Directed by Ani. I.V. Sasi, Uppu Kappurambu is a lighthearted comedy starring Keerthy Suresh and Suhas in the lead roles. The story is about a village where people faced a crisis when the graveyard ran out of space. Nobody knew how to tackle such a peculiar problem, and the village chieftain, who had just assumed office, also found herself in a fix. So let’s discover whether the villagers found a solution and what challenges they faced during the process.
Spoiler Alert
What was the issue with the village cemetery land?
Chitti Jayapuram had a rather fascinating history, and it played a key role in the lives of the village folks. Once upon a time, the ruler of the area faced a great conflict when his kingdom was hit by a deadly famine. The priest back then told him that, in order to appease the gods, they all should offer something.

Amazon’s Uppu Kappurambu is a hard nut to crack. This dark droll comedy has the petite Keerthy Suresh attempting physical comedy for the first time.
And it’s a sight for our eyes. Keerthy flails her fragile limbs, shakes her midriff and dances like Govinda with a sprained ankle. She is Apoorva, the head sarpanch of the village which is about to run out of grave spots for the dead.
Dig that? Now comes the clincher. Apoorva who keeps getting tips from her dead dad (he too behaves like he has just seen a ghost) on how to run a village filled with seething dimwits who make so many faces in the camera, it feels like a satire for the highschool of the specially abled.
To extract humour out of death is not an easy task. Comedy is a grave matter in this original but frequently over-underlined film. Director Ani.

There is an endearingly weird quality in how “Uppu Kappurambu” opens. Streaming on Prime Video, director Ani I.V. Sasi’s film dares to aspire to a divergent brand of comedy. Alas, it does not fully embrace that ambitious courage. In spite of a few flashes of individualistic brilliance, the Telugu comedy movie, starring Keerthy Suresh and Suhas, only half-commits to its quirks. It drops the ball on its delicately humorous premise and pulls its punches for a safer, more accessible version of its potential. The result is a passably entertaining comedy that plays with quirkiness, which is bound to be felt like a missed opportunity.
Written by Vasanth Maringanti, “Uppu Kappurambu” has us smack dab in the middle of a zany take on life’s most morbid reality: death. We are in the fictional village ‘Chitti Jayapuram.’ Despite the village’s dominant faith being Hinduism, Chitti Jayapuram has one oddity...

The announcement was made by Adam Fogelson, chair, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group.

Before the ultra-violent Indian action film Kill pulls out of the station to ride a pain train toward the North American box office, Lionsgate announced that 87Eleven Entertainment, the production company behind the billion-dollar John Wick franchise, will produce an English-language remake of the upcoming movie. Described as India’s goriest and most intensely violent film, Kill is a balls-to-the-wall action thriller with villains looking like chunks of Swiss cheese after a flurry of creative stab wounds and neck snaps.
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat directs Kill from a script he wrote with Ayesha Syed. The plot revolves around a passenger on a train to New Delhi. The train soon becomes a combat battleground as a pair of commandos face an army of invading bandits. What was supposed to be a leisurely trek turns into a claustrophobic bloodbath, with death and destruction filling every car along a fast-moving train.

Talk about an itchy trigger finger. Lionsgate is teaming up with Chad Stahelski and his 87Eleven production banner to produce an English-language remake of the Hindi action movie “Kill,” which hasn’t even opened domestically yet. It hits theaters on July 4.
Nikhil Nagesh Bhat wrote and directed the upcoming “Kill,” and as we wrote just this month, it’s basically “Bullet Train” with more knives — and we’re all here for that. It’s one of the first times a mainstream Hindi-language film directly partnered with a Hollywood studio for its North-American theatrical release.
No director or cast has been set for the remake. The good news is Stahelski is clearly a fan of the original.
“’Kill’ is one of the most vivid, wild, and creative action movies I’ve seen recently,” he said in a statement. “Nikhil delivers relentless action sequences that need to be seen by as wide an audience as possible.

The Kannada film Blink, directed by Srinidhi Bengaluru, has a truly unique storyline, unlike anything I’ve seen before in Indian cinema, blending elements of time travel and Greek mythology. It also pays tribute to folk artists and theater performers as well. The film centers around Apoorva, who is insecure about his future. The plot shows us his past life, where after meeting a mysterious man and experimenting with time travel, Apoorva discovers the shocking truth about his father, which changes everything he thought he knew. Even though we know that Blink is Srinidhi Bengaluru’s debut project, how he has blended past and present with mystery, drama, and sci-fi elements is truly something else. While the plot of the Kannada film seems quite complex, I’ll try to explain it as clearly as possible in Blink’s explainer.
