The 7 Best Crime Movies on Netflix Right Now
Image
Netflix has no lack of great crime movies for those looking for a great story about smash-and-grab robberies, lifetime criminals or even thieving magicians. Below, we’ve put together a curated list of some of the best crime movies on Netflix right now, ranging from Oscar-winning dramas to underseen indies and beyond. There’s a little something for everyone, which speaks to the diversity of stories inside the crime genre.

The Departed Jack Nicholson and Matt Damon in “The Departed” (Warner Bros. Pictures)

Despite being the man behind classics like “Raging Bull,” “Taxi Driver” and “The King of Comedy,” Martin Scorsese didn’t win his first Oscar until 2006’s “The Departed,” a fairly straightforward crime thriller with tremendous commercial appeal. That’s not to ding “The Departed” – the movie’s a rich and wildly entertaining crime saga – but it was surprising that it was this film that finally netted Scorsese the trophy.

When Timothee Chalamet Was Chosen Over Tom Holland For Spider-Man But The Former Got Rejected: “I Read Twice And I Left …”
Image

Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: Homecoming marked Tom Holland’s first solo outing as Spider-Man in the million-dollar franchise after his debut in Captain America: Civil War.

Directed by Job Watts, the film was a fresh reboot of the beloved character after Andrew Garfield’s Amazing Spider-Man. While the Marvel Spider-Man films were a massive box office success, earning over $10.2 billion globally, they wouldn’t have been possible without Holland’s charismatic portrayal. Interestingly, before Holland landed the role, it was offered to Timothee Chalamet, but he was ultimately rejected.

In a throwback appearance at the Los Angeles Film Critics Association Awards, Timothee Chalamet revealed that he auditioned for the Spider-Man role twice. While accepting the award for Best Actor for Call Me By Your Name, he shared during his acceptance speech, “I read twice and I left sweating in a total panic.

Image
Which MCU Role Did Emily Blunt Miss Out? (Photo Credit – Prime Video)

Imagine being this close to landing an MCU role and then having to walk away. Heartbreaking, no? That was Emily Blunt’s reality with Black Widow in Iron Man 2. The role eventually went to Scarlett Johansson.

From Marvel Dreams to Gulliver’s Detour: The Role Emily Blunt Couldn’t Take

Emily Blunt revealed on The Howard Stern Show that she was originally in the running to play the fearless Natasha Romanoff in the MCU. However, fate had other plans — a binding contract forced her to take on Gulliver’s Travels, a film she admitted she didn’t even want to do, costing her the Black Widow role. “It was a bit of a heartbreaker for me because I take such pride in the decisions that I make,” she said. Blunt added that teaming up with Robert Downey Jr. would have been “legendary,...

Sicario 3 Update: Josh Brolin Confirms Sequel is 'Very, Very Real'
Image
For years, Sicario 3 has been teased, and now Josh Brolin has given an exciting update on the third installment, detailing whether Denis Villeneuve will return to direct. The Sicario franchise launched in 2015 with Villeneuve’s tense, critically acclaimed thriller exploring the U.S. war on drugs at the southern border, starring Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Brolin.

Sicario was an instant hit, sparking the 2018 sequel, Stefano Sollima’s Sicario: Day of the Soldado, which shifted focus towards Brolin and del Toro’s characters. While it lacked Villeneuve as director and Blunt’s character, it still expanded the franchise’s world and ended on a note that teased another chapter, leaving many to wonder if there would be a Sicario 3.

During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Brolin, who plays Matt Graver, admitted that, although he once thought a third Sicario film was unlikely, Brolin...

Josh Brolin’s Sicario 3 May Need Someone Else After Taylor Sheridan’s Past Comment
Image
Apparently, Sicario 3 is still crawling out of the cinematic shadows. Yes, you read that right. Back in October 2023, World of Reel reported that the original cast of Sicario, Benicio del Toro, Emily Blunt, and Josh Brolin, would return for the third installment. That alone had fans breathing a sigh of relief, especially after the second film, Sicario 2: Day of the Soldado, delivered more firepower than finesse and left Blunt out of the equation entirely.

Now, in an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Brolin gave the first meaningful update in months, saying the chances of Sicario 3 happening are “very, very real”. But one major piece of the puzzle remains conspicuously missing: a director. Denis Villeneuve, who lent the original its haunting precision, is out. Stefano Sollima, who took the reins in Soldado, also won’t be returning. Naturally, all eyes turn to Taylor Sheridan, the man...

