Sublimity Entertainment has acquired worldwide sales rights to the crime thriller Detained starring Abbie Cornish and Laz Alonso and will introduce the project to buyers in Cannes.

Felipe Mucci directs the Kinogo Pictures feature from a screenplay he co-wrote with Jeremy Palmer which centres on Rebecca, a woman who wakes up in a dilapidated police station in the middle of the night with no recollection of how she got there.

When Rebecca finds blood on her hands, she has no choice but to bribe her way out to cover up her blunder.

Karl Urban has brought several seminal characters to life. Apart from playing the complex, unhinged role of Billy Butcher in "The Boys," Urban has been a part of several major franchises over the course of his career, including "Star Trek" and "The Lord of the Rings." Peter Jackson's 2002 film "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" was a breakout film for Urban, in which he played Éomer, a leader of the Riders of Rohan who went on to become the King of Rohan. We’re calling it: The would-be Code Black revival is Doa. Although officially cancelled by CBS back in May, the medical drama — which continued to perform solidly in the ratings in the weeks following its axing — regained a (faint) pulse over the summer when CBS president Kelly Kahl indicated that he was reconsidering the decision.

“It’s doing incredibly well, it’s a well-done show. We’d like to figure out a way to maybe make it work,” Kahl told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. “We’re going to take a look.”

Katherine Lanasa has joined the cast of Are You Sleeping, the upcoming Apple thriller drama series starring Octavia Spencer and Lizzy Caplan, in a major recurring role.

She will play a new character that replaces the one previously played by Moon Bloodgood who had been cast as a series regular on the show but exited after four of the eight Season 1 episodes were filmed.

As part of the recasting, the role of Poppy’s right hand was reconceived. Lanasa will play Noa Havilland, Poppy’s (Spencer) producing partner. Bloodgood played Cath Min, Poppy’s (Spencer) best friend; that character is no longer part of the story.

Bloodgood played the series regular role of Cath Min, Poppy’s (Spencer) best friend, in the first four episodes of the show, which have been filmed. The series is going on a planned hiatus tomorrow, and the time off will be used to retool and recast the role. The crew is expected to return after Labor Day to begin prep work on the remaining episodes. It is unclear whether the writers will need extra time to work on the Cath character. Series creator and showrunner Michael Seitzman first broke the news on Twitter.

CBS medical drama Code Black will not return for a fourth season. Creator/showrunner Michael Seitzman revealed the news in a note to fans early Thursday on Twitter.

“The sad news came today that we were cancelled,” Seitzman wrote. “It’s been a true joy to make this show and watch your response every week. Thank you for all of your passion. Truly, our best episodes have yet to air. We hope you’ll watch and enjoy them. We made them for you.”

The series returned April 25 to soft numbers, with its Season 3 premiere down 33% compared with last season’s debut. It came down to the wire last year, with the show getting a last-minute Season 3 renewal, as it did for Season 2. Because of the late start, the network this year postponed the renewal decision until after the upfronts.

Code Black has officially flatlined: CBS has cancelled the medical drama (and its last remaining bubble series) after three seasons. Showrunner Michael Seitzman broke the news early Thursday on Twitter.

Dear #CodeBlack fans, the sad news came today that we were cancelled. It’s been a true joy to make this show and watch your response every week. Thank you for all of your passion. Truly, our best episodes have yet to air. We hope you’ll watch and enjoy them. We made them for you.

In a Gold Derby exclusive, we have learned the category placements of the key Emmy Awards contenders for ABC. For this season, the alphabet network has returning nominee “black-ish”, the relaunch of “Roseanne” and newcomer “The Good Doctor” (Freddie Highmore) as part of their 2018 campaign. ABC Studios also has several programs on other networks such as “Smilf” (Showtime) and “Code Black” (CBS).

Things might be getting a little meta this season. 

One of the new residents introduced on Code Black Season 3 Episode 1 is filming a documentary ... something along the lines of what Ryan McGarry made about the Los Angeles County Hospital ER.

But he's not the only newbie, and boy did they have a hell of a first day.

