Biography

Evan Showalter is a writer, director, editor and sound designer of feature films and short films. Showalter's first feature, The Leaching, is set to be released in 2025. Showalter is best known for his horror films, which almost always feature some sort of hideous creature in a callback to 1980s classic horror. His work has been screened in some of the top horror festivals in the country.

Showalter grew up in Louisville, Kentucky. As a child he would make scary movies on his iPod, always fascinated with classic horror movies. In high school he met his longtime creative collaborator, Noah Keckler, where the two would move to Chicago and create dozens of projects, ranging from horror features to commercials.

Showalter's short films, all of which he directed, wrote, edited, and sound designed, include Ante Mortem (2023), Bad Music Terry (2023), Jitter (2025), and BLOTCH (2025).

He completed his first feature film (The Leaching) in 2024, which is expected to release sometime in 2025.

Showalter has been nominated for awards from Chicago Horror Festival, Popcorn Fright Fest, and more.
