheduled to commence in late February, and star Charlie Cox recently confirmed that cameras will start rolling before the season 1 premiere.
Now, Marvel Studios' Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, has revealed that Born Again season 2 will be with us at some point next year.
That is the plan," said Winderbaum when asked if the show will eventually become an annual release during an interview with Screen Rant. "Season 2 will come out next year, and then hopefully season 3 and season infinity after that. I think this world is extremely rich, and there are...

Jon Favreau's 2008 film "Iron Man" kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe, a multimedia superhero property that would remain dominant in the pop consciousness for over a decade. Initially, "Iron Man" and Louis Leterrier's own 2008 MCU movie "The Incredible Hulk" (which finally got a sequel of sorts in 2025) were meant to be mere stand-alone superhero sories, only including references to the Avengers as a cute wink to fans. But when Disney purchased the Marvel library in 2009, a grander plan was put in motion, laying out multiple films at once, each one introducing a new character. Eventually, all the superhero characters teamed up in 2012's "The Avengers," which was essentially the cinematic version of a TV season finale. That structure held fast through to "Avengers: Endgame" in 2019, the 22nd film in the franchise, and one that featured many, many superheroes.
While the McU's movies were dominating theaters, Netflix got in on the action as well.

Though we had been led to believe that Netflix's Marvel shows were no longer considered canon when Marvel Studios announced brand-new MCU content would be developed for the Disney+ streaming service, things clearly changed after Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) brief cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) later returned as Echo's villain, and the upcoming Daredevil: Born Again series will essentially serve as a fourth season of Netflix's original Dd show.
But what about the Man Without Fear's fellow Defenders?
While speaking to EW in yesterday's piece on Born Again, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum hinted that it may only be a matter of time before we see Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Finn Jones' Iron Fist/Danny Rand in the MCU.

Could the return of Daredevil lead to a revival of The Defenders? Marvel and Disney seem to think so!
Fans of Disney+ and Marvel are eagerly awaiting the debut of Daredevil: Born Again. The new Disney+ series is a sequel to the Netflix show with Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, the blind lawyer whose special abilities allow him to be the costumed crime fighter Daredevil.
The show brings back the rest of the cast, notably Vincent D'onofrio as Wilson Fisk aka the Kingpin. It will also have Jon Bernthal reprise his role as Frank Castle, better known as the brutal vigilante the Punisher, who he played in a Netflix spinoff.
With fans happy to see Daredevil back, there's a question if the other Marvel Netflix series could return. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Marvel's head of streaming, television, and animation, Brad Winderbaum, confirmed, "We are very much exploring" that possibility.

Despite the mixed response Captain America: Brave New World has been getting this past week, and persistent rumblings online about so-called 'superhero fatigue', the Marvel Cinematic Universe still has plenty of lovers. And if Marvel Studios' head of streaming, television, and animation Brad Winderbaum has any say in the matter, then the MCU may also be about to bring back some Defenders, too. Namely, Krysten Ritter‘s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter‘s Luke Cage, and Finn Jones‘ Iron Fist, who — alongside Charlie Cox's Matt Murdock — form, well, The Defenders, Hell's Kitchen's Mightiest Heroes.
Ahead of Daredevil: Born Again's release next month, Winderbaum took the time to talk to Entertainment Weekly about the Man With No Fear's MCU journey from humble Netflix origins to prime Disney+ programming. As Marvel Studios expands its cinematic universe, characters remanded to the shadows continue to emerge for new adventures. March 4th marks the return of Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock for the mature-rated Disney+ series Daredevil: Born Again, with Vincent D’Onofrio’s Kingpin and Jon Bernthal’s Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, bringing blood and violence to the MCU. While Daredevil is primed and ready for a comeback, other members of The Defenders – Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter), and Iron Fist (Finn Jones) – could return for more superhero drama.
Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Television, and Animation, Brad Winderbaum, said Marvel is “exploring” options to bring the trio mentioned above back for more hard-hitting action. “I can’t say much, but I’ll tell you that it’s so exciting to be able to play in that sandbox,” Winderbaum told Entertainment Weekly. “Obviously we...

Marvel Studios’ streaming and TV boss Brad Winderbaum revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that bringing back Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones, Mike Colter’s Luke Cage and Finn Jones’ Iron Fist/Danny Rand is something the studio is “very much exploring.” All three actors headlined their own Marvel series on Netflix along with Charlie Cox’s “Daredevil.” The foursome also teamed up in the “The Defenders” series. When Marvel initially ended their association with the Netflix shows, many felt the Defenders Saga was done for. Things changed for the better after Charlie Cox’s Daredevil was introduced in the MCU, and after a creative overhaul on the small screen, the MCU brought back many favorites, including Karen, Punisher, and Kingpin.

