Nicolai Tegeler is an award-winning German producer, director, writer and founder of the 2021 opened iLikeStories GmbH in Berlin, also known as iLS-Films. Together with his co-founder Tobias York and their production liaison, the award-winning German producer, director and writer Jessie Kerry, the company creates and produces a broad spectrum of MADE IN GERMANY theatrical, TV, Web and Streaming content for the European and the North-American market.
Nicolai (Nico) comes from a family of actors. His mother is Melitta Tegeler, his grandfather was the actor Ludwig Kerscher. At the age of 15 he joined an off-theatre group. His first TV gig was a leading role in an episode for ARD in Dr. Sommerfeld - Neues vom Bülowbogen (1997). After a stay in New York, he completed his acting training at the Fritz Kirchhoff School in Berlin from 2000 to 2003, graduating with stage maturity. Since then, Nicolai has appeared in numerous television, film and stage roles, making him one of Germany's well-known faces on stage and in front of the camera.
In 2009 he founded the film production company Colafilm together with Alexander Kiersch.
In 2016, Nicolai & Alexander realized the feature film When Edith's Bells Toll (2016) - a trashy, funny Christmas comedy. Edition Salzgeber distributed the film and it was shown nationally and internationally at various film festivals and can now also be found on the streaming service Amazon Prime. Nicolai co-directed this feature film.
In 2019/2020 Nicolai realized the feature film Zu den Sternen (2020) on his own and in a joint production with Cellophane Films and iLikeStories. The movie ran nationally and internationally at various film festivals, winning multiple awards. It is his second feature film, but the first he has directed entirely on his own. The feature film was shown in selected cinemas in Germany and Austria in autumn 2021. In addition, the public broadcaster MDR acquired the license rights for 3 years.
Since 2015 he has been speaking the role of Hutchinson Hatch in the radio play series Professor van Dusen, based on Michael Koser, as Klaus Herm's successor.
Since 2019, Tegeler has been moderating the talk-show format "Tegeler meets..." on Hauptstadt TV. As the show's host, he introduces the viewer to various personalities and their favorite places in the city.
