Dallas Comic Con is getting bigger in more ways than one- This weekend’s Con on May 21-22, 2011, brings legendary stars of the sci-fi/comics genre to Texas, featuring Star Trek’s Mr. Spock, Leonard Nimoy, Star War’s Princess Leia, Carrie Fisher, comic book legends Stan Lee and John Romita, Jr., and The Punisher, Tom Jane!

There are so many awesome guests and not-to-be-missed features about this weekend’s Con. Here is a list of the action taking place at Dcc:

Saturday – Leonard Nimoy’s presentation, The Flash’s John Wesley Shipp & Amanda Pays, Making Macabre – Steve Niles and Bernie Wrightson on creating horror comics, and The Walking Dead Cast (Neil Brown, Anthony Guajardo, James Gonzaba) on stage.

Sunday - Stan Lee moderated by John Romita, Jr. and the Raw Studios panel with Tom Jane (Hung, The Punisher), artist Tim Bradstreet, and Todd Farmer (My Bloody Valentine,...

For the most part, people still do. Long held as one of those pivotal teen pieces of American culture, Ferris Bueller's Day Off has been quoted the world ‘round by everyone. How many teachers or professors can you think of that have repeated the Ben Stein "Bueller....Bueller" attendance shtick? Hell, a painted water tower in the movie went on to inspire the name for the band Save Ferris. That's an entire band quoting the movie by its very existence. Ferris Bueller's Day Off became a worldwide sensation and made Matthew Broderick loveable enough that by the time he starred in Godzilla we still paid money to see him - even though we'd been told the movie was awful.

Mean Girls remains the breath of fresh air we knew it to be when it first debuted back in 2004. Unlike some films who manage to break genre but go stale, Mean Girls lives in a zip-loc bag of relevance. Whether or not we should attribute Mean Girls' value to its analysis of the unchanging nature of high school politics or to the film's well-crafted plot, acting or direction is open to debate. Even when Mean Girls falters it still carries itself well - better than most teenage-aimed fare that's come before or since.