Is it finally time to put the team back together again? Ever since it was first revealed that "Daredevil: Born Again" would officially bring the various Marvel Netflix shows into the fold of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, fans have been clamoring for more direct connections with what came before. Inexplicably and infamously, the original conception of this reunion series was a little light on the whole "reunion" aspect of it all -- Deborah Ann Woll's Karen Page and Elden Henson's Foggy Nelson, for example, were nowhere to be found. In a development that should come as no surprise, this was one of many factors leading to "Born Again" getting a creative overhaul that's resulted in a more cohesive approach. With fan-favorites like Jon Bernthal's Frank Castle/Punisher and Vincent D'Onofrio's Wilson Fisk/Kingpin set to be part of the action once more, speculation has quickly turned...

Given his prior history of working in crime and noir comics, author Brian Michael Bendis, who marked his Marvel debut with Ultimate Spider-Man, spearheaded the Max imprint, which focused on more adult-themed stories. As a result, the writer partnered with artist Michael Gaydos to pen the critically revered Alias, starring Jessica Jones.

The Stay in LA campaign, a call to keep more production in the city, has hit 20,000 signatures with high-profile stars including Andy Garcia and Marisa Tomei joining the call alongside filmmakers including Jonathan Nolan and Paul Feig.
This comes after a week of awards season events where the likes of Hacks co-creator Paul W. Downs and DGA President Lesli Linka Glatter stumped for the campaign at high-profile shindigs.

When "New Girl" ended in 2018 after seven seasons, it undoubtedly left a hole in people's hearts. Since 2011, people tuned into Fox every week to see what mishaps and misunderstandings Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) and her roommates would get into. There's no shortage of incredible "New Girl" episodes to watch, and if you go back, you may find new things to appreciate. Even if you don't, it's hard to get tired of watching an episode like "Background Check" where everyone's eccentricities are dialed up to 11.
Naturally, you may be ready to fill said heart-hole with something new yet oddly similar. "New Girl" is far from the only sitcom about a group of friends figuring out what to do in life while getting into copious high jinks. Or maybe you want something with a quirky female lead who's prone to burst into song. There can only ever be one "New Girl," but...

Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man brings plenty of Marvel characters into the mix, but it almost includes even more. Showrunner Jeff Trammell recently spoke about the show and revealed that one major character swap was considered early on—Jessica Jones instead of Nico Minoru.
Trammell shared that his team initially debated using a younger version of Jessica Jones in Nico’s place. While he didn’t confirm many details, he explained that the creative process involved selecting characters that best fit the story they wanted to tell.
“We knew we were going to do something different,” Trammell said. “For this story, we needed certain characters to fit these roles. And for me, I love Nico. I love Runaways. This is very much like an amalgamation of just characters I love that I would love to interact with Spider-Man.”

When Daredevil: Born Again was first announced, it was hyped up as an 18-episode series. That's since been split into two 9-episode seasons, with production on season 2 set to begin before the first batch of episodes premiere on Disney+.
There's already been a great deal of chatter online about potential season 3 plans, meaning the show would match the number of seasons Charlie Cox's Man Without Fear appeared in on Netflix.
Setting expectations in check is scooper Daniel Richtman who has claimed today that Daredevil: Born Again season 3 has not yet been greenlit. Unsurprisingly, it sounds like a final decision hinges on how well the first and second seasons perform on the streamer.
Richtman has also said, "Season 2 will feature surprise cameos." He doesn't have details on who those will be, though Elodie Yung's Elektra, Mike Colter's Luke Cage, and Krysten Ritter's Jessica Jones must be among the most likely candidates.

I should probably stop being surprised that the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has become so successful, especially after the third film has pushed the series over the billion-dollar mark. Paramount is keen to keep the little blue speedster and his pals around a little longer, as they’ve officially slated Sonic the Hedgehog 4 for a March 19, 2027 release.
The post-credit scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 did give fans a hint as to where the franchise will go next, but the fourth installment is still in the early stages with no director or star attachments at the moment. Jeff Fowler helmed the first three movies, so it stands to reason that he’ll be back for Sonic 4, but you never know.
Jim Carrey, who plays Dr. Ivo Robotnik in the franchise, has even expressed a willingness to return for Sonic the Hedgehog 4 if they have a good reason to do it.

