‘Last Night at Terrace Lanes’ Review – Bowling Slasher Lands Somewhere Between Strike and Gutterball
In the pantheon of cool horror movie locations, the bowling alley is an overlooked gem. Unsurprisingly, the tendency to feature a disembodied body part being flung down the lane means that such films are frequently horror comedies.
Last Night at Terrace Lanes adopts a slasher approach (see: Gutterballs – or don’t), but maintains a humorous tone. The film, from director Jamie Nash and written by YA horror author Adam Cesare (working from a story by Jenna St. John), has a great logline: what if a killer cult attacked a bowling alley?
Sadly, the finished product struggles with its execution, leading to a decidedly mixed comedy slasher.
It’s the last night of business at Terrace Lanes, an aged bowling alley scheduled for demolition. Among the employees and the regulars bowling one last time, there’s Kennedy (Francesca Capaldi), a queer teen looking for some solo time with her crush Tess...

Keep an eye on Katie Kelly. The young actress has an X factor that suggests an ability to shoot to the top of the A-list in no time. You can just tell, sometimes. Kelly showcases that star quality, as well as some serious acting chops, in the new drama Sno Babies, a film that asks a lot of her. It’s a challenging role, one she’s able to handle with ease, delivering work that elevates the flick in a big way. The final product overall is a bit hit or miss, in terms of its effectiveness, but Kelly never hits a false note. If you choose to see this tale of drug addiction, you’ll be seeing it for her, and you likely won’t regret it. The movie is an addiction drama, focusing on the hidden epidemic of opioid addiction in small town, suburban America. It depicts not...

Rogue was a game like no other. Developed and released in the early '80s I doubt its creators, Michael Toy, Glenn Wichman, and Ken Arnold, suspected that their little project would spawn an entire subgenre of video games. What made Rogue special was its random levels, RPG elements (based on Dungeons and Dragons) and harsh difficulty. When your character died, it was permanently dead. Random levels and perma-death gave the game incredible replayability and sparked many discussions on the best ways to beat the game. These basic tenets, randomization and perma-death, became the foundation for an entire subgenre of video games named after their progenitor. Some of the earliest Rogue-like (or, more often, just “Rogue”) games were basically clones of the original concept, like Nethack (which is my personal favorite Rogue clone), but modern Rogue games come in all shapes and sizes from sci-fi to psychological action. There has...

Although bloodless, "Revolution" captures a post-apocalyptic landscape in an action packed fashion. Sci-fi and thriller fans will want to watch out for this series as the pilot was excellent. In the pilot, characters, settings and the main plot were developed. This episode focused on the Madison family. A patriarch is killed and his daughter is sent to muster his brother. Lovely Molly will be released to Blu-ray/DVD tomorrow and we’ve been given an exclusive clip to share with our readers. This particular clip shows a segment from the film where Molly is investigating noises in her house. It includes commentary from director Eduardo Sánchez and co-writer Jamie Nash, who talk about how working inside of a claustrophobic house helped get everyone into the right mood.
“When newlywed Molly Reynolds returns to her long-abandoned family home, remainders of a nightmarish childhood begin seeping into her new life. A malevolent force, whether her own huanted past or some supernatural ‘thing,’ tirelessly seeks to overwhelm her. Alone and isolated in a centuries-old house, she soon begins an inexorable descent into depravity. Somewhere in the house, in that terrible space between psychosis and possession, lies an evil that will pull Molly and all those around her into darkness and death.”

Director: Eduardo Sánchez. Writers: Jamie Nash and Eduardo Sánchez. Cast: Alexandra Holden, Johnny Lewis, Gretchen Lodge, Ken Arnold, and Lauren Lakis. Lovely Molly is a film from director Eduardo Sánchez. Sánchez might be best known for his work on the Blair Witch Project (1999). In his latest, he sticks with horror and perhaps Sánchez further perfects his art with Lovely Molly. After all, this is a truly unsettling picture with actress Gretchen Lodge playing an often tormented Molly. This film's many horrifying scenes might make viewers question the source of Molly's increasingly violent actions. This reviewer believes the events are caused by three elements: a supernatural site (haunted house), abuse and possession. These three elements come together like a whirlwind of terror in the film's story. That terror comes from the writing team of Jamie Nash and Sánchez. These two have written a horrifying tale, which puts Molly up against a demonic force.