Pepper definitely had it the worst. Who gets accidentally dosed with fentanyl on their first day?! I hope her insurance and sick time kicks in right away. 

Despite her being, well, unconscious for most of the hour, we learned a surprising amount about the new female resident. In addition to being a little meek and self-doubting, her real name is Andrea and she had throat cancer as a kid.

Wednesday’s Code Black premiere brought about more changes in the hospital ranks, including two new residents and one significant absence.

Season 3 opens with “Mama” introducing himself to the first-year residents, per tradition. They include Diego Avila (Scream‘s Tyler Perez), whose wealthy father pulled strings to get him the position, and Pepper Russo (Nashville‘s Chaley Rose), who has the worst first day ever. Rob Lowe’s Code Black doc is getting some fresh air, and he’s doing so alongside new series regular Moon Bloodgood (Falling Skies).

In this exclusive video from Wednesday’s Season 3 premiere (CBS, 10/9c), paramedic Roxanne (Bloodgood) doesn’t seem too happy to be saddled with a “ride-along guy” in her new field partner Dr. Willis. Did someone yell, “Stat!”? Because Code Black is being hurried back onto CBS’ schedule a week earlier than planned.

Fronted by Marcia Gay Harden and this season adding Falling Skies‘ Moon Bloodgood to its ranks, the medical drama will now open Season 3 on Wednesday, April 25 at 10/9c. (Previously, it was scheduled to return the following week, on May 2.)

As such, Criminal Minds will now wrap its 13th season sooner, on Wednesday, April 18 at 9 pm and with a two-hour closer. Bumped for that one week, Seal Team will return on April 25, now leading into Code Black.

Premiere dates for two of the most popular dramas on CBS have finally been announced.

Yes, we're talking about Elementary and Code Black here.

Thankfully, Elementary has dodged the dreaded Sunday night timeslot this time around and will instead unspool its sixth season on Monday nights at 10/9c starting April 30.

The show will take over from Scorpion which wraps its season on April 23. Elementary was given a surprise renewal last year from CBS after continued erosion in the ratings.

The move was said to be down to the money the series brings with various syndication deals. In short, the show is said to turn in a big profit for CBS.

A vote of confidence from CBS came in November when the network increased the show's order from 13 episodes to 21 for Season 6.

Elementary Season 5 concluded with Sherlock hallucinating conversations with his deceased mother, while Joan discovered the severity of her partner's condition.

Sherlock Holmes and Joan Watson will be back on the case… in the spring.

Elementary Season 6 will premiere on April 30, moving to a brand-new time slot — Mondays at 10/9c (after Scorpion‘s season has wrapped). In November, the network expanded the midseason drama’s run from 13 episodes to a full-ish 21.

Code Black‘s new cast member Moon Bloodgood must have made a good impression: She’s already been promoted to series-regular status for the upcoming Season 3, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Bloodgood signed on to join the CBS medical drama back in June in the recurring role of tough-as-nails L.A. paramedic Rox Valenzuela, who’ll be saving lives alongside ride-along partner Dr. Willis, played by Rob Lowe. Code Black is going musical.

The cast of the CBS medical drama will be dusting off their pipes and putting on their dancing shoes for an elaborate early season three musical number, Et can exclusively reveal.

The majority of the ensemble -- including Marcia Gay Harden, Luis Guzman, Harry Ford, Benjamin Hollingsworth and Boris Kodjoe -- will be performing in the number, which will open the second episode of the new season. Rob Lowe and Moon Bloodgood will not be in the routine, which is set to Hozier's "Angel of Small Death and the Codeine Scene."

Code Black is getting an infusion of fresh blood as it prepares to weather another cast departure.

TVLine has learned exclusively that series regular Melanie Chandra, who has played lesbian resident Malaya Pineda since the CBS drama’s first season, will not be returning for Season 3.

Helping to fill the void will be Tyler Perez (Scream), who is set to recur as Diego, a rich and privileged charmster who has been handed everything in his life — including his first year residency at Angels Memorial. The hospital is even allowing him to make a documentary film of his experiences in the hospital.