The fourth movie in the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise is set to speed into theaters on March 19, 2027.
Paramount Pictures, which announced the news Tuesday, had long been eyeing a spring 2027 release for Sonic the Hedgehog 4, the latest installment in the film series that is based on the popular Sega video game.
The news comes just days after Sonic the Hedgehog 3 became the top-grossing title in the franchise, with more than $422 million in ticket sales at the global box office. That’s a great feat for the threequel, which added Keanu Reeves in the role of Shadow.
Not only that, Paramount revealed Tuesday that Sonic 3 has generated more than $180 million in global consumer spending from home entertainment rentals and purchases. Studios generally refrain from divulging home entertainment numbers.
In a separate milestone, the Sonic franchise has surpassed $1 billion in box office to date.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been widely hailed as the best instalment in the trilogy, though some newly revealed concept art hints at a movie that's arguably even grander in scale than the one fans watched in theaters last month.
There are lots of sequences showcased here that either weren't in the final cut or changed significantly. Why? It likely comes down to practical reasons like the movie's budget; however, by far the biggest talking point is what appears to be a glimpse at an alternate timeline with Eggman ruling over Earth alongside Metal Sonic.
In Sonic the Hedgehog 3's post-credits scene, we were introduced to Amy Rose and chances are we'll get to visit a version of that twisted future in the already-confirmed fourth instalment. We're also not exactly shocked that Dr. Robotnik will likely live to fight another day after his apparent demise.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3's Colleen O'Shaughnesssey speaks about whether the Sonic team is likely to make a franchise movie without any of the human characters. O'Shaughnesssey is the voice of Tails in the Sonic movies, beginning her role in earnest in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 after Tails briefly appeared in the first movie's mid-credits sequence. In addition to O'Shaughnesssey, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 features a leading cast including Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Keanu Reeves, Idris Elba, James Marsden, and Krysten Ritter. The movie received positive reviews and is doing well in theaters.
In an exclusive interview with ScreenRant, O'Shaughnesssey discusses the likelihood that a Sonic movie without any of the main characters will be made. While the actor noted that making a non-human only Sonic movie is possible, she thinks that "they did such a great job balancing the two" in the most recent installment. As such, she thinks...

Marvel Studios released the first official trailer for Daredevil: Born Again earlier today, and in addition to bringing us up to speed on the Man Without Fear and his various allies and enemies, the teaser included the Marvel Cinematic Universe's first direct nod to Luke Cage.
Along with fellow Netflix Marvel series' Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Punisher, Defenders and the original Daredevil, Luke Cage was technically set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at the time of its release, but we'd later learn that Kevin Feige was never fully on board with integrating these projects into the MCU proper, and the advent of Marvel Television and the Disney+ streaming service suggested that the shows were not officially part of the main 616 Universe - or so we thought.
Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (Vincent D'Onofrio) eventually appeared in MCU film and TV projects, with Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal) set to debut in Born Again.

Marvel might have just confirmed the return of another Defenders Saga hero thanks to the appearance of a key New York City location in the first MCU trailer for Daredevil: Born Again. Charlie Cox has already returned as Matt Murdock's Daredevil, but the first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again brings him back to his grounded roots. After Netflix's Defenders Saga was confirmed to be canon to the MCU in early 2024, there has been speculation about who might return alongside the Man Without Fear, and Born Again's trailer might have provided some clearer insight.
Daredevil: Born Again's trailer gave viewers a better look at several returning Defenders Saga characters, including Matt Murdock, Wilson Fisk, Benjamin Poindexter, Frank Castle, Karen Page, Foggy Nelson and more. The fact that Born Again is continuing the story of the original Daredevil series after its creative overhaul is very exciting, but there...

A lot of projects are in line to be released over the next few years by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has opened up the prospects of a lot of old characters returning and even more new characters debuting. This has been perking up fans’ expectations and paving the way for debates on the characters they wish to see, and a new name has been dropped into the mix.
Kilgrave aka The Purple Man. | Credits: Marvel Comics.
This character currently in the talk that fans are rallying for the MCU to bring back is the same ‘terrifying’ villain that made life a living hell for Jessica Jones until she managed to overcome his thrall. And as much of a villain with minimal to zero megalomaniac tendencies as he is, he really is a force of nature that is too tough to deal with, even for the Avengers: Kilgrave aka The Purple Man.

The nine episode first season of the Marvel series Daredevil: Born Again is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on March 4, 2025 – and while there was once an idea to cherry-pick elements from the Netflix Daredevil show and build something new around them, those plans changed while Daredevil: Born Again was in production. The 2024 movie, which was directed by Jeff Fowler, stars Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, James Marsden, Tika Sumpter, Idris Elba, and Keanu Reeves. The article contains major spoilers for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 ending. The Sonic the Hedgehog 3 writers address whether a backup plan was in place if Jim Carrey did not return as Robotnik.
