Masters Of The Universe Set Video Shows Panicked Extras Running From Mo-Cap Beast Man(?) Actor
Image
As filming continues on the live-action Masters of the Universe movie in London, this latest video from the set has ignited speculation that the villainous Beast Man might appear after all.

When the supporting cast was announced, it was assumed that Game of Thrones alum Hafthor Bjornsson's Goat Man would fill the role of Skeletor's animalistic henchman, but we'd later hear that concept art featuring Beast Man, Man-e-Faces, Spikor and Battle Cat was spotted at CinemaCon.

In the video and photos below, we see a group of extras running in terror from an unknown actor in a large motion-capture suit and rig. According to set reports, this individual was seen chasing people through the streets with "the movements of a monkey."

We'd say there's a good chance this will turn out to be Beast Man, but there are a lot of Motu characters, and this could always be...

Nicholas Galitzine is Prince Adam with the Power Sword in 'Masters of the Universe' Set Images
Image
Masters of the Universe has very quickly become a huge talking point after years stuck in development hell, and as – against all odds – filming gets underway on the new live-action He-Man movie, new set images have revealed Nicholas Galitzine in his Prince Adam form, along with a very familiar looking accessory.

However, this is not the Prince Adam that fans of the comics and animated series are used to, as he is seemingly being arrested by police on Earth. As explained in the previously reported synopsis for the long-awaited movie, Adam is reportedly taken from his home world of Eternia and is living on Earth as a regular office worker with no knowledge of who he really is. That all changes when he is brought back to the Power Sword and must return to Eternia to face the evil Skeletor in a battle for Grayskull.

These first shots of Galitzine...

Skeletor's Panthor Gets New Origin, Mirroring He-Man's Battle Cat
Image
Warning: contains spoilers for Masters of the Universe: Revolution #4!

Skeletors most fearsome creature, Panthor, gets a new origin that makes him the dark mirror of He-Mans Battle Cat. Battle Cat is one of He-Mans most important and trusted allies, and is synonymous with the character. Yet Skeletor had an animal of his own: Panthor. While Panthor never enjoyed the popularity of Battle Cat, he still made an impact, and he gets a new origin in Masters of the Universe: Revolution #4.

While the cat never gets a name, it is unmistakably a younger version of Panthor!

Masters of the Universe: Revolution #4 is written by Tim Sheridan, Rob David and Ted Biaselli and drawn by Daniel Hdr. The issue, set largely in the confines of Keldors mind, recalls his days as a child, being raised alongside Prince Adam. As the two boys play, fans glimpse a purple kitten with yellow eyes scampering around them.

He-Man: 10 Masters Of The Universe Characters We Hope To Finally See In Live-Action
Image
Nicholas Galitzine's casting as He-Man in the upcoming Masters of the Universe movie sparks excitement for long-awaited live-action appearances by iconic characters. Fan favorites like Moss Man, Fisto, Mer-Man, and Trap Jaw could bring depth and humor to the new movie adaptation. Possibilities for characters like Faker, Scare Glow, Hordak, She-Ra, and Battle Cat could elevate the stakes and expand the He-Man universe.

There is an abundance of fantastic Masters of the Universe characters that need to finally make the jump to live action. One of the greatest and most enticing things about the original 1982 toyline was the varied selection of unique and original characters, on both the hero's and the villain's sides. While the franchise has made the jump to cartoons, comics, video games, and a single live-action film from 1987 starring Dolph Lundgren and Courteney Cox, many of the best characters have yet to appear in live-action. Luckily,...

Masters Of The Universe Live-Action Movie Sets 2026 Release; Synopsis Reveals Major Change To He-Man's Origin
Image
The live-action Masters of the Universe reboot is finally going to see the light of day after being in and out of development for many years.

After numerous false starts, Netflix was all set to develop a feature take on the beloved animated series back in 2022, but we recently got word that the latest attempt to get the project off the ground had also fallen by the wayside.