Taylor Sheridan's Action Sequel 'Sicario 3' Gets a Positive Update From Josh Brolin
Image
It's been seven years since Sicario: Day of the Soldado was released in theaters, and ten years since Denis Villeneuve directed the first film in the series, Sicario. While the sequel was not as widely praised as Villeneuve's entry, the two movies stand tall as exceptional modern westerns that blend with the thriller genre to tell an exciting story. Taylor Sheridan, who wrote the scripts for both, has gone on to direct and develop numerous other projects, particularly in television, including series such as Yellowstone and Landman. Now, one of the stars of both Sicario films has revealed that a third installment is in the works.

While speaking on Josh Horowitz's podcast to promote his latest film, Weapons, Josh Brolin discussed his career and future projects he will be working on. The topic of Sicario was eventually brought up, during which Brolin provided a very interesting tidbit of...

Michael Bay Exits Netflix’s Will Smith Action Film ‘Fast and Loose’
Image
Michael Bay has exited Netflix’s action film Fast and Loose amid creative differences with star Will Smith, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Fast and Loose focuses on a crime boss who loses his memory after an attack and gradually learns that he was leading a double life as a CIA agent. Jon Hoeber, Erich Hoeber, Chris Bremner and Eric Pearson worked on the screenplay. Jon and Erich Hoeber wrote the original script after selling their pitch to Netflix.

The streamer is looking to begin production in 2026 and will be focused on attaching a filmmaker in the meantime. THR reported in October that Bay was set to helm the project.

Fast and Loose has been in the works since before Smith’s slap of Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars ceremony. THR previously reported that David Leitch had exited the project the week before the infamous Academy Awards telecast to start work on The Fall Guy,...

Sicario 3: Josh Brolin’s “Very, Very Real” Update Is Taylor Sheridan’s Key to Hollywood Comeback
Image
In the wake of Josh Brolin’s upcoming horror thriller Weapons, the actor has churned the rumor mill surrounding the highly anticipated threequel, Sicario: Capos. In a new interview with Josh Horowitz’s Happy Sad Confused podcast, Brolin said the chances of Sicario 3 happening are “very, very real.”

That’s a big deal considering the silence around the project for years. The original Sicario (2015), directed by Denis Villeneuve, was a gritty and intense thriller loved by critics and fans. But its sequel, Sicario: Day of the Soldado, didn’t live up to the hype, especially with Emily Blunt missing from the cast.

Now, talks of Sicario: Capos are heating up again, with a partially written script that producers are reportedly calling “awesome.” However, no director is officially attached to the project, since Villeneuve has indicated he would not be involved, and Stefano Sollima refused to return after the disappointing sequel.

Taylor Sheridan's 10-Year-Old Action Film With 92% Rt Score Gets Exciting Sequel Update
Image
Before becoming a master of the modern Western genre with the Yellowstone franchise and several other action series on Paramount+, Taylor Sheridan wrote Sicario. The action film premiered in 2015 and had Dune director Denis Villeneuve at the helm.

The first film starred Emily Blunt, Benicio del Toro, and Josh Brolin. The last two reprised their roles in a less-successful sequel, 2018's Sicario: Day of the Soldado, but the franchise is also expected to continue with a third entry, Sicario: Capos. In a new appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, franchise star Josh Brolin gave an exciting sequel update, confirming Sicario 3 is real.

Around the 43:23 mark, the conversation reached Sicario 3, and the rumors that Brolin, del Toro, and Blunt would reprise their roles. "I mentioned at some point, I don't know, just to be contrary, I was like, 'Yeah, that's never going to happen,' " Brolin started.

Why Emily Blunt Says She and Meryl Streep ‘Always Have Beef’: Even Off-Screen
Image
Emily Blunt Jokes About Her “Beef” With Meryl Streep As Their Legendary Onscreen Rivalry Heats Up Again In Devil Wears Prada 2(Photo Credit –Facebook)

Meryl Streep never slips quietly into the background and when Emily Blunt is anywhere near her on a film set, sparks tend to follow. These two Hollywood A-listers are not strangers to playing characters locked in cold stares, veiled insults and sharp power plays. You would think that after three films together, maybe some warmth would show through, but no, it has been a running pattern, almost a cinematic ritual at this point.

Emily Blunt’s Surprising Reputation for Onscreen Feuds

Blunt, who often leans into the roles of quietly strong wives or whimsical heroines, does not strike most as someone eager for a feud. Yet, her name keeps circling the same orbit as Streep’s and not in the soft, fuzzy way fans usually hope for.

‘Cold Storage’ Teaser: Joe Keery and Georgina Campbell Enlist Liam Neeson to Help Contain a Parasitic Fungus
Image
The viral fandoms for both Liam Neeson and Joe Keery can finally unite thanks to the new sci-fi dark comedy “Cold Storage.” The “Naked Gun” and “Taken” icon and the “Stranger Things” actor both star in the latest film from legendary screenwriter David Koepp, who adapted his own novel for the screen.

