In the pantheon of cool horror movie locations, the bowling alley is an overlooked gem. Unsurprisingly, the tendency to feature a disembodied body part being flung down the lane means that such films are frequently horror comedies.

Last Night at Terrace Lanes adopts a slasher approach (see: Gutterballs – or don’t), but maintains a humorous tone. The film, from director Jamie Nash and written by YA horror author Adam Cesare (working from a story by Jenna St. John), has a great logline: what if a killer cult attacked a bowling alley?

Sadly, the finished product struggles with its execution, leading to a decidedly mixed comedy slasher.

The Blair Witch Project co-creator Eduardo Sánchez had a hand in two horror films that are getting theatrical releases this month. Last week saw the big screen release of the anthology film Satanic Hispanics, which features a segment that was directed by Sánchez, and on September 29th Dread (the specialty horror label of distribution and financing company Epic Pictures) will be giving a theatrical release to The Jester, which counts Sánchez as one of its executive producers. Rogue was a game like no other. Developed and released in the early '80s I doubt its creators, Michael Toy, Glenn Wichman, and Ken Arnold, suspected that their little project would spawn an entire subgenre of video games. The retail price for the Blu-ray is $29.97, while the DVD will sell for $27.97. However, we do expect the price to be lower when it hits stores and online retailers.

A new indie thriller is rising on the horizon, titled Lovely Molly. This is a supernatural horror feature which finds Molly returning to some nightmarish memories. He has also directed such films as Seventh Moon and Altered. Molly deals with possession and gained a lot of attention at SXSW. Eduardo Sanchez, half of the team behind classic found footage horror 'The Blair Witch Project', returns to the horror fray with his latest directorial effort 'Lovely Molly'. The latest film from Eduardo Sanchez - the co-director of The Blair Witch Project - Lovely Molly, we're being told, is slated for a May release.

Image Entertainment picked up the film for release last fall.  Gretchen Lodge, Johnny Lewis, Alexandra Holden and Ken Arnold star.  Sanchez penned the film with Jamie Nash, who he teamed up with on previous directorial efforts Altered and Seventh Moon.

A couple purchase a former halfway house for shell shocked soldiers with the intent of renovating it into a bed and breakfast, but the house's dark history comes back to haunt the couple and their friends. 

"The Haunting of Pearson Place" is one of those films that is all over the map. The story really doesn't make much sense. Chunks of the film either drag on much longer then necessary or are far too repetitive. And some of the film's better scenes, feel as though they belong in an entirely different film all together. Mick McGuire steals the film in a performance that strikes the right balance between being funny and generating tension & unease, however his scenes are not conductive to a haunted house / supernatural thriller. Tim Griffin is an actor who can attest to the Hollywood addage that there are no small roles, especially when he has had parts in some of Hollywood's biggest movies. He has appeared in blockbusters such as The Bourne Supremacy, Iron Man, Star Trek, and Super 8. His streak of high-profile pictures continues with Abduction, where he plays Flannel, one of Taylor Lautner's mysterious pursuers. I recently had the chance to speak with this up and coming actor about Abduction, which hits theaters on September 23.