However, we'd later learn that Amazon/MGM Studios had acquired the movie, with Bumblebee director Travis Knight in talks to helm. Now, multiple trades are reporting that Knight has officially signed on, and the movie is set to hit theaters on June 5, 2026.

Chris Butler rewrote the script from an initial draft by David Callaham (Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings). Previously, the Nee Brothers (The Lost City) were attached to direct.

An updated synopsis has also been revealed, it sounds...

Image
Accomplished jazz musician Kamasi Washington has confirmed his new album, Fearless Movement, set for release on May 3rd.

Fearless Movement is Kamasi Washington’s first album in six years, and the saxophonist refers to the record as his “dance album”: “It’s not literal,” Washington clarifies in a statement, “Dance is movement and expression, and in a way it’s the same thing as music —expressing your spirit through your body. That’s what this album is pushing.”

Another significant theme of Fearless Movement is new fatherhood, inspired by Washington’s experience having his first child several years ago. In addition to his daughter appearing on the album, Fearless Movement features contributions from André 3000, Thundercat, George Clinton, Bj the Chicago Kid, D Smoke, and fellow member of Washington’s collaborative group Dinner Party, Terrace Martin.

‘Masters Of The Universe: Revolution’ Character Guide
Image
One of the defining features of toy line-oriented franchise is that there is no shortage of visually appealing characters. A vast number of behavioral archetypes and appearance combinations ensure a steady supply of characters, targeted to bolster sales numbers while ignoring the quality of the writing behind them. Similarly, one of Mattel’s most popular toy line IPs, Masters of the Universe set in the fantasy-adventure genre, boasts a significant number of key figures which have gone through little to no change since their first appearance during the 80s.

With the advent of Ott, a number of franchises have received a new opportunity to unlock their potential, and Netflix’s Masters of the Universe, released in 2021, proved the storytelling prospects of He-Man lore when makers aren’t afraid to take risks. Despite being hit with seemingly divisive reactions, the series served its purpose of rejuvenating the fandom, and as a result,...

Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40, and Too hort Are A Super Group For Graying Rap Fans
Image
The album title consists of four names that need no introduction: Snoop, Cube, 40, hort. These rap icons justly claim themselves as architects of West Coast hip-hop. As Mount Westmore, they’re a supergroup whose presence is etched in the California landscape.

Snoop Dogg, Ice Cube, E-40, and Too hort also represent a wave of old-school rappers sustaining recording careers well into their 50s, long after the hits have subsided, and fans have moved on to fresher trends. (Tellingly, they snark about “Ig” and TikTok.) New work by first-wave golden-age heroes...

‘Power of Grayskull’ DVD Review
Image
There’s been a whole slew of television shows and documentary films about nostalgia lately, with many focusing on a number of toy lines from the 80s and other decades of the past. The Toys That Made Us is likely the most well-known of the lot, landing on Netflix, talking about toys from Star Wars to Lego to Transformers all the way to He-man. I am a nostalgia-head, a toy collector and a fan of the 80s, so when a chance to see this documentary, Power of Grayskull: The Definitive History of He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, came up, I jumped at it. A film talking about the history of the famous line of He-man toys from Mattel? I’m in. I grew up playing with wrestling figures, smashing Robotech toys together in a battle for supremacy, busting poltergeists with my Ghostbusters and kicking butt with my Hero Turtles.

Among the festivities will be a Hall H panel celebrating the 40th anniversary of Masters of the Universe, appearances by WWE Superstars and toy designers.

Collectors, however, needn’t worry. Exclusives are very much still part of the itinerary. In fact, Mattel will reveal a dozen exclusives, coming via its Mattel Creations label, during what it is billing as “12 Days of Fandom. Mattel will offer drops that harken to iconic and classic properties as the company, in its own words, “opens up the vault.” That begins July 11 and will lead to a 288-hour sale of the 2022 lineup.
