It's a new Meg-ginning when the world's biggest, meanest fish returns to terrorize the ocean floor and much, much more. This time, the prehistoric prima donna will be bringing company: more Megalodon sharks and a deadly Kronosaurus. Jason Statham again plays rescue diver Jonas Taylor, who takes a deep-sea dive into the titular Trench, with Cliff Curtis, Shuya Sophia Cai, Sienna Guillory, and martial arts master Wu Jing in tow. Four years ago, the ocean's largest predator - or Meg to her friends - breaches the Mariana Trench, and eats everything in her way, until Meg is finally taken down by a school of sharks. But surprise! More prehistoric pals have suddenly surfaced. English indie filmmaker Ben Wheatley ('Kill List,' 'Free Fire') sinks his teeth into this shark-filled sequel. 'Meg 2: The Trench' swims into theaters in August 2023.
