Detention director Joseph Kahn makes his horror-comedy return with pulpy creature feature Ick, and Fathom Entertainment has dated the film for theatrical release this summer.

Fathom will screen Ick in select theatres in New York and Los Angeles for a one-week theatrical run starting Thursday, July 24, before expanding to theaters nationwide July 27-29.

Today, Collider having the "ick" is anything but as it unveils an exclusive look at the trailer for Joseph Kahn's Ick, a horror comedy releasing nationwide by Fathom Entertainment on July 27-29. The film stars Brandon Routh, Malina Weissman (Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events), andMena Suvari. Hellboy's Mike Mignola recently reflected on the film franchise spawned by his creation, revealing his frustrations with Hellboy II: The Golden Army. The acclaimed Hellboy creator stated he was "unhappy with the movie" and that the three months he spent collaborating with Guillermo del Toro "didn't really impact" the 2008 sequel.

In an interview with Screen Rant for his upcoming documentary Mike Mignola: Drawing Monsters, Mignola discussed his experience working on The Golden Army and his dislike for the film. "I like being left alone to produce work that I can control. There are plenty of excellent kids books from the 2000s that are worth curling up and reading, even years later. The noughties is a great era in general, but especially in fiction across all literary genres. Some of the best lengthy book franchises and sagas ever are 00s releases, such as the Horus Heresy novels and The Mortal Instruments series. Titles that are geared toward the younger generations, however, are especially prominent.

Its worth noting that, like any genre, some classic kids' books from the 2000s have aged poorly. While not every story is still appropriate in an ever-changing world, there are several childrens novels that work well in the present well. From their compelling and relatable characters to the fictional universes full of wonder and intrigue, these kids books from the 2000s are absolutely worth checking out if you havent read them before.

And Peacock, Universal’s direct-to-consumer streaming platform, has just unveiled its Halloween programming line-up, full of tricks and treats from the studio’s back catalog, as well as two new series (“Teacup” and “Hysteria!”) for some fresh scares.

In 2022 and ’23, there was at least one big Blumhouse movie that simultaneously debuted on Peacock — in ’22, it was David Gordon Green’s trilogy-capping “Halloween Ends” and last year, it was the video game adaptation “Five Nights at Freddy’s”. This year doesn’t have anything quite like that, but it’s still a powerful collection of titles for every viewer.

The Sept. 1 batch includes classics like “Bride of Frankenstein,” “It Came From Outer Space” and “Werewolf of London;” 1980s favorites like “Halloween III: Season of the Witch,” “The Funhouse” and “The Thing;” along with more modern hits like the original “Candyman,” Jordan Peele’s “Us” and several entries in the “Saw” franchise.

Paramount has announced the lineup of movies, TV shows, and live sports coming to the Paramount+ streaming service in July. The Paramount Plus July 2024 schedule includes season two of Kamp Koral: SpongeBob’s Under Years, the music documentary Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken, the espionage docuseries Mafia Spies, a 24/7 stream of Big Brother, and more.

In the Memoir of a Snail teaser trailer, Grace Pudle is separated from her twin brother Gilbert following their parents’ deaths. Unfortunately for Grace, things don’t get much better after that, and the only one who will listen to her tragic tale is a garden snail named Sylvia.

Exclusive: Leviathan Productions has enlisted Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, creators of the hit Israeli series Fauda, to script October 7th, a narrative feature telling the harrowing true story of Noam Tibon.

A grandfather and retired Israeli general, Tibon garnered international attention when he rescued his family from the hands of Hamas terrorists who had invaded their kibbutz — with his story, capturing the Israeli spirit of resilience in the face of adversity.

Exclusive: Leviathan Productions has acquired the remake rights to L’Homme de la Cave (The Man in the Basement), the French psychological thriller from director Philippe Le Guay, which was released just last year.

Inspired by a true story, the film is about a Jewish couple who sell their basement to a history professor, only to discover his secret life as an antisemitic conspiracy theorist. As the couple struggles to unwind the sale, the professor starts to indoctrinate their impressionable teenaged daughter.

Marc Weitzmann, Le Guay and Gilles Taurand wrote the script for the original film, with Anne Dominique Toussaint producing. Rights were acquired from Tournellovision and the remake will be produced by Ben Cosgrove, Frederic Golchan and Neal Israel.

Netflix set the bar for live-action adaptations, and with One Piece, the streaming giant managed to raise the bar even higher. The show has been winning acclaim from all quarters, mainly due to its storytelling, and how faithful it has been to the manga.

Percy Jackson and the Olympians co-executive producer Joe Tracz has been confirmed as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner on the upcoming second season of Netflix’s breakout hit One Piece.

On the live-action adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s beloved manga, he is working alongside returning Season 1 writer, executive producer and co-showrunner Matt Owens. Steve Maeda, who developed the series with Owens and served as Season 1 co-showrunner, remains an executive producer. Filming on Season 2 is expected to start in June for a 2025 premiere, sources said.

This marks a return to Netflix for Tracz who served as a writer-producer on the streamer’s A Series Of Unfortunate Events, based on the book series of the same name by Lemony Snicket, and as co-creator-executive producer on Dash & Lily, based on the YA books.

The entertainment veteran joins from CrossCheck Studios, a Gen Z focused production company with a development deal at Prime Video. During his time at that company, he led film and TV development efforts across their scripted and unscripted slates, working with distribution partners including Amazon, Paramount, Peacock, and STXFilms. The film will tell the story of the campaign of antisemitism waged by automotive pioneer Henry Ford throughout the 1920s. It was in 1925 that Aaron Sapiro, a self-made lawyer and activist, sued Ford for libel. After a dramatic court case that gripped the nation, Sapiro forced Ford to shut down his antisemitic newspaper, The Dearborn Independent, and apologize publicly to the Jewish people.
