One thing is clear: Renate Reinsve does not want to work with Stellan Skarsgard.

In the first trailer for Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, which Neon dropped today, Reinsve plays Nora Borg, a stage actress with a once-famous film director father Gustav (Skarsgard). Gustav was an absent dad and the two are estranged, so when Gustav, after the death of Nora’s mother, offers her a role in his new film, the project he hopes will be his comeback, she turns him down.

Undeterred, Gustav offers the role, written for Nora, to the young Hollywood star Rachel Kemp (Elle Fanning), dropping the eager American actress right in the middle of the complicated Borg family dynamics. In a breakout role, Norwegian actress Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas plays Reinsve’s sister Agnes.

“Why didn’t you want to do the role? He wanted you to do it,” asks Fanning’s Kemp of Reinsve in the Sentimental Value trailer.

Alongside having a fantastic opening theme song, Sweetpea is full of great music that helps give the show a memorable tone, adding to its quality. The balance between comedy and drama can be hard to get right, but Sweetpea's exciting cast of characters helps bring a light-hearted feel to the British drama, while Ella Purnell's Rhiannon Lewis brings some sinister vibes. Despite developing murderous tendencies, Rhiannon maintains her endearing traits, creating a twistedly complicated protagonist. However, these qualities are what makes Sweetpea's reviews so good and the show's excellent soundtrack compliments the action and humorous moments perfectly.

While the series is filled predominately with pop music, the songs are used in a clever way that often conveys an intense and even unsettling atmosphere on occasion. Sweetpea episodes 1 and 2 use these catchy tracks to help build an identity, treating the audience to some bangers in the process.

The year’s best Christmas movie arrives in the UK a bit late for Christmas: it is a genial, gentle, redemptive dramedy from Alexander Payne which hits the happy/sad sweet spot with Payne’s sure aim. The Oscars audience lost themselves briefly Sunday night when Eminem dropped by for a surprise performance of “Lose Yourself,” 17 years after he won an Academy Award for the “8 Mile” track at the 2003 awards show — which he skipped.

Following the stunt and a standing ovation from the audience, Eminem (real name Marshall Mathers) took to Twitter to thank the Academy for letting him do his thing tonight, since he did not attend their 75th ceremony, at which he was awarded the statuette for Best Original Song for “Lose Yourself” — the first-ever hip-hop track to win in that category.

“Look, if you had another shot, another opportunity… Thanks for having me @TheAcademy,” Slim Shady tweeted, alongside a clip of him missing the 2003 Oscars. “Sorry it took me 18 years to get here.”

The look of Frank’s title character is based on English musician and comedian Chris Sievey’s guise Frank Sidebottom, very much a cult figure in the UK during the 1980s and 90s but virtually unknown outside of the island. (International audiences may recently have got a glimpse of the late Sievey’s material as Sidebottom in one memorable sequence of Filth.) Lenny Abrahamson’s film, however, is not the story of Frank Sidebottom, with co-writer Jon Ronson instead taking inspiration from his own time as a keyboardist for Sievey in order to explore fictional territory.

Ronson’s fictional stand-in in Frank is, appropriately enough, named Jon, and is played by Domnhall Gleeson. He is a small-town office stooge who dreams of escaping his humdrum life with musical pursuits, despite an apparent lack...

The Voice UK was visited by none other than Gavin & Stacey's Nessa - well, an impersonator named Tara Lewis - when it launched its third series on the weekend.
