Biography

Brandon Elon Russell is a filmmaker hailing from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His passion for film and television began early in life, but it wasn't until high school that his love for movies truly flourished. He dedicated part of his education to studying audio and video production at Francis Tuttle Technology Center. While his peers enjoyed Friday night football and basketball games, Brandon spent those evenings at the local movie theater, immersing himself in the cinematic experience.

After high school, Brandon initially planned to pursue general studies in college, as major film schools were located outside of Oklahoma. However, a magazine highlighting the film and video production courses at Oklahoma City Community College caught his attention. By the summer of 2012, Gray Frederickson, an award-winning producer and Artist in Residence at Oklahoma City Community College, enrolled Brandon Elon in his first classes at OCCC. Frederickson had a remarkable career spanning over five decades, including collaborations with renowned filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola. Brandon officially enrolled and earned an Associate in Arts degree in Film and Video Production (now known as Digital Cinema Production). He transferred to the University of Oklahoma in 2016, where he studied Film and Media Studies, graduating with a Bachelor's degree in 2018.

Throughout his academic journey, Brandon engaged in various college projects and even witnessed a portion of a film being shot in Oklahoma City in 2013. He has participated in eight 48-hour film competitions across Oklahoma City, Dallas, and Austin, with his 2021 Dallas short film winning Best Film and earning a spot at Filmapalooza 2022 in Washington, D.C. In addition, he attended the 24th Annual Beverly Hills Film Festival in 2024 at the iconic TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood. Remarkably, Brandon has been noted for his resemblance to Chris Rock, embracing the nickname as the "Oklahoma version" of the famous comedian.