“Barbarian” breakout Georgina Campbell co-leads the feature with Keery; the duo play two workers at storage facility that uncover a biohazardous government experiment. Neeson of course plays the fixer character enlisted to contain the parasite.

The synopsis reads: “Teacake (Keery) and Naomi (Campbell), two young employees of a self-storage company built on the site of an old U.S. military base, have their wildest night shift ever when a parasitic fungus escapes from the lowest sublevel of the base, where it was sealed by the government decades before. Street Style Frenzy Greets Devil Wears Prada 2 Shoot in Midtown
Meryl Streep
Viral street-level images of Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway striding past barricades on Manhattan’s Sixth Avenue have thrust The Devil Wears Prada 2 to the top of social-media trending lists less than two weeks into principal photography. Fans clustered outside the Helvetica Building—dressed by production to mimic Runway’s headquarters—cheered when Streep’s Miranda Priestly waved from a second-floor window, a moment captured in dozens of TikTok clips within minutes.

Onlookers also caught Hathaway’s Andy Sachs shooting a dialogue scene from Miranda’s old office, footage the actor later reposted on Instagram with the caption “same desk, new decade”. Production assistants handed out “Gird Your Loins” stickers to thin the crowd, yet city officials still closed West 48th Street twice last weekend to manage foot traffic.

Early fashion chatter centres on Emily Blunt, whose on-set ensemble pairs a pinstripe suit with fire-red hair and polarising sneaker-heels that...

“The Devil Wears Prada 2” screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna is just as excited as the fans about the sequel’s on-set photos.

McKenna recently told IndieWire that the early attention can only help the film, despite some who think the sneak peaks will spoil the plot and the fashion.

A Quiet Place 3 is coming in 2027
Image
John Krasinski will be back to direct A Quiet Place Part III which will hit cinemas in 2027. More on that below.

A Quiet Place has been a very exciting, not to mention profitable, franchise. John Krasinski’s directorial debut came out of nowhere in 2018 and surprised audiences with its highly tense atmosphere and aliens with acute hearing. A Quiet Place Part II followed in 2021 and was also positively received.

Paramount Pictures is now moving ahead with A Quiet Place 3, known as A Quiet Place Part III because roman numerals make the series look all serious and posh. John Krasinski will return to helm the next instalment in the franchise he started in 2018 and the third part will premiere on 9th July, 2027. A spin-off film, A Quiet Place: Day One was released in 2024 and also turned a profit, making Paramount very confident in the franchise (as they should be – every Quiet...

While we count days for The Devil Wears Prada 2, which is expected to release next year on May 1, 2026 (via People), it is totally normal to feel a little lost. Given the icon that Miranda Priestly is, no one has really been able to eclipse her icy elegance, biting wit, or the aura that turns fashion into fearsome art.

In the meantime, before the official sequel drops, here are six films that will help you fill the void: in charge,...

‘A Quiet Place 3’ Sets July 2027 Release Date, John Krasinski Returns as Director
Image
Shhhh.

John Krasinski is returning as the director, writer and producer of “A Quiet Place Part III.”

The cast is not confirmed at this time, so it’s unclear if Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe and Millicent Simmonds, who co-starred with Krasinski in the first film, will return. If you don’t know what happens to Krasinski’s character, we won’t spoil it, but don’t expect a family reunion.

Plot details of the sequel are being kept under wraps, but we’re going out on a limb to guess that they involve alien creatures with very sharp hearing, and human beings who have to evade them on tiptoe while using their inside voices.

Paramount Pictures will release “A Quiet Place Part III” in theaters on July 9, 2027. Krasinski and Allyson Seeger’s Sunday Night Productions, which has a first-look deal with the studio, is producing along with Platinum Dunes.

The Fall Guy (1981-86): What Happened to the TV Show that spawned the movie?
Image
The 80s were a time when country music and a type of hero born of the good ol boy class that came into his own. This could be seen in shows like The Dukes of Hazzard, Bj and The Bear, as well as movies like Any Which Way But Loose and Smokey and the Bandit. They were a time of what would be considered fun action films and TV. Again, this was personified in shows where usually no one got seriously hurt, like The A-Team. The bad guys went to the same shooting school as your friendly neighborhood Stormtroopers. But, one TV show that would personify this “nobody better get hurt” adventure series was The Fall Guy.

The series was designed as a vehicle for star Lee Majors, who had become a household name thanks to The Six Million Dollar Man, but struggled to find a worthy follow-up. This would be it,...
