Why Did Dwayne Johnson Quit Football and Give Up on His NFL Dream?
Image
The entire world knows who Dwayne Johnson is. As the celebrated wrestler/actor, the man has earned respect everywhere and established a legacy that will not be forgotten for ages to come. Whether he is dominating the ring or showing off that charming smile in his movies, Dwayne Johnson never fails to leave a lasting impression on those watching.

However, not many would know that the wrestler-turned-actor used to play professional football. Unfortunately, things didn’t end up working out for him in that field quite like he had hoped, leaving him absolutely crushed.

Dwayne Johnson’s short-lived football career Dwayne Johnson | Credits: @therock / Instagram

It is a little weird to think that Dwayne Johnson could have had a career in anything other than wrestling/acting, but there was a time when he had his sights set on becoming a professional football player.

In fact, he got himself an athletic...

“Netflix, Bring It On”: Fiona Harvey’s Lawyer on How He Can Win the ‘Baby Reindeer’ Battle (Exclusive)
Image
Baby Reindeer is now one of Netflix’s most popular shows of all time.

Officially the 10th most-watched program in the streamer’s history, Richard Gadd’s limited series sat in the top spot worldwide for a month before it was dethroned and accrued 56.5 million views within 26 days of its April 11 release. “It’s been an enormous hit around the world,” Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos said.

Audiences were gripped by the story of Donny, an amateur comedian played by Gadd, who, over the course of several years, is harassed, stalked and sent over 41,000 emails, 744 tweets, 100 pages of letters and 350 hours of voicemails by a woman he once pitied. In the program, Martha (played by Jessica Gunning) shows up at his gigs, sexually assaults him and threatens his family as his life slowly derails. He is also sexually abused by a top TV writer and grapples with prolonged drug use.

By the end,...

Is Ballers Based On A True Story? Real Inspirations Behind The Rock's NFL Show
Image
Ballers is not based on a true story, but it uses real-life athletes and personnel to legitimize its projection as a series based on reality. The characters in Ballers share similarities to real NFL players' stories, drawing inspiration from their lives and experiences. HBO was able to use real NFL team names and logos in Ballers without needing written consent from the NFL, as long as it didn't defame the league.

HBO's Ballers depicts a fictionalized yet realistic representation of the lives of professional NFL athletes, agents, and front-office management. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson stars as a former professional football player that becomes a prominent financial manager for athletes working mostly with active NFL players. Ballers features a number of real-life professional athletes that contribute to the notion that the popular series is based on a true story. Major athletes ranging from NBA star Steph Curry, former NFL wide receiver Julian Edelman,...

Colin Kaepernick’s Las Vegas Raiders Workout Was “A Disaster,” Sports Commenter Warren Sapp Claims
Image
What may have been Colin Kaepernick’s last shot at a National Football League job didn’t go very well, according to Hall of Famer Warren Sapp.

Speaking to urban news site VladTV, Sapp didn’t hold back when Kaepernick’s May workout with the Las Vegas Raiders came up in conversation. The VladTV host mentioned that there were rumors the workout didn’t go very well.

Sapp jumped in, saying, “I heard it was a disaster. I heard it was one of the worst workouts ever. I’m wondering how the hell this happened and the tape didn’t get out, right?”

Sapp said it was very suspicious that no video has emerged. .

The Raiders gave Kaepernick a workout opportunity, as the club is seeking a backup quarterback and hoped Kaepernick still had something left, even though he’s been out of pro football for six years.

Wrestling, Honky Tonk & Breaking The Law: Get Details About Dwayne Johnson’s NBC Series ‘Young Rock’ – TCA
Nahnatchka Khan
Earlier this morning, NBC revealed it had handed a straight-to-series order to Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and Nahnatchka Khan for Young Rock, a single-camera comedy that tells the story of the wrestling star and actor’s colorful early years.

After a technological mishap at the Winter TCA press tour, Johnson recorded a video, in which he outlined some of the stories of his “wild” and “unpredictable” life that will feature in the series.

“We’re going to find young Rock wreaking havoc in the streets of Hawaii, when I was a teenager, getting arrested seemingly every single week, doing things I shouldn’t have been doing, but still a good kid. Then we got evicted off the island, and moved to, of all places Nashville, Tennessee, where I continued to get in trouble,” he said.

Johnson spent his high school years in Honolulu before moving to the country music capital,...

Tonya Harding in World's Dumbest (2008)
Could Tonya Harding make the ‘Dancing with the Stars: Athletes’ final two — and win! — based on these telling stats?
Tonya Harding in World's Dumbest (2008)
Tonya Harding would probably tell you herself she’s the underdog in the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” final three. No one, not even she, thought she’d get this far. Our odds have her finishing in third, behind Josh Norman and frontrunner Adam Rippon, which would be a very good and respectable placement for someone many thought would and wanted to get the boot in the first episode. But could she actually go even further and claim the Mirrorball trophy? “Dancing” history shows that, more often than not, the final two tends to be a his-and-her battle.

In the show’s previous 25 seasons, 17 final twos have come down to a female and a male celebrity. The longest streak was eight seasons, from Season 5 through 12. Of these 17, the woman prevailed 10 times. While each season is a very specific case, this data isn’t that shocking; female dancers — whether the pro...

Eric Roberts, Tori Spelling, Reginald VelJohnson, Alfonso Ribeiro, Anna Delvey Sorokin, Joey Graziadei, Ilona Maher, Jenn Tran, Stephen Nedoroscik, Dwight Howard, Julianne Hough, Phaedra Parks, Chandler Kinney, Danny Amendola, and Brooks Nader in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
“Dancing with the Stars” has had nine athlete runners-up and will add a 10th after this all-athletes season. Of those first nine, 34 percent of our readers voted in a recent poll that Shawn Johnson should’ve definitely won Season 15 with Derek Hough.

Johnson and Hough came in second to Melissa Rycroft and Tony Dovolani on the all-stars season. The Olympic gymnast won Season 8 with Mark Ballas and was seeking to becoming the first celebrity to win two Mirroball trophies. Both couples received high marks throughout the season, but perhaps Johnson’s previous win (as well as Hough’s three wins) hurt them in the fan votes.

Twenty-five percent of our readers feel that James Hinchcliffe and Sharna Burgess were robbed of a win on Season 23. The IndyCar driver lost to Olympic gymnast Laurie Hernandez and Val Chmerkovskiy, who dominated the season.

‘Dancing with the Stars’ has seen 10 athletes lift the Mirrorball trophy and almost nearly as many athletes came thisclose to getting their hands on it. Nine athletes have finished in second place on the show — some of them even losing to fellow athletes. Some of these losses were expected, some were close calls, but which of these runners-up deserved the win the most?

Jerry Rice was the first athlete runner-up. The three-time Super Bowl champ and Anna Trebunskaya lost to Drew Lachey and Cheryl Burke in Season 2. Rice and Trebunskaya had the third lowest score of the final three on finale night, but beat third-place finishers Stacy Keibler and Tony Dovolani with fan votes added in.
